Regulus of Hogwarts: Lord of the Stars
Chapter 30 Overwhelming Victory
Travers's words became increasingly harsh, deliberately distorting the facts and belittling Regulus's strength as mere trickery and luck.
Regulus remained calm, his head slightly lowered. He knew that Travers was trying to provoke him, to make him lose control and attack.
As long as he makes the first move, Travers, a fifth-grader, is forced to defend himself, and regardless of the outcome, he is justified in his actions.
Travers was confident that as long as he wasn't careless and dealt with the situation seriously, he would never lose face like he did last time.
The surrounding chatter subsided, and everyone looked at Regulus, waiting for his reaction.
Regulus stood there, listening to the malicious words, feeling the cold irritation from the letter slowly fermenting and heating up in his chest.
Looking at Alger Travers's face, which was full of calculation and malice, he suddenly felt a little ridiculous and a little disgusted.
Why are there always people who can't see things clearly?
He slowly twitched the corners of his mouth, revealing a cold, almost sharp smile.
His smile startled even those who knew him.
Avery and Alex exchanged a surprised look; they both keenly sensed that Regulus's mood was somewhat off.
Even Hermes, who was in the shadows, froze for a moment.
Snape, hidden in the shadows, kept a close watch on the scene, his dark eyes narrowed as he scrutinized Regulus, who seemed like a completely different person.
Regulus did not erupt in anger or retaliate as Travers had expected; he did not even look at the older students who were waiting to watch the show.
He took only two steps forward and spoke in a cold, flat tone: "Save your clumsy attempts at provocation, Travers."
You want me to attack you first, so you can claim the moral high ground for a forced counterattack and salvage your pathetic face.
"A childish trick, yet performed with such enthusiasm."
He watched as the other person's face instantly turned ugly, and continued in that unsettlingly calm tone, "Like a clown."
Three words, light and airy, yet like three slaps to Alger Travers' face.
Then, Regulus raised the hand holding the wand.
So, don't waste your time.
"Pull out your wand."
The lounge was deathly silent, save for the occasional crackling of the fireplace flames.
Alger Travers's face turned pale and then red, a mixture of shame and anger at being exposed in public and fury at being called a clown.
He hadn't expected Regulus to act so unpredictably, exposing his scheme to everyone in the most brutal way.
"Good!" Travers suddenly drew his wand, pointing the tip at Regulus, a fierce expression on his face.
"Since you're so arrogant, I'll show you the difference between first grade and fifth grade, and teach you how to respect your seniors!"
The crowd automatically dispersed, clearing the central space once again, and whispers rose like a tide.
"Tsk tsk, Travers is such an idiot, he thinks everyone else is an idiot too."
"Blake's ruthless enough to tear off the mask of civility."
"Fifth graders versus first graders... Even if Black beat Travers last time, wasn't that a sneak attack?"
"Not necessarily, look at how he blocked the dark magic..."
"That's different. Muller is also a freshman, while Travers has studied properly for five years."
"This is going to be interesting."
Avery clenched his fists nervously, Alex had already closed his eyes in fear, and Hermes leaned against a stone pillar not far away, his gloomy gaze fixed on the scene.
Lucretius did not intervene. In Slytherin, such private and voluntary contests were often tacitly approved as long as they did not lead to irreparable consequences.
"Start!" shouted an older student who loved watching the drama unfold.
Alger Travers launched a preemptive strike, having learned from his previous mistake; his wand was already in his hand. "Stun!"
A dazzling red light shone directly into Regulus's face.
With a flick of his wand, Regulus intercepted the Stunning Curse that was about to strike him.
"Blazing Flames!" Travers changed his move, and a blazing fire serpent shot out from the tip of his staff, whistling away.
Regulus remained standing in place, flicking his wand upwards to cast an Extinguishing Fire spell.
The flames went out of nowhere, and even the intense heat emanating from the fire snake disappeared.
Regulus's indifferent voice rang out: "Is that all?"
