The aliens who were picked up by Superman at the beginning
Chapter 30 Have you ever caught fish?
Before Gotham's night had completely faded, Li Zhen and Rachel embarked on their journey to Boston.
He leaped into the air, one hand linked with Rachel's arm, and soared over towering Gothic buildings, the night wind brushing past their ears.
However, considering that Rachel's physique wasn't that strong, Li Zhen didn't dare to fly too fast.
The two quietly enjoyed the Gotham night view for a while.
There wasn't much to see; it was pitch black, and occasionally you could hear some rude shouts and curses coming from the darkness.
"It's a bit slower than your magic, but it's still pretty reliable, right?"
Li Zhen tilted her head and smiled.
Rachel pulled her hood tighter, her purple eyes shining brightly in the night, her tone tinged with impatience.
"Naive, and the wind in the sky is quite cold."
"How about I fly slower?"
"Need not."
She mumbled a few indistinct incantations, and a thin, almost transparent purple light shield covered her body. Then, Rachel let Li Zhen carry her flying for nearly an hour.
"Let me try it my way."
Rachel suddenly spoke, signaling Li Zhen to stop.
After landing, she quickly walked to the center of a vast wasteland. A faint purple magical aura emanated from her fingertips, and a magic circle, more complex than any magic she had ever used before, slowly unfolded on the ground.
"Long-distance teleportation requires one minute of preparation time, so don't move around."
Li Zhen stood in the center of the magic circle as instructed.
Rachel's gestures became more and more hurried, and the light of the magic circle grew brighter and brighter. Just when it was about to be completed, the entire magic circle suddenly trembled violently and then shattered like broken glass.
The pale purple magical smoke instantly dissipated into the air, leaving only a few wisps of residual energy on the ground.
"It failed."
Rachel withdrew her hand, her expression calm.
"Failure? You're not injured, are you? No magical backlash?"
Li Zhen suddenly realized that it might be due to her special physical condition, and her expression showed apology.
Rachel shook her head.
"I'm different from ordinary magicians; I just expend some magic power."
Li Zhen stepped forward, looking at the remaining runes on the ground, her brows furrowing slightly.
"Is it my problem?"
Rachel nodded, her tone tinged with helplessness.
"Teleportation magic works by locating the soul. A normal person's soul is fixed in the body, and its location remains unchanged—but you are different now."
She paused, then added.
"The moment you move, the positioning magic will be torn apart by your body. You will probably have to remain quite still."
A thought struck Li Zhen, and she subconsciously gathered all her strength.
The contractions of every muscle and the flow of blood in the veins, which once required conscious control, now moved as slowly as if they were limbs.
The evolution brought about by the emotional spectrum not only unified his soul and body, but also allowed him to completely master his own power.
It even far surpassed the goal that Diana had pursued when she taught him—the inner peace of mind and body.
"I'll try to maintain a relative stillness."
He stood still again, his muscles tense but not stiff, and even his breathing was adjusted to the most even frequency. His whole body was as still as a sculpture.
Rachel's deadpan eyes remained expressionless as she simply waved her hands a few times, reactivating the magic circle.
This time, the runes of the magic circle flowed steadily without the slightest tremor, and a pale purple light enveloped the two people and the surrounding space.
Li Zhen felt a flash of light before her eyes, and the air around her instantly changed from the coldness of the wasteland to a warm feeling with a salty and damp scent.
This long-distance teleportation spell spanned the distance between two states.
Li Zhen flew high into the sky, then took out the communicator given to him by Batman. After fumbling around for a moment, he turned on the location function to confirm his current position—this little gadget looked like an MP3 player and had quite a few functions.
The two then took turns going, arriving directly at their destination in Boston.
"It's more stable than I expected."
Rachel leaned against the chimney on the roof, her hood covering most of her face, casually looking down at the street. A faint magical aura surrounded her, and she habitually erected an invisible barrier.
After Li Zhen lifted the tan waterproof tarpaulin, she squatted down and ran her fingertips over the thin frost that had condensed on the surface of the cabin.
The outer shell, crafted from Luoxing alloy, gleamed with a cold, matte sheen in the morning light.
"Just pack some essentials; this thing doesn't have much space, and there's no room for more."
Li Zhen raised her hand and pressed the hatch switch. The hydraulic system emitted a slight hum, and the hatch slowly opened upwards, revealing a simple control panel and storage area inside.
