American comics: Praising the sun, starting from Gotham!
Chapter 151 Compared to those Kryptonians, Shuen preferred gossip.
On the street, Ivy's vines were busy dismembering the steel behemoth.
As the outer shell was peeled away, the capsule-like escape pods and functional areas were exposed to the sunlight.
I didn't know until I looked, and what I found was truly rewarding.
"One, two, three... plus the female adjutant I threw into the flower bed, the group that Luther dealt with, and the general lying here pretending to be dead."
Xiu En's eyes shone with a light even more intense than the midday sun in the metropolis.
From the hatches that had been pried open by the plants, dozens more Kryptonians wearing bodysuits rolled out one after another.
There were scientists in charge of the technology, assault soldiers as strong as a wall, and even a few non-combat personnel who had not yet fully awakened from cryogenic hibernation.
This whole bunch of aliens, placed in these ruins, is like a top-tier labor dispatch gift package that fell from the sky.
"Hey boss, look at that big guy."
Shuon pointed to a soldier who was even bigger than Zod, the unfortunate fellow with a kryptonite spear pointed at his head.
"I've checked it out. That guy's bone density is five hundred times that of an Earthling. If you put him on a construction site in Gotham right now, as long as he's fed, this group of people could renovate Wayne Tower twice in three days."
He was calculating rapidly, even planning to call the foreman, Old John, to share the good news.
But a red figure stood firmly between him and the group of skilled laborers who were already trembling with fear.
Superman took a deep breath. Although he still had the marks of the Kryptonite burns on his body, his righteous aura almost materialized into holy light on his forehead.
"No, Mr. Shuen! You can't."
"They are war criminals, yes, but they are also my last kin in this universe. We are not the Kryptonians of the past, nor will we become new tyrants. They will be tried, subjected to a public trial even under human law, and imprisoned in special prisons to atone for their sins! But I will never allow them to become slaves."
"Even if that prison isn't even finished yet?"
Luther walked over and crushed a fragment of a LexCorp GG logo printed on it with his metal foot.
He gave an undisguised sneer at the naive ideas of this Son of Light.
"I can provide the space, and I could even cram them into a quantum stasis field right now. But I must remind you that half of these people were thinking of turning your planet into a giant golf course just ten minutes ago."
"That's exactly what distinguishes us from them, Luther."
Superman remained unyielding.
Shuen smacked his lips, looking at this group of walking super cranes, living aurora generators, and humanoid self-propelled pile drivers, who were about to be sent to jail by that boy scout in a tight suit.
This feeling of heartbreak is probably like seeing someone using a rare, discontinued Aston Martin to drive an unlicensed taxi, or seeing someone using an 82 Lafite to stew pig's trotters.
"Alright, alright."
Xiu En broke off a piece of memory metal from the spaceship and threw it into his mouth to vent his frustration.
"Public trial it is, jail time it is. But let me make this clear from the start: we will not contribute a single penny to the construction of that special prison."
He pointed to Zod, who was tied up like a dumpling by Ivy.
"At least we should retain the right to dismantle this ship. There's still a gap in my sewer system that needs some high-end waste to fill."
Clark looked at his compatriots who had once wanted to kill him, but now seemed somewhat lost and bewildered because they had lost their leader and were exposed to solar radiation.
A complex emotion flickered in his eyes before he regained his warm smile.
"Thank you for your understanding, Mr. Hugh. As for the spaceship wreckage, you can take it as long as it doesn't contain those dangerous weapon engines."
"in addition!"
He lowered his voice and added somewhat embarrassedly.
"Louise said she'd like to invite everyone to her apartment for a casual dinner tonight, if you don't mind the potentially cramped space."
Louise arrived at the scene at this time.
With a look that seemed to say "I know everything," Xiu En scanned Clark's face, which had been cleansed of dust but was now gradually turning red, and the ace reporter next to him, who exuded an aura of 1.8 meters tall and held a recording pen as if he were holding a gun.
"If I remember correctly,"
Shuen's teasing tone was even more lively than when he was convincing believers in Gotham.
"I remember when you acquired Planet Daily? Back then, your relationship was just that of a slightly clueless, big intern and that female devil who wanted to steal the headlines."
"It's only been a few days? Goodness, has this fast-forwarded straight to a confession session where I know who you are and I also know you love me?"
He pointed to Clark, who hadn't even had time to put his disguise glasses back on.
"They even know his identity now. What, are you expecting me to see an exclusive report on the front page of the Daily Planet titled 'That Idiot Who Took Off His Glasses Is Actually a God' one day?"
"I don't need the headlines to tell me the truth, Advisor Shuen."
Louise took a step forward, her eyes, capable of seeing through the lies of half the politicians in the metropolis, meeting Hugh's gaze without flinching.
Although there was a slight, barely noticeable redness behind her ears, her response was as sharp as her reporting.
"I knew it from the moment he foolishly tried to stop my bleeding with his eyes in the Arctic, and then refused to admit it. If you're planning to give me some kind of non-disclosure agreement lecture at this point, I suggest you save your breath. I know better than any of you what this means."
She casually straightened Superman's cape, which had been blown askew by the strong wind.
"As for you, Mr. Advisor, instead of worrying about our progress, you should worry about how you're going to explain to the world tomorrow why the Shadow Lord of Gotham and the Light Bulb of Gotham appeared in Metropolis and even dismantled someone else's spaceship."
"Perhaps I should... I mean..."
As one of the most powerful men on the planet, Clark looked at Louise, then at Hugh, who was watching the drama unfold, and tried to use his super hearing to find an excuse to escape, but unfortunately, Metropolis was too safe for even the cats to bother with him.
"I'm just an intern, Louise. I mean, um... we haven't... well..."
"Hey, come on, big guy."
Xiu En let out a laugh that would infuriate any single person or arrogant person.
"I didn't see you stutter this much when you were fighting that general in the sky."
Bruce silently turned off the listening channel that might have recorded some unspeakable conversations, and coughed at the opportune moment.
This is mainly because the sunflowers next to it are implying that the Shuen apartment is too small to spread its branches.
"I think any kind of dinner would be better than sitting here looking at this huge crime scene."
The billionaire concluded.
"Go ahead, Shuen. I think since it's a simple meal, you should be able to accept a diet without heavy metals."
Clark gave his Bat colleague, who had always been cold and aloof in Gotham, a grateful look and decided to let bygones be bygones by the fact that the other man had pulled out a whole case of kryptonite earlier.
"My mom will be sending me an apple pie tonight."
He quickly added that it was like fishing.
"Authentic Kansas flavor."
"Apple pie? Deal."
Shuen decided to forget about these Kryptonians for now.
He waved his hand.
"Lead the way, Clark. I'll tell you if it tastes bad!"