Regulus gave Travers no further chance to cast a spell, and with a flick of his wand, the Leg Slimming Curse landed precisely.
Travers' body went limp and was about to lean forward when another obstacle came crashing down on his upper body.
With a "bang".
The two spells struck in quick succession, sending Travers flying through the air and flipping him over. Before he could land, a second obstacle appeared and pressed down on him.
"Bang!"
Travers was sent flying through the air like a tattered sack.
A series of quick combos made the older students watching the game grimac; just watching those moves was painful.
"Ouch!" A sixth-grade girl gasped, hugging her shoulders and shaking. "He must be in a lot of pain."
Another boy chimed in, "Travers is probably feeling worse emotionally than physically."
A fourth-grader exclaimed, "Look at Black's spell! Silent, fast, and the transitions are brilliant!"
Several people were exchanging glances.
Can you dodge it?
Perhaps, what about you?
I'm in serious trouble!
"The ground was covered in mud."
Travers was struck by three spells in succession, flying backwards in mid-air, his mind blank, and he didn't realize what had happened until he landed.
But my body hurts so much!
It flew seven or eight meters, but landed without the expected impact, instead sinking into the mud.
"Shatter to pieces!" In a panic, Travers aimed a shattering spell at the ground beneath him, trying to blast away the mud.
But as soon as the spell was cast, an empty armchair beside him suddenly came to life.
The wooden structure twisted, stretched, and reassembled rapidly, transforming into a giant python nearly ten meters long in just a moment!
The python slithered silently, instantly coiling around Travers's waist and yanking him out of the mud before tightening its grip!
"Ah!" Travers cried out in terror, pointing his wand wildly, "Tear it apart!"
The spell struck the python, causing several scales to burst open, revealing visible flesh and blood beneath.
But that was all; the snake's body only tightened around him, making it difficult for him to breathe.
"Let go! Let go of me!" Travers struggled in vain, his face flushed red.
Regulus approached calmly, looking at Travers, who was tightly coiled by the python and looked utterly wretched, without a ripple in his eyes.
He leisurely waved his wand.
The python began to move slowly, dragging Travers, who was struggling desperately but to no avail, and circled around the open space in the center of the lounge.
One lap, two laps... like displaying a comical trophy.
"Enough! Let him go!" A sixth-grade boy who was on good terms with the Travers family couldn't stand it anymore and shouted.
Regulus glanced at him, a look that made the boy choke on the rest of his sentence.
It wasn't until Travers started rolling his eyes from lack of oxygen and humiliation that Regulus seemed to lose interest and flicked his wand.
The python instantly released its grip, transforming back into an armchair with a torn fabric that landed on the ground.
Alger Travers collapsed to the ground like a dehydrated fish, coughing and gasping violently, his robes smeared with saliva, tears and snot streaming down his face, his wand nowhere to be found.
The lounge was completely silent.
Everyone stared at the black-haired boy who was still as neat as ever, as if he had just returned from a walk.
Using the most basic spells, combined with a precise and imaginative transformation, he completely manipulated a fifth-grader, without the student even touching a single piece of his clothing.
Some even suspect that if it weren't for the crowded lounge, Black might have killed Travers directly.
The python's movements were clearly visible to everyone, and Travers was on the verge of death.
This is no longer a matter of winning or losing; it's a display of attitude and skill, carrying a certain cruelty.
Regulus didn't glance at the defeated man on the ground again, nor did he pay attention to the shocked, awe-inspiring, and even fearful gazes around him.
The restlessness in his heart seemed to have been somewhat released through this one-sided game, but a deeper sense of cold urgency still lingered in his heart.
He put away his wand, turned around, and walked straight into the corridor leading to his dormitory in the quiet atmosphere.
Avery opened his mouth, but ultimately said nothing; Alex was dumbfounded.
Hermes glanced inexplicably at Regulus's retreating figure, then at the limp Travers on the ground, before silently disappearing back into the shadows.
After tonight, the name Regulus Black may have a different meaning in Slytherin.
