Regulus of Hogwarts: Lord of the Stars

Chapter 53 Showdown with Orion

Orion recalled Regulus's unusual childhood: awakening his magic at ten months old, speaking in complete sentences at one year old, and having a far greater understanding of magic than his peers.

Reason told him that what his son said might be true.

"So, what exactly are you capable of right now?" Orion asked.

Regulus did not answer directly, but said, "If Father wants to know, he should try it himself."

A strange light flashed in Orion's eyes as he stood up. "Come with me."

On the wall at the far end of the study hung a seemingly ordinary portrait of the Black family. Orion stepped forward and lightly touched the Sirius symbol in the lower right corner of the portrait with his wand.

The portrait slowly slid to one side, revealing a hidden stone door. The stone door was engraved with complex magical runes. Orion chanted a spell, the runes lit up with red light, and the stone door slowly opened.

Inside is the Black family's training room, a spacious room with a hard black stone floor.

The walls were inlaid with runes of magical protective spells, and various training targets and props were piled up in the corners.

He had been here a few times when he was a child, but he was too young then and Orion wouldn't let him do high-intensity training here.

"No mercy." Orion walked to the center of the training room, drew his wand, and his dark green robes unfurled behind him. "Just like a real wizard duel."

Regulus also drew his wand, his fingertips gripping the familiar wood texture. The four-star model quietly activated in his mind, and magic flowed smoothly along the star trail, spreading throughout his limbs and bones.

"Begin." As soon as Orion finished speaking, his wand was raised, and a silent disarming spell, swift as lightning, shot straight into Regulus's chest.

Regulus shifted his feet slightly, dodging to the side, and at the same time tapped the ground with his wand. An invisible armor spell instantly formed in front of him, just enough to block Orion's barrier spell that followed closely behind.

He moved quickly, his figure nimbly weaving through the training room, dodging Orion's attacks.

Orion's attacks were dense and precise, using disarming spells, obstacle spells, leg-stunning spells, and petrification spells one after another without the slightest pause.

The magical energy fluctuations were profound and condensed, clearly the result of years of accumulation.

As the thirteenth head of the Black family and a member of Wizengamo, his strength far surpasses that of ordinary adult wizards.

Those who could establish themselves in Wissengamo and maintain stability for the Black family on the eve of turmoil were no ordinary people.

Regulus's defenses were equally impenetrable.

Instead of using a wide-range armor spell, he instantly generated a miniature armor spell at the required location based on the direction and speed of the spell, precisely intercepting it.

Sometimes it's a side roll, sometimes it's a quick step like teleportation; the body's flexibility and reaction speed are thanks to long-term magical guidance and physical tempering.

Every movement is concise and efficient, without any redundancy.

"Not bad, but not enough." Orion's voice rang out, and the power of the spell suddenly increased.

He waved his wand, and the stone wall on one side of the training room suddenly cracked open, sending several boulders hurtling toward Regulus.

Regulus's eyes narrowed, and he chose not to fight back.

He swung his wand rapidly, and several thunderous explosions shot out simultaneously, shattering the boulder into pieces.

At the same time, water surged rapidly in the air, carrying with it the pervasive dust and gravel, transforming into countless sharp attacks that shot towards Orion at high speed.

Orion's eyes flashed with approval, and then he waved his wand again. The sharp attack was intercepted in mid-air, ignited by black flames, and burned away in the blink of an eye.

He continued waving his wand, this time without using the usual spells.

The air in the training room suddenly became thick, and Regulus felt a powerful pressure coming at him, as if he were being squeezed by an invisible wall.

This is a pressure spell belonging to the realm of dark magic. It can directly affect the human body. The more one struggles, the greater the pressure becomes. If one cannot effectively escape or resist, one will be crushed.

Regulus took a deep breath, and his magic erupted instantly. The Immovable Armor Charm burst forth from his body, isolating him from the power of the Oppression Charm.

He began to launch the attack, tapping his wand lightly, and several silent disarming spells shot towards Orion from different angles.

At the same time, several sharp stone spikes suddenly emerged from the ground, blocking Orion's movement route. The tips of the stone spikes glowed faintly red and were coated with explosive spells.

Orion hadn't expected him to launch a sudden counterattack, and with such a cunning attack.

