The five-and-a-half-year-old baby doctor comes to the city to cure those who refuse to listen.
Chapter 43 Do you want to outnumber people?
Lin Jianguo felt his vision go black, and the dimming golden light on the screen felt like a needle piercing his heart.
"Chen'er, what... what should we do?" His voice trembled as he grabbed Chu Chen's arm.
"Grandpa, where is the largest antique street in the capital?" Chu Chen turned his head, his expression tense.
Lin Jianguo was taken aback, but Liu Zhen immediately chimed in, "Liulichang! The most famous street for antiques and calligraphy in Beijing is right there!"
"Let's go to Liulichang." Chu Chen jumped off the stool, grabbed Lin Jianguo, and walked out.
Lin Jianguo was being dragged along, his mind still blank, muttering, "Go...go to do what?"
"Find the baby, save Mom." Chu Chen's answer was simple and direct.
Half an hour later, a Volga sedan stopped at the intersection of Liulichang Street.
Lin Jianguo got out of the car with Wang Dequan and two strong pharmacy workers, their expressions solemn.
He originally wanted Chu Chen to stay at home, but Chu Chen insisted on coming along, saying that only he could sense which "treasure" was useful.
"Old man, Liulichang is a mixed bag, and the waters run deep," Wang Dequan whispered a reminder from beside him.
Lin Jianguo nodded, took a deep breath, and led the people inside.
Following Chu Chen's vague senses, they inquired along the way and finally stood in front of a shop called "Jubaoge".
This shop is the most impressive on the whole street, with a three-story antique-style gatehouse, a vermilion-lacquered door, and two majestic stone lions crouching at the entrance.
Lin Jianguo straightened his clothes and stepped inside.
A shop assistant in a traditional Chinese jacket lazily raised his eyelids and said, "Buying something or learning something new? If you want to learn something, stand back and don't break it."
"We're looking for Manager Wang," Lin Jianguo said in a deep voice.
"Our manager is busy," the waiter said impatiently.
Just then, a chubby figure came out from the inner room. It was none other than Fatty Wang, the owner of Jubaoge.
He was twirling two walnuts in his hand, squinting as he sized up Lin Jianguo and his group. "What's the matter?"
Lin Jianguo cupped his hands in greeting: "Manager Wang, I am Lin Jianguo from Jishetang. I have heard that your shop has a Nine Dragon Cauldron, and I would like to request an audience."
Fatty Wang paused in his walnut-picking motion, a glint of shrewdness flashing in his small eyes.
He looked Lin Jianguo up and down, a slight smirk playing on his lips. "Oh, Dr. Lin from Jishetang, I've heard so much about you. But you must have misheard me, I don't have any Nine Dragon Cauldrons here."
"Manager Wang, I'm willing to pay a high price. This cauldron is meant to save lives," Lin Jianguo said earnestly.
"Help?" Fatty Wang exclaimed as if he had heard the biggest joke in the world.
He slammed the walnuts on the table, his voice suddenly turning cold: "Old man, don't give me that crap. My Jubao Pavilion is a business, not a charity."
He pointed to the door: "Trying to use being saved as a pretext to pick up bargains? You've come to the wrong place. Get out!"
Wang Dequan was so angry his mustache stood on end: "You! How dare you talk to me like that!"
"How can I speak like that?" Fatty Wang sneered and slowly clapped his hands.
With a loud bang, the shop's vermilion doors slammed shut.
The light dimmed instantly.
From the back of the shop, behind the screens on both sides, hundreds of burly men wearing black vests poured out.
These men were carrying gleaming steel pipes and baseball bats, and they looked fierce and menacing. They quickly surrounded Lin Jianguo and his group.
The staff at Jubao Pavilion had already shrunk into a corner, their faces beaming with schadenfreude.
Fatty Wang took a baseball bat from a burly man and weighed it in his palm.
He walked up to Lin Jianguo and tapped him on the chest with his baseball bat: "Old man, I don't care if you're from Jishetang or Jiushetang, in my Liulichang territories, if you're a dragon, you have to coil up for me; if you're a tiger, you have to lie down for me!"
The two men behind Lin Jianguo were so frightened that their legs went weak and their faces turned pale.
Although Lin Jianguo had seen some of the world, he had never seen anything like this before. He forced himself to stand up straight and glared at Fatty Wang.
"In broad daylight, under the clear sky, what are you trying to do?"
"What are you doing?" Fatty Wang grinned, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth. "If I don't let this old man leave lying down today, I'll change my name!"
A burly man grinned maliciously and raised the steel pipe in his hand high.
Just then, a clear, slightly lazy child's voice came from outside the door.
"Hey, you fat guy inside."
"If even a single hair of my grandfather falls out, I'll turn your Treasure Pavilion into a junkyard tomorrow."
Everyone froze, turning their gaze to the gate.
"Who the hell is farting outside!" Fatty Wang roared.
"Bang!"
The heavy, vermilion-lacquered gate was kicked open.
Blinding sunlight streamed in, and a bizarre combination appeared at the doorway.
