The Prodigal Son

Shangying.

After much deliberation, Qin Yu finally decided to expel the people from Shangxing City.

They claimed that since the two countries were at war, they did not want to involve innocent civilians.

At the same time, he also issued a notice assuring the people of Xing that he would do his best to protect their houses.

When the war is over, welcome them home!

Everyone has one day to leave.

They can bring anything they can take with them.

However, this measure only applies to ordinary people. As for wealthy merchants and tycoons, they can leave, but they cannot take any of their belongings with them!

Qin Yu stood atop the city wall, watching the Yan civilians flee in panic, and sighed silently in his heart.

It's unknown how many of these people will survive this winter.

Prosperity brings suffering to the people!

When the country falls, the people suffer!

Based on their current understanding, the Snow Cotton plan is likely to be more effective than they anticipated.

How long will it take before the State of Yan faces a great famine?

In that case, even more people will starve or freeze to death.

Sigh, I must have committed some terrible sin.

Ok?

As he was thinking, Qin Yu suddenly paused.

What am I thinking about?

The two countries are at war!

Why bother thinking about these things yourself?

I knew the consequences of this wicked plan back then, so why am I making such a fuss now?

Qin Yu shook his head, trying to clear his mind of distracting thoughts.

But for some reason, he always felt a bit depressed.

He wasn't particularly happy about taking Shangxing.

I don't seem to be the same spirited person I used to be...

……

At dusk, Qin Yu was discussing the next battle plan with Yuan Dingguo and Han Chong.

Qin Yu sent Xiong Quhu and Pei Xiao out to plunder supplies from the surrounding counties.

Qin Yu's requirements for the next phase of the battle plan were very simple.

We can take the initiative!

However, you can't go too far!

It would be best to wait until the enemy is no more than 150 li away before launching a preemptive strike.

They need to ensure that the troops can withdraw after they break out!

Otherwise, if their troops are cut off, and Zong Bi abandons Wangzhou Prefecture and rushes straight to Shangxing, facing a pincer attack, they might not even be able to hold Shangxing due to their divided forces!

You have to pull your fist back before you can throw it again!

You can't injure someone with one punch and then have your own fist chopped off.

"General Qin! General Yuan! General Qin..."

Just as they were discussing, they heard Xiong Quhu's loud and boisterous voice.

"What the hell are you yelling about!"

Yuan Dingguo looked up and glared at Xiong Quhu, who rushed in in a hurry.

"Urgent military situation!"

Xiong Quhu rushed in, taking three steps at a time. "While I was scavenging supplies, I learned that Yan Wujiu, a famous general of the Yan royal family, has led 20,000 Flying Fang Cavalry to Pangzhou, and other reinforcements from Yan are also..."

"Who are you talking about? Yan Wujiu? The Flying Cavalry?"

Before Xiong Quhu could finish speaking, Yuan Dingguo suddenly interrupted him, panting heavily and glaring fiercely.

"Yes! Yan Wujiu, Flying Tiger Cavalry!"

Xiong Quhu nodded emphatically.

"Well done!"

A cold glint flashed in Yuan Dingguo's eyes as he said viciously, "I was just looking for the Flying Fang Cavalry, and they've delivered themselves right to my doorstep!"

Seeing Yuan Dingguo's overreaction, Nan Que'er couldn't help but look at Qin Yu in confusion, "What's wrong with him?"

Qin Yu said in a deep voice, "The Wudang Flying Cavalry was almost completely wiped out back then, which was inextricably linked to the Flying Fang Cavalry..."

The Flying Tiger Cavalry was the most renowned cavalry force in the Yan Kingdom.

It is said that the Flying Fang Cavalry's warhorses are all top-quality horses selected from thousands, capable of galloping over 300 li in a day and night.

The Flying Fang Cavalry got their name from this.

However, the Flying Fang Cavalry's true reputation was earned by trampling over the corpses of the Wudang Flying Cavalry.

After the old man and his men recaptured Wuguan, the Wudang Flying Cavalry rushed to Dingzhou overnight.

Due to receiving incorrect intelligence, they fell into an encirclement by the Flying Tiger Cavalry and the Yan army.

After the commander of the Wudang Flying Cavalry led his troops in a breakout, the Flying Fang Cavalry relentlessly pursued them.

The two sides fought back and forth, engaging in more than ten battles within three days.

In the end, the commander, deputy commander, and adjutant general of the Wudang Flying Cavalry were all killed in battle, and of the more than 15,000 Wudang Flying Cavalry who came to their aid, less than one-tenth survived.

Even their proud name, "Wudang Flying Cavalry," was almost destroyed.

