Chapter 119 Farewell, Another Gotham
The blue light from the portal tore a hole in this world, sending sparks flying through it.
"Welcome to the end of the world."
Wasteland Luther didn't show much enthusiasm as a host; he turned and walked toward the control panel that had been converted from a former subway transfer station.
"If you want to enjoy the scenery, please hurry, because according to the agreement, the air filtration system here will soon face a lung pressure test of tens of millions."
Behind him, members of the Justice League passed through the unstable, flickering tunnel one after another. Superman was the last to land, his golden light still shimmering slightly. Together with Shum, they were like two giant, moving light sources, instantly illuminating the dim shelter as if it were daytime.
"Pfft... Ptooey, ptooey, ptooey!"
As soon as Xiu En arrived, he picked up something that looked like engine debris from the ground, took a bite, and then his face quickly scrunched up like a bun.
He threw the piece of scrap metal on the ground with a look of disgust, and then vigorously rubbed the sole of his shoe on the concrete.
"Why does it still smell like this? Depleted uranium is one thing, but this rusty smell is so strong it's like it was pulled from a shipwreck hundreds of years ago. I'm telling you, Baldy."
Shuen pointed to the pieced-together armor of Wasteland Luther.
"You really don't have anything good to eat here? What about those high-tech alloys? What about those shape-memory metals?"
"This is the apocalypse. If you want to eat well, help me fix this damn turret."
Wasteland Luther didn't even turn his head, his fingers flying across the dusty keyboard, a series of green navigation coordinates popping up on the screen.
"Night Owl has already sent the data packet. This is not just immigration; it's a blood transfusion from one world to another."
Batman walked to the control panel and watched as the dense red blocks were being replaced by green ones representing habitable areas.
"I will uproot Gotham first."
On the holographic screen, Night Owl spoke coldly.
"I'll use a quantum trigger to slice through the entire city and teleport directly above your shelter. I'll take even a single brick, as long as it's from Gotham."
"I'd accept even hell if it meant living."
Wasteland Luther said he didn't care.
"I've cleared out the four-story residential area below. It's a bit cramped, but for those who are used to living in the shadow of supervillains, being able to breathe and not get killed is heaven. In exchange, I don't mind having another special district called Gotham here."
In the corner, Victor was carefully sealing the shimmering green box.
The chip is now in a state of absolute stillness, and the grid's consciousness seems to be completely self-enclosed.
"I'm taking it back to the interstellar laboratory."
"Steelbow said in a deep voice."
"The emotions generated by that kind of computing power, if positive, might become the key to purifying this wasteland. If negative, then it's a data bomb that hasn't been detonated yet."
"Or we could use it as the server core for our new base."
Xiu En leaned closer, his eyes lingering on the glittering box.
"It's so bright, it must taste like a mint popping boba, right? Are you sure you don't want to share some with me?"
Give up.
Victor stuffed the box directly into the hidden compartment of his breastplate; it was the first time in his life he had protected something more than his heart.
Superman stood in front of the massive blast door of the shelter, peering through the crack at the shattered moon outside.
Although it was only a short interdimensional expedition of a few hours, from the rule of a tyrant to this wasteland in need of rebuilding hope, he felt that some of his beliefs had been baptized.
The Justice League is not just a group of people in costumes fighting; they are truly carrying the weight of the world, or even more than one world.
"It seems to be over for now."
Diana put away the Lasso of Truth.
"But I think this is just the beginning. The shadow Batman mentioned in Earth-3, the one called the Anti-Monitor, hasn't really shown up yet."
"That might be on the next menu."
Xiu En yawned.
"Now, I'm going back to find my Ah Fu. I miss real food."
Ah Fu seemed to hear someone calling him and appeared instantly.
"American Comics: Praise the Sun Starting in Gotham!" is sparking a reading frenzy, haven't you read it yet?
The silver tray that Afu was holding tilted slightly, and Xiu En snatched three special beef sandwiches and a high-energy alloy rod of unknown material from it with lightning speed.
He completely ignored the old butler's elegant eye roll, which seemed to want to say something but was actually not, and while stuffing food into his mouth like a hamster, he pointed indistinctly at Barry Allen, who was still in shock beside him.
"I'll remember that, kid in the red shirt."
Xiu En swallowed a mouthful of metal that would have shattered the teeth of an ordinary person.
"When you go back to that world full of lunatics later, call me first if you see anything glowing. You missed at least three wires containing trace amounts of nitrogen metal earlier; those are top-grade sashimi ingredients."
"We're there to fight crime, not to collect garbage!"
Barry protested weakly.
"And my pizza was pineapple flavored, that's practically a crime."
Bruce was adjusting the new dimensional beacon, and a dense stream of data flashed across his tactical goggles—the gravitational wave parameters that Night Owl had just transmitted.
"The passage will reopen in five minutes. This time, the objective is to eliminate the remaining forces and provide security for the large-scale relocation."
Batman's voice echoed in the hangar.
"Shuen, you can eat those metals however you like, just don't damage the energy nodes of the portal."
Earth 3.
Compared to last time, this time there was a greater sense of panic and anxiety.
With the downfall and disappearance of the Syndicate leaders, the lesser villains who usually bullied others tried to escape from that dying world like frightened cockroaches.
"Get out of the way! This is my territory!"
Just as a thug in modified mech armor raised his laser gun above his head, a golden light cleanly sliced off his entire mechanical arm.
The piece of metal seemed to have seen its father again, automatically detaching from its owner's shoulder and happily flying away to a distance.
"This is too fragile."
Xiu En caught the robotic arm and squeezed it as if he were selecting sugarcane.
"With a gold content of less than three percent, it's useless except for being slightly brittle."
He casually tossed the scrap metal to Wonder Woman behind him, who then slammed the villain, who was trying to sneak up on him, into the wall with her shield.
"Pay attention, Hermes' relative."
Diana disdainfully pushed the scrap metal aside.
"We need to clean up this mess before the owls make their move."
The entire earth began to tremble, not like an earthquake, but more like a puzzle piece being pried up by an unseen giant hand.
Night Owl stands atop the tallest tower in Gotham City in that world, the only pillar of stability.
Purple quantum glow spread wildly along the city's underground pipe network, vividly outlining the silhouette of that crime capital in the darkness.
With a deafening roar, the city of millions of people, along with the hundreds of meters of bedrock beneath it, rose abruptly from the ground.
"What a spectacular scene of illegal construction being moved."
Aquaman stood in the wasteland's receiving area, holding a flask in his hand.
Above him, the sky seemed to have split open like a giant maw, and the shadows of the city, filled with countless concrete fragments and screams, obscured the moon.
Wasteland Luther's exoskeleton was operating beyond its limits, guiding massive anti-gravity devices to absorb the terrifying mass.
Even for someone like him who prioritizes technology, taking over a city personally is an almost miraculous experience.
A massive blast of air blew radioactive dust from the wasteland in all directions. When the steel jungle called "Gotham" finally settled on the wasteland with a roar, a certain cause and effect seemed to come to a close.
The AI of the otherworldly Luther has been broadcasting the new Order Act across all frequency bands. For these troublemakers who have been moved from one hell to another, being ruled by a bald man doesn't seem like such an unacceptable thing.
"So, that's it?"
Xiu En stood at the edge of the connecting passage, watching the door gradually close.
"I thought Night Owl would at least give me two of his high-tech, reflective spaceships as a thank you gift. What a cheapskate."
"He threw millions of people at us; that's the greatest thank you gift."
Batman shut down the portal generator and took a deep look at the back of his brother, who was gradually disappearing into the dimensional rift.
