Chapter 175 Beyond the Rainbow
The storm seemed to come alive, roaring in obedience to the arm that held up the warhammer.
Lightning tore through the dark clouds and rushed toward the ground, gathering on Thor's body. His crimson cloak fluttered in the gale, billowing like a battle flag.
Mjolnir hummed joyfully in his hand, as if the artifact was expressing its joy at reunion with its master.
"I am Thor, son of Odin."
His voice pierced through the entire wasteland amidst the booming thunder.
Thor's eyes, crackling with azure arcs of electricity, looked at the destroyer who had annihilated everything.
He slightly rotated his ankle.
Bang-!
The air beneath his feet exploded, and he shot into the air like an arrow released from a bow.
The Destroyer's visor reopened immediately, unleashing a massive beam of destructive energy, even thicker and tinged with a purplish-black flare, which scorched and distorted the air in its path.
Thor neither dodged nor evaded the attack.
He even gave a disdainful sneer.
"For Asgard!"
He swung the warhammer forward.
The terrifying energy beam struck the spinning hammer, but it was violently scattered into countless harmless sparks, much like waves hitting a reef.
"For my friend whose name I haven't even had a chance to ask yet!"
Thor's figure pierced straight through the Destroyer's defenses, which were still charging up for the second time.
boom!
That was the collision of metal and divine iron.
The Destroyer's massive body was forcefully slammed into the air by this hammer blow, and the Uru metal shell that would make Shuen drool was actually dented in a large chunk by Thor's monstrous strength.
The storm became the best cage.
Thor caught the spinning warhammer in mid-air, each rotation creating a tornado-like vortex.
This powerful force of nature trapped the struggling destroyer firmly in the center, leaving it to be torn apart and thrown away.
"Get down!"
Thor roared as he plummeted from the eye of the tornado.
The warhammer was enveloped in divine light powerful enough to shatter dimensions.
He stomped on the Destroyer's chest, which was trying to gather energy, and stomped the massive body into the rock.
The earth trembled, and the surrounding glass shattered all at once.
Immediately following was the final blow aimed at the Destroyer's head.
Crack—Boom!
The ground of the entire S.H.I.E.L.D. temporary base undulated for a moment like ocean waves.
As the last blinding flash of lightning faded, the once invincible destroyer lay quietly in a deep crater.
The rain stopped.
The clouds were parted.
Thor stood beside the pile of scrap metal, his warhammer still crackling.
"Although I don't know what kind of god you are."
Thor picked up a small piece of cookie wrapper that had fallen out of his pocket, looking somewhat dejected.
"But in Asgard, this way of dying in battle is worthy of the long table in Valhalla."
Even with all his divine power, he could not bring back a life lost.
This is why mortals need the protection of gods, and also why gods feel pain.
Crackling sound.
Deep within the pile of Destroyer scrap metal, whose original shape was no longer discernible, a mocking voice rang out.
"Wonderful. What a wonderful performance, brother."
The agents nervously raised their guns again, but Thor merely turned his head slightly to the side.
Even after losing your divine power, even after falling into the company of ants, you can still surprise me.
Loki's voice resonated through the magical vibrations of the metal fragments, carrying an air of haughty arrogance and barely concealed annoyance.
"But do you think this is the end? Father is dying, Asgard now belongs to me!"
Thor did not speak.
He couldn't be bothered to give that incessantly chattering voice any emotional response.
The mortals who wept in the torrential rain and struggled in the mud had already perished with that bolt of lightning.
Standing here now is the true eldest son of Odin.
He walked slowly toward the core metal that was still vibrating.
A red cloak hung down on the steaming mud.
"Did you hear me, Thor?! I know you're listening! You're not coming back!"
Click.
Thor calmly applied pressure by placing one foot on the sound-producing metal.
"Have you finished speaking?"
Thor looked down at the metal beneath his feet, which was gradually deforming.
The breathing on the other end of the communication clearly paused for a moment.
Loki.
Thor raised his warhammer.
"I used to think my father had exiled me. I used to think I wasn't qualified to lift it. But now I understand."
"It's not that I'm not qualified, but that Asgard cannot be entrusted to a coward like you."
The metal beneath his feet shattered completely, and Loki's unwilling roar was forcibly cut off outside of that dimension.
The world is finally quiet.
"Excuse me, may I interrupt your family drama segment?"
A creaking sound of wheels grinding came from the gap in the agents' encirclement.
Jane and Coulson, who were still moved by Thor's regal aura, subconsciously turned around.
The god who had just heroically sacrificed himself before their eyes, transforming into a sky full of golden light, was now hopping and skipping along, leisurely pushing a wheelbarrow that had clearly been smuggled from a construction site, as he crossed the warning tape. As Xiu En walked, he fanned away the dust in front of him with his hand in disgust, with a mini sunflower sitting on his shoulder, holding a notebook and recording data.