Later, the old man, unwilling to see the Wudang Flying Cavalry disappear, used his influence to forcefully replenish their ranks with some men when cavalry was in dire need, bringing the total to three thousand.

Only in this way could their designation be preserved.

However, for many years afterward, the Wudang Flying Cavalry did not receive any further reinforcements.

Today, the Wudang Flying Cavalry has become the Wudang Flying Army.

But Yuan Dingguo, the old man from the Wudang Flying Cavalry, must have remembered this deep-seated hatred between them.

When enemies meet, their eyes are filled with intense hatred!

Yuan Dingguo definitely wants to avenge the blood feud from back then!

Not only did Yuan Dingguo have a grudge against the Flying Tigers, but Xu Kui and Xu Wan, the brother and sister, also had a grudge against them.

Their father, Xu Huben, died at the hands of the Flying Fang Cavalry!

After hearing Qin Yu's words, Nan Que'er suddenly realized what was going on.

"Commander Qin, the time for our revenge has come!"

Yuan Dingguo turned his head, panting heavily, and looked at Qin Yu, his whole body exuding murderous aura.

Back then, it was the Yan Kingdom that launched a surprise attack on Daning, forcing the Wudang Flying Cavalry to rush to the aid of Dingzhou!

Now, they've turned it around exactly!

Back then, it was the Flying Fang Cavalry that almost wiped out their entire army!

Now is the time for them to annihilate the Flying Fang Cavalry!

Qin Yu lowered his gaze, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. "Revenge must be taken! But not now!"

Xu Huben was his father-in-law.

At this point, it should take Xu Kui's troops another month or so to arrive.

Xu Kui will most likely miss this battle.

Then I, as his son-in-law, will avenge him!

"Understood, sir!"

Yuan Dingguo nodded slightly, his face frosty, and said, "What this humble general means is that we can set traps for them in advance! If we find an opportunity, we should try to annihilate the Flying Raiders!"

Qin Yu nodded slightly: "Tell me first, how do you want to fight?"

Yuan Dingguo's gaze moved quickly across the map, finally settling on Hongxi Valley in the southwest of Qingcheng.

"here!"

Yuan Dingguo pointed coldly at Hongxi Valley and said in a deep voice, "In my humble opinion, Yan Wujiu will not only lead the Flying Fang Cavalry to attack; he will most likely gather his troops in Pangzhou before attacking!"

"Under normal circumstances, if the enemy amassed an army of 40,000 to 50,000, they would definitely rush towards Xing!"

"Could we hide a elite force beforehand, and when the enemy attacks, this force can suddenly strike and burn their supplies first..."

Food shortages in the Yan state were inevitable.

If the grain and fodder they had painstakingly gathered were burned by them, Yan Wujiu would probably be spitting blood.

Although Yuan Dingguo longed for revenge, he was also well aware of Qin Yu's temperament.

Avoid direct confrontation if possible!

Strike the snake at its vital spot; attack the enemy's weak point!

Wait until the enemy is in disarray or their morale is low before annihilating them in one fell swoop!

Qin Yu gave Yuan Dingguo an approving look, then asked, "Tell me your reasons for choosing Red Creek Valley!"

Yuan Dingguo immediately pointed to the map and said, "Yan Wujiu will definitely want to retake Shangxing as soon as possible. Therefore, he will definitely take the route from Qingcheng to Shangxing! Hongxi Valley is relatively remote and has abundant water resources, making it suitable for hiding troops..."

Moreover, they now have an advantage: the enemy has not yet attacked.

They still had the opportunity to secretly hide their troops!

As long as the enemy doesn't discover their intentions in advance, this surprise attack will surely achieve great success!

Han Chong stared at the map for a moment, then frowned and said, "What if Yan Wujiu sends men to escort the grain convoy? Yan Wujiu is a renowned general from the Yan royal family; surely he wouldn't be so careless?"

Zong Bi, Yan Wujiu, and Su Hebaoyin.

These three are collectively known as the three great generals of the Yan state.

Among them, Yan Wujiu is the uncle of the Yan Emperor. He was already an eighth-level expert many years ago, and he should be even stronger now.

Suhe Baoyin's ancestors were actually Mole people who were driven out of the territory by the Northern Qi.

Suhe Baoyin and Beiqi were sworn enemies, so he defended Beiqi in the northern part of Yan.

Suhe Baoyin was also the only one among these three famous generals who never led his troops into battle against Da Ning.

"This will depend on the troops from Shangxing."

Yuan Dingguo said in a deep voice, "When necessary, we need the troops from Shangxing to draw the enemy cavalry away, giving our hidden troops a chance to burn the enemy's supplies!"

"We can also make some arrangements when the enemy attacks to disrupt their vision..."
