Tokyo: Magical Girl Shatters My Dream of Going Public

Chapter 84 E-121 [Accumulated Desire]

Chapter 84 E-121 [Accumulated Desire] (3/5)

The van turned the corner and slowly drove into the ramp of the old shopping mall's underground parking garage.

Inside the carriage, Baizhi twisted his body, staring intently through the narrow rear window at the two figures receding into the distance across the road.

"I knew it."

She turned back, her voice laced with undisguised sarcasm.

"If a man suddenly says he's busy and contacts you less, he's probably having an affair. Didn't you feel like he was hiding something from you last time? Well, here's the evidence."

The car started going downhill, and the light suddenly dimmed.

Bai Zhi suddenly patted the back of the driver's seat: "Stop the car!"

The driver slowed down.

"Doctor, what are you going to do?" Sakura looked up.

"I'll get an explanation for you!" Bai Zhi reached for the car door. "Now that we've caught him red-handed, let's see how he tries to deny it."

"Keep going." Sakura's voice wasn't loud, but it was clear.

The driver hesitated for a second, then stepped on the gas, and the car slid back into the shadows deep inside the garage.

Bai Zhi suddenly turned around: "Why?! Now is the perfect time!"

Sakura let out a soft breath, her gaze falling on the hands clasped together on her knees.

"Ye-kun and I—we are not dating." Her voice was calm, as if stating a fact unrelated to herself. "If we're not dating, how can there be any talk of 'cheating'?"

"Moreover," she paused, "there must be a reason why Ye Jun didn't tell me the truth. When he wants to tell me—he will naturally do so."

"You're so naive!" Bai Zhi slammed his hand on the chair in exasperation. "At this rate, you'll never find happiness! You have to keep a close eye on men!"

Sakura didn't reply.

Kurokawa has been like this since he was a child.

He is always ahead of everyone else.

And she followed him the whole time, chasing after him...

He hasn't said anything yet, there must be a reason...

I'll wait until the future, when he's willing to talk, and then I'll listen to her properly...

The car came to a stop deep in the garage, and the back door of the escort vehicle in front opened with a "bang." Fully armed SG team members filed out, their footsteps echoing in the empty garage.

The engine shut off.

Sakura calmed herself down a bit, then reached out and unlocked the car door beside her.

"Doctor," she turned her head, her tone regaining its usual calm, professional tone, "we have more important things to do."

She was the first to push open the door and get out of the car.

The cool air from outside, mixed with the dusty smell unique to the underground parking garage, rushed in.

Baizhi pouted and reluctantly followed him out of the car, still muttering to himself.

"This kind of scumbag—he'll never admit it unless we catch him red-handed—"

Sakura turned her back to her and walked toward the assembling armed squad.

Her steps were steady, her back straight, and her long hair drew a neat arc in the dim light.

Baizhi couldn't see her expression.

All I saw was her raise her hand, deftly tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear, then take the tactical tablet from her teammate and begin checking the task list.

My fingertips slid across the screen quickly, without the slightest tremor.

In front of so many people.

Bai Zhi didn't want to bring up what had just happened, so he shut his mouth and stayed by her side.

In just a short while, Sakura finished assigning tasks, and the team members quickly dispersed and took their positions.

She turned to Baizhi and said, "Doctor, let's go, the target is upstairs."

Baizhi followed Yingzi toward the mall's emergency exit.

The doorknob was covered with a sticky, translucent substance that felt nauseous to the touch.

Enter the emergency exit.

The air was filled with a sweet, rotten smell, mixed with the odor of dust and mold, which assaulted the nostrils.

The passageway was not dark.

Every few meters along the wall hung a glaring construction light, and tangled wires dragged on the ground, connecting to the roaring generator outside.

The group walked through the passageway and arrived at the atrium on the first floor of the mall.

The sight before them made everyone gasp for breath.

The once spacious atrium is now occupied by a huge, deep purple "cocoon".

It resembles a giant tumor growing on the wall of a shopping mall, spreading upwards from the ground floor, attaching to the railings and ceilings of the second and third floors, reaching a height of over ten meters.

The surface of the cocoon is not smooth, but covered with dense, unevenly sized raised veins.

It pulsates slightly like a blood vessel, and its surface is covered with a layer of moist, oily sheen.

The lingering afternoon sunlight slanted in through the broken skylight at the top of the mall, cutting out several murky beams of light in the air.

Dust particles danced slowly in the light.

And inside that giant cocoon.

The deep purple energy beat slowly and heavily, like a living heart.

"Thump————·————·————"

With each pulsation, the veins on the surface of the cocoon become brighter or darker, and the stench in the surrounding air intensifies.

On the third floor, researchers in protective suits stood on a makeshift platform, scanning the cocoon with instruments.

On the floor below, more SG technicians were busy recording data and setting up equipment.

Footsteps and whispers echoed in the empty shopping mall, creating a somber background noise.

Bai Zhi walked to Yingzi's side, looked up at the enormous object, and murmured, "Is this E-121—[The Accumulated Desire]?"

Her voice was soft, yet clearly audible in the eerie silence.

Sakura did not answer.

She simply stood there quietly, gazing at the cocoon that pulsated as if it were alive, her eyes reflecting the rhythmic, shimmering purple light.

"If such a vengeful spirit were to incubate in a busy urban area..."

'

Sakura stopped mid-sentence.

But everyone knows that such a situation is something no one wants to see.

Sakura took a deep breath, forcibly banishing that swaying figure from her mind.

The rotten air rushed into my lungs, stinging my throat.

"Doctor," she turned to Bai Zhi, her voice now calm and even, "this is the first time we've witnessed the birth of a vengeful spirit. Time is limited, so please hurry and begin your research."

Bai Zhi pushed up his glasses, a researcher's glint flashing in his eyes.

My gossipy thoughts vanished instantly.

"Understood." She replied, beckoning to her waiting assistants behind her. "Bring the sampler and spectrometer, and follow me!"

The group walked quickly toward the temporary research platform set up beneath the giant cocoon, their footsteps echoing in the empty shopping mall.

Sakura turned around and faced the SG armed team members and technicians scattered throughout the courtyard.

She raised her arm and ordered, "Attention everyone, the operation begins at 3:00 AM."

"Before that, complete all pre-battle checks and area lockdown. Immediately deploy the puppets and prototype combat suits; this area must be so secure that not even a mouse can escape."

The team members responded in unison, "Yes!"

The order has been issued.

The crowd quickly sprang into action, like precise gears meshing and turning.

Sakura stood still, looking up at the pulsating, deep purple cocoon.

But deep within those eyes flickered a profound worry that most people wouldn't even notice...

She took out her phone and checked the signal strength.

There is only one space.

The signal is very poor here because of the influence of vengeful spirits.

"I hope he can leave here soon."