"You delivered the lines about severing ties really well; they were very powerful."
Shuen pushed the cart up to the dumbfounded Thor, took a delicious-looking beef burger out of his pocket, and handed it to him.
"Since you've smashed all this scrap metal on the ground and don't want it anymore, I'll just pack it all up. No objections, right?"
"you……?"
Thor looked at the hamburger that had been shoved into his hand, then at the still incredibly annoying light-man in front of him, and all the sadness he had just been building up vanished.
"You're not dead?!"
"Dead, but not completely dead."
Xiu bent down, picked up a piece of Destroyer armor, tapped it as if he were picking a watermelon, nodded in satisfaction, and then threw it into the cart.
"There are so many edible things on this earth, I can't bear to die like this."
He straightened up and gave Thor, who was still in a daze, a very bright smile.
"What? Disappointed that I don't need a funeral? Use the money saved to treat me to a nice meal in New York! And, my name is Xiu En!"
"Thor!"
A shout.
Four figures dressed in clothing of vastly different styles, clearly not belonging to Earth's civilization, stumbled through the smoke and the agents' encirclement.
Ms. Sif, who was in the lead, looked at Thor, who was holding a hamburger but exuding the aura of Thor, and breathed a sigh of relief.
The bearded man with a huge belly, Vostagg, who was following behind her, was immediately drawn to the hamburger in Thor's hand and the unicycle next to it that was being loaded with smoking metal.
"Ha! I knew this tin can couldn't hurt you!"
Vostagg laughed and patted his belly.
"I never imagined it would shatter like this. Uh, what's this glowing friend doing?"
"He's recycling."
Thor swallowed the beef burger with some embarrassment. Although it was cold, the taste made him decide to ask the royal kitchen to improve the recipe when he got back.
"These are Fandral, Hogan, Vostagg, and Sif. They are also my accomplices."
"Heimdall has regained control of the Rainbow Bridge, and Loki's vision is temporarily blocked."
As a gentleman, Fandral, despite feeling uneasy about Hugh's gaze fixed on the rapier at his waist, elegantly adjusted his cloak.
"We have to leave quickly, before he finds a way to break the seal."
In the sky, the clouds began to display a rainbow of swirling colors.
"Looks like the taxi has arrived."
Xiu En gripped the cart even tighter, clearly afraid that the beam of light falling from the sky would knock his spoils away.
Thor took a deep breath.
He looked at Jane, his eyes filled with unspoken words and promises.
Then he turned around and faced Xiu En, who was covering the wheelbarrow with a tarpaulin.
"Xiu En".
Thor called out the name in a very formal manner.
"Although this seems a bit rushed, I still wanted to say it!"
"stop."
Shuon raised a hand, interrupting Thor's lyrical moment.
"If you're going to give a long thank-you speech, you might as well give me that thing."
Shuen pointed to the large bag of Asgardian roasted pork leg hanging from Vostag's waist, which he had originally intended to steal for himself.
"That hamburger was very expensive; this is an exchange."
Vostagg burst into laughter.
"Excellent! Excellent! This Midgardian actually knows how to barter! This is true warrior etiquette!"
The bearded man generously untied the enormous meat bag—enough to feed an ordinary person for three days—and tossed it directly into Xiu En's cart.
"Although I don't know what 'expensive' means, this meat was just grilled!"
"I should go back now."
Xiu En glanced at the seven-colored beam of light that gradually became dazzling and then blinding, and the Golden Crow bloodline in his body seemed to develop an instinctive sense of vigilance towards this high-dimensional channel.
"But before that..."
With a slight twitch of his fingers, a wisp of extremely pure golden light condensed at his fingertips and then bounced into Thor's chest armor like a pinball.
"A little interest. Next time you're exiled here by any of your family members, or if you're beaten down to mortal status again, it'll help you get beaten a little less. Also, keep an eye on this beautiful armor for me, don't get it scratched."
Thor looked down at the point of light that had been integrated into the fish scale armor, which looked like a golden medal, and felt the warm and vast power within it.
He smiled.
That is a tacit understanding between gods that needs no words.
"Next time we meet, I'll bring the finest wine."
Thor gave Jane, who had tears in her eyes, one last hug and then lifted Mjolnir.
We'll settle the score later.
boom--!
The Bifrost Rainbow Bridge crashed down, swallowing the figures of the five Asgardians.
Geometric patterns belonging to Norse mythology were left on the ground.
Only after the pillar of light disappeared did Xiu En reach out and, as if picking fruit, grab a ball of still-glowing, colorful energy from the dissipated air ripples.

"The toll for the Rainbow Bridge, in this dimension, probably tastes like Ramune soda?"
He took a satisfied bite of the energy ball, pushed the rickety cart, and before the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents could even react to how he appeared, he stepped directly into the spatial portal that had opened behind him at some unknown time.
"Well then, thank you for your hard work, civil servants! Bye-bye."
