Chapter 113 Arrogant at First, Respectful Later

Seeing that Batman and the others were beginning to verify and study the results of their new deductions, Gent turned around and quietly left the watchtower alone.

Once they reached the sea level near the metropolis, Gente reached into her waistband and pulled out a normal-sized earpiece.

This was the tool that Atom left for him to continue communicating with the Syndicate. As for Atom herself, she had already gotten off at Watchtower Station.

"As you have heard, there is currently no Pandora's box in this universe."

Before Night Owl could speak, Superpower's slightly worried voice rang out.

"What should we do then? We probably don't have much time."

That's your problem.

Jeanne gave a cold laugh.

This rhetoric is all too familiar; it just goes to show that Night Owl truly is a copy of Batman.

He could predict what the two of them would say next.

After complaining about the difficulty of the plan's progress, Night Owl pretended to be troubled and begged Jane to help again, promising some tangible but intangible benefits. Super Tyrant feigned anger and didn't want to share any more of the pie, so Night Owl tried to persuade him again with earnest words.

Then, as long as Jeanne takes the bait, the other side gets a free laborer.

It's just like how Superman and Batman in this world tricked Lee Jung.

The old sow wore one set of... that stuff after another.

"I gave you the intelligence to help Atomic Girl infiltrate the Justice League's Watchtower. If you still don't have confidence in the plan, why don't you just wait to die in that world?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Superpower, who had been patiently cooperating with Night Owl's act, suddenly became furious.

He snatched the earpiece from Night Owl, his tone filled with a sinister, threatening undertone.

"Kid, you'd better not be too arrogant."

"Since when has it been okay for you to interrupt people when they're talking?"

Jane gave the other person a sarcastic remark, then slammed the headset shut.

He couldn't stand Superba's bad temper; if they couldn't connect, he'd rather not talk at all.

Hearing the static of the communication being forcibly cut off, Superb was incredulous for a moment, then carefully considered Janet's last words, and his whole body turned red in an instant.

Luckily, the anger didn't cause any serious problems.

It took a lot of effort to suppress the anger rising in his heart. Superpower gritted his teeth and looked at Night Owl.

"Why does he talk to me like that? Does he think he's so great? A guy oppressed by Superman, why isn't he afraid I'll just kill him when I get to that world?"

Night Owl glanced helplessly at the ruins in front of him.

Just now, in order to calm down quickly, Superba smashed all the expensive equipment, such as computers, in his base to pieces.

But upon closer reflection, Night Owl also began to vaguely sense that something was amiss.

If that abnormal person who calls himself Jeanne is afraid of Superman, why is he so confident in front of Superman?

Why is Superpower the leader of the crime syndicate? Isn't it because Superpower is prone to killing people when he's in a bad mood?

Neither side intends to completely break ties, and theoretically, the cooperation is still continuing. How dare they be so arrogant in front of Superpower?

As they approached the beach villa, Jeanne suddenly felt something was wrong.

He concealed himself slightly, circled around, and flew silently along the edge of the sea cliff before finally stepping onto the beach without a sound.

After carefully observing the traces of sand on the beach, I noticed a stealthy figure hovering near the villa entrance, its feet barely touching the ground.

"What are you doing here?"

"ah!!"

Zinte's sudden greeting startled Zatana, who was peering out the window.

Zatana turned around abruptly, and only after recognizing it was Gente did she pat her chest and breathe a sigh of relief.

After catching her breath for a while, her thighs, clad in fishnet stockings, were trembling.

-

"Why don't you make a sound! Luckily, I don't have any hereditary heart disease or anything like that."

Zatana gave Jeanne a reproachful look.

But when Zatana met Gente's eyes, an invisible pressure suddenly gripped her heart, and her breath seemed to be choked in an instant.

There was no smile on Jeanne's face, or even any other expression.

Only those indifferent eyes held a gaze that didn't seem to be looking at one's own kind, but rather as if looking down upon some lower, more primitive species.

"What are you doing here?"

Jeanne repeated the same thing again, but the atmosphere became even more somber.

Zatana suddenly realized what was happening.

As a mage, she was getting a little too close to this guy who was comparable to a superman.

Even though Zatana is an extremely powerful mage, in a sense, given ten minutes to prepare, she could still use some exaggerated spell to cause planetary-level destruction.

But for Jeanne, at such a close face-to-face distance, she didn't even have time to utter half a syllable.

Fortunately, Zatana reacted well on the spot.

Instead of trying to cover it up, she spoke frankly to Jeanne.

"You scared me. I just wanted to visit Rachel. I went back and looked up some ancient magic books about her magic seal problem and came up with some new ideas."

Jeanne's expression finally softened.

"But you never acted so furtively when you came over before."

With the invisible pressure gone, Zatana finally breathed a sigh of relief.

She also discovered that Janet became much more agreeable whenever Rachel was mentioned.

"What do you mean by sneaking around? I thought we were friends."

"————Rachel's friend, you've joined the Justice League, so my information shouldn't be hard to find. But I still apologize for startling you earlier."

Gente opened the door, and Zatanna wanted to follow her in, but was blocked by the door that Gente casually closed.

Who says that?!

Zatana rolled her eyes and stood angrily at the door with her hands on her hips.

After a moment, Jenny opened the door again.

"Rachel has been lacking in mental energy lately, she might be doing some kind of deep meditation."

Zatana snorted coldly at such a blatant order to leave, and turned to walk away.

"Let's talk about it next time!"

Seeing Zatana's attitude, Gente finally dispelled her doubts and quickly stepped forward to grab Zatana's arm.

After all, the commotion of Superman's supposed battle with the Wolf had drawn him away from Earth for a moment, and he hadn't actually seen the Wolf. When he returned, he discovered that Zatanna had gotten so close to Rachel while he was away.

The series of events happened too coincidentally.

Jeanne inevitably began to wonder if she had been exposed, or if the Justice League was using her as a diversionary tactic.

But it wouldn't do to really offend Zatanna too much; Rachel's problem still needs to be solved.

To date, Zatana is one of the few magicians he can trust; she is skilled enough and has good character.

"Um, maybe we could exchange contact information and schedule a time."

Zatana turned around irritably and gestured downwards with her eyes to her wrist.

Jenny chuckled awkwardly and released the other person's arm.

"Then let's do it tomorrow. No matter how much you meditate, a day is enough to recover your energy."

"Okay, okay, I apologize again for my earlier offense, Miss Zatana, you are truly a beautiful and kind-hearted magician."

For Rachel's sake, a few compliments are free; Jeanne still has the nerve to be arrogant at first and then obsequious.

Watching Zatana storm off into the distance, using her magic, Gente closed the door again.