Zhou Tian, the arrogant little tyrant of Beijing who was so domineering just two days ago, is now crawling on all fours like a dog.
A five-year-old child was sitting steadily on his back.
It was Chu Chen.
Chu Chen had a lollipop in his mouth, his legs swinging back and forth, and he patted Zhou Tian's head in a very professional manner.
"drive!"
This comical yet shocking scene left the hundreds of people in the room dumbfounded.
Zhou Tian raised his head, his face full of humiliation and numbness, sweat streaming down his forehead.
Fatty Wang rubbed his eyes, then burst into exaggerated laughter: "Hahahaha! Whose little brat is this? He's even learned to ride people! Interesting, really interesting!"
The group of burly men behind him burst into laughter, and the atmosphere suddenly changed from tense to comical.
Fatty Wang pointed a baseball bat at Chu Chen: "Little brat, didn't your parents teach you not to meddle in other people's business? Perfect, I'll teach you a lesson today too!"
Chu Chen ignored him, jumped off Zhou Tian's back, walked to Lin Jianguo's side, and tugged at his hand.
"Grandpa, don't be afraid."
Then, he turned his head, looked at Fatty Wang, and tilted his head.
"Are you trying to outnumber me?"
Fatty Wang laughed even harder: "You little brat, are you out of your mind? I have over a hundred brothers here, you think you can outnumber me?"
"Oh." Chu Chen nodded, as if he understood something.
He took a colorful marble out of his pocket, tossed it in his hand, and then raised his other little hand.
Amidst the stares of everyone who thought he was crazy, he quietly snapped his fingers.
"Smack."
The sound was crisp and clear.
Wang Pangzi's laughter stopped abruptly.
The burly men inside looked at each other and burst into laughter again.
"What's this little fool doing?"
"Who are you trying to scare?"
The laughter hadn't even subsided.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The sound of footsteps, so uniform and heavy as mountains, echoed simultaneously from both ends of the street.
The sound was like a thousand horses galloping, shaking the entire Liulichang area.
Business owners and shoppers alike were terrified and fled in panic, causing the doors and windows of shops on both sides to slam shut with a loud bang.
In the blink of an eye, the once bustling antique street became deathly silent.
Inside the Treasure Pavilion, Fatty Wang and the hundreds of burly men could no longer laugh.
To their horror, they saw that the shop's door, which had been kicked open, and all the windows were blocked by soldiers in military uniforms, armed with guns.
The dark muzzles of the guns, gleaming with a cold metallic sheen, were aimed at them from all directions.
The footsteps stopped.
Li Weiguo, dressed in a crisp military uniform, walked in expressionlessly through the passage cleared by the soldiers.
The sound of his leather boots hitting the ground was like a hammer blow to Fatty Wang's heart.
Li Weiguo walked straight up to Chu Chen without looking to the side, put his feet together, stood at attention, and gave a standard military salute.
His voice was booming, resounding throughout the entire hall.
"Reporting to Mr. Chu! The first and second platoons of the guard company, which should have been 120 men, are now present!"
"The Treasure Pavilion is now completely surrounded! Please give your instructions!"
"Splash—"
A sound like a steel pipe falling to the ground came from inside the room.
The hundreds of burly men who had been so fierce just moments before were now as pale as paper, trembling uncontrollably.
The weapons they had were nothing but firewood compared to the real weapons the other side had.
The baseball bat in Fatty Wang's hand clattered to the ground.
His obese body slid down the chair to the ground like a lump of mud.
He stared at the dark gun barrels, his eyes rolled back, and his crotch instantly became soaked.
"I...I..." His lips trembled, and he couldn't utter a single word.
He racked his brains but couldn't understand how a five-year-old kid could possibly mobilize the army.
What the hell is this deity?
Chu Chen didn't look at Li Weiguo, nor at the terrified Fatty Wang.
He walked up to Lin Jianguo, looked up at him with a serious expression, and asked, "Grandpa, you just said you were going to pay a high price for his tripod?"
Lin Jianguo was still in a state of great shock and nodded subconsciously.
Chu Chen turned around, walked to the limp Wang Pangzi, squatted down, and patted his greasy face.
"Fatty, my grandfather said he wants to buy your cauldron, that's giving you face."
He stood up and looked around at the burly men who were silent in the room, and the soldiers with guns outside.
His voice, though childish, carried an unquestionable tone of command.
"Now, I've changed my mind."
"I want the Nine Dragon Cauldron."
Chu Chen stretched out five chubby fingers and waved them at Fatty Wang.
Half price.
After saying that, he grinned, revealing a set of small white teeth.
"Brother Chu is a tough guy, small in stature but wild in his ways."
The entire Jubao Pavilion was deathly silent.
The only sounds were Wang Pangzi's heavy breathing and the dripping of liquid.
Zhou Tian, lying on the ground, secretly looked up at that small figure from behind. His eyes held not only humiliation but also a deep-seated fear.
He suddenly felt that being a slave to this little devil wasn't so unacceptable after all.
At least, I'm the one riding on others, not the one with a gun pointed at me.