As he bent down to rummage through the containers, his fingertips touched several cylindrical containers. Upon picking them up, he discovered they were several bottles of Luoxing nutritional supplements.
Only now did he suddenly remember that when he was seriously injured and in a daze, he had subconsciously grabbed some supplies and stuffed them into the escape pod. However, after arriving on Earth, one unexpected event after another occurred, and he forgot about these things.
Li Zhen suddenly became curious and carefully scanned the cabin with her eyes.
Bruce Wayne repaired the escape pod but didn't touch anything inside; perhaps he put it back exactly as it was after inspecting it.
"Could there be some things I don't know about?"
Driven by curiosity, he reached out and touched and tapped various parts of the cabin until he felt a slight hollowness at his fingertips.
Following the feel, he found a hidden button.
A metal plate slowly popped out, revealing a hidden storage compartment inside.
A black and gray emergency spacesuit lay quietly in the storage compartment; it was lightweight and had a familiar feel.
Li Zhen picked it up and examined it for a moment, and her memory suddenly returned.
Back on Lostar, after he killed the first Vitrum, the surviving Lostar people dragged the body away. He was preoccupied with his own thoughts at the time and didn't bother to care.
It now appears that the Lorians were fully prepared, and this spacesuit was temporarily modified from the white battle suit of the Vitrumians.
It features a sealed neck area and a life support helmet, and is painted in a dark gray color that contrasts sharply with Wittrum's suit.
It reveals a resolute determination to sever ties with the enemy who wiped out their clan.
A complex feeling welled up in Li Zhen's heart. She carefully put the spacesuit away and closed the hidden storage compartment.
"I'm going to say goodbye to Mr. Prince, I'll be right back."
He spoke in the direction Rachel had disappeared into.
Rachel's voice came from the air, her tone flat.
"Remember to have dinner; don't make me eat cold bread again."
After saying that, he slipped into the escape pod, his invisibility spell still in effect.
Li Zhen waited a while, until there were more pedestrians on the street below, before quietly opening the stairwell door on the rooftop and walking down the stairs.
Just as she reached the corner on the second floor, she ran into Vanessa, who had just gotten up. She was wearing loose cotton pajamas, and her eyes lit up with surprise when she saw Li Zhen.
"Li Zhen? You're finally back! Where have you been these past few days?"
Li Zhen paused, returned a smile, and asked casually.
"Isn't Diana here? I was hoping to say hello to her."
Vanessa's smile faded slightly, and her tone carried a hint of regret.
"The night you didn't come back, she came back very late and was in a bad mood. The next morning she said she was going back to Paradise Island to relax. It's been several days now and there's still no news."
Vanessa seemed both annoyed and worried.
"I thought you two left together."
Li Zhen nodded knowingly and remained silent for a moment.
"I'm here to pick up some things; I'm preparing to leave Boston."
He nodded slightly to Vanessa, his tone sincere.
"Thank you for taking care of the escape pod during this time."
Vanessa was clearly reluctant to part with him.
"Come visit me in Boston anytime you have time. Once I've finished my studies, I'll show you around the city. The sunrise over the sea is amazing."
After saying goodbye to Vanessa, Li Zhen returned to the roof and activated the escape pod.
Rachel raised her hand and cast an invisibility spell, enveloping the entire escape pod.
The next stop was the cabin in the suburbs of the metropolis—Li Zhen wanted to visit Tom again, and there was plenty of open space and few people there, so it would be a safe place to put the escape pod.
After a silent flight of more than ten minutes, the escape pod landed precisely on the beach next to the cabin.
Li Zhen was the first to step out of the escape pod and walk towards the wooden house.
The wooden door was ajar. He pushed it open gently. The room was still clean and tidy, but it was filled with a cold, deserted atmosphere.
There was no dust on the tables and chairs, indicating that they had been carefully cleaned before leaving, but there was no smoke on the stove, and the food in the cupboards had been emptied. The farm tools in the corner were neatly arranged, yet a thin veil of silence covered them.
Li Zhen paused for a few seconds, walked to the window, looked at the surging waves in the distance, and ran her fingertips along the cold windowsill.
It wasn't a fishing trip at sea.
The cabin door was unlocked, and all the fishing gear was stored inside, indicating that Tom had left voluntarily and had no intention of returning.
Rachel walked over to him, looked at the empty cabin, and stood quietly with him for a moment without saying a word.
"What are you thinking about?"
"It's nothing... Have you ever gone fishing in the sea?"