He quickly waved his wand, unleashing a wide-ranging armor spell that blocked the disarming spell. At the same time, he lightly touched the ground with his toes and leaped into the air, avoiding the stone spikes.

Upon landing, the tip of his wand glowed with a dark red light, and a clear black magic spell shot out, cast silently at an astonishing speed.

Regulus had anticipated this, and his body suddenly fell backward. The black and red spell grazed his shoulder and struck the stone wall behind him, leaving a charred mark.

He rolled over, pointing his wand at Orion's feet. Blue and white flames instantly spread, forcing Orion to retreat.

The commotion in the training room grew louder and louder, as the stone walls were struck by incantations, sending debris flying.

The ground was repeatedly damaged by ice, fire, and stone spikes, becoming pitted and uneven.

The air was filled with the residual magic from the collision of spells, causing the surrounding temperature to fluctuate. The runes of the protective spells lit up frequently, counteracting the overflowing destructive power.

Orion became increasingly alarmed as the game progressed.

Although Regulus's magic power was not as great as his, his control was far more precise than that of ordinary people. His spell connection, timing, and tactical application were all so mature that he was not like a young wizard.

His defense, in particular, seems passive, yet he always manages to block attacks at the most crucial moments and even use the environment to counterattack. This kind of combat awareness is something that many adult wizards do not possess.

He no longer held back, swinging his wand faster and faster, alternating between dark magic and conventional magic.

Spells of oppression, cutting, bone-cracking, explosion, lightning strike, and transformation intertwine to form a net of attacks that envelop Regulus.

Regulus's breathing was steady, and his eyes were clear.

His brain was working at high speed, calculating the trajectory and power of each spell. Countless miniature armor spells instantly appeared in front of, behind, and to the left and right of him, precisely intercepting every attack.

His body moved like the most agile swift, weaving through the attack net and occasionally launching a counterattack.

He could clearly sense the trajectory of Orion's magical flow, predict the direction of his next spell, and every counterattack was aimed directly at Orion's weakness.

"Bang!"

With a loud bang, Orion's powerful Barrier Spell struck Regulus's shoulder, but Regulus only staggered a few steps.

That's a pretty brutal blow. An ordinary person would probably cough up blood after taking such a hit, and someone weaker might lose their grip on their wand and become unable to fight.

But it had little effect on Regulus. Taking advantage of his retreat, he fired a very subtle, silent spell from his wand, which struck Orion's wand.

Orion's wand trembled slightly, disrupting his attack rhythm.

Regulus seized the opportunity, unleashing his full magical power, and fired several spells simultaneously, each aimed at Orion's vital points.

Orion's eyes narrowed, and he quickly retreated, simultaneously unleashing a sturdy armor spell to block all attacks.

But at that moment, he suddenly discovered that countless stone vines had sprung up from the ground and wrapped around his ankles.

This was a transformation technique that he hadn't discovered at all!

Orion paused for a moment, then chuckled and tapped his wand lightly. The vines instantly disintegrated, turning into dust that fell to the ground.

But in that brief pause, Regulus was already close, his wand pointed directly at his chest.

Just then, Orion's wand suddenly emitted a dazzling white light—a powerful light spell that instantly illuminated the entire training room.

Regulus instinctively closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, Orion was already behind him, his wand gently tapping the back of his neck.

"You lost." Orion's voice was calm, his breathing steady; dealing with Regulus in his current state was not difficult.

Regulus stopped what he was doing, put down his wand, and instead of feeling frustrated, he smiled slightly: "I see the difference now."

Orion put away his wand, his tone full of emotion: "You really surprised me. To be able to do this at the age of eleven, many adult wizards might not be your match."

He looked at the mess in the training room: "Your magic control, combat awareness, and understanding of magic have all reached an astonishing level, completely unlike what you should be like at your age."

"This is only the result of half a year." Regulus turned around, put away his wand, and his breathing became rapid. "We haven't encountered any bottlenecks yet, and we will only get stronger in the future."

Orion took a deep breath, then nodded, patted Regulus on the shoulder forcefully, and didn't ask him how he had done it.

"I have to admit, you have indeed toned down your behavior at Hogwarts."

He then added, "He's toned it down a lot."

Upon hearing this, Regulus smiled, his expression genuine.
