Chapter 179 The Bat Decides to Go to Another World with the Sun
Xiu En picked up the fiber optic cable, intending to use it as a toothpick and snack after the meal, when Ivy, the sunflower that had been pretending to be dead on his shoulder, suddenly came to life.
Its originally wilted leaves perked up, and the flower head was brought right up to Xiu En's nose. The two large leaves patted Xiu En's forehead without any politeness.
"Shuen, something's not right with you right now."
Ivy looked at Xiu En with concern.
"Hanging people up into the sky? Forcibly reshuffling the Penguin deck? Although the result is good, your methods are getting more and more amazing."
"Shuen! You are looking down on them. It's like pruning a potted plant that might get infested with bugs, not treating people. This may be a side effect of your divinity, with humanity being suppressed by divinity. This cold, condescending attitude is a harbinger."
Xiu En raised an eyebrow, trying to brush the ever-growing flower away from his sight, but its roots seemed to be wrapped directly around his trench coat collar, remaining completely still.
"Don't give me that, you're my personal doctor."
Xiu En nonchalantly bit off a section of fiber optic cable, making a crunching sound.
"Look at me, I'm enjoying my meal right now, aren't I? Having an appetite is the greatest human trait."
He even proudly twirled the "Zhaoming Pendant" around his neck.
"Besides, I have my own methods. The Great Sun Projection Technique isn't just for ordering takeout remotely. I project my clones into another world."
"Even just strolling around, eating hot dogs, or fighting with that big oaf over there, that experience of being in the world will anchor me in the realm of humanity like a ship's anchor. Do you understand, Xiaohua? That's cultivation."
The sunflower tilted its head, its flower head displaying a disdainful expression that seemed to see through all the excuses.
"Oh? Projection?"
The leaf is bent into the shape of a question mark.
"So, where is your projection now? Every time you used a projection before, you took my clone with you on your adventures! Whether it was meeting the bald woman, a wedding, S.H.I.E.L.D., or Thor's hammer, I was always there!"
Sunflower Ivy moved closer like a detective, almost touching Xiu En's face.
"Why can't I feel any feedback from today's projection? Apart from the sunflower that only knew how to eat and sent a deathbed message that sounded like 'It's so hot and painful,' where is your anchor point?"
"Well……"
Xiu En's chewing motion on the fiber optic cable stopped.
A memory, not too long ago but deliberately forgotten because he was enjoying the meal so much, suddenly attacked his brain.
Scene: A torrential downpour in New Mexico, the Destroyer's visor opening, the destructive beam powerful enough to destroy a small town, and himself spreading his arms to take the hit to protect Thor, all to show off (scratch that), finally exploding into a dazzling firework amidst a sky full of golden light.
That was a heroic sacrifice. That was selfless dedication.
But to be precise, it exploded, it's gone, the limited edition clone was completely annihilated.
Along with the clone that served as the anchor point, it's probably gone too.
Therefore, he hasn't set up a projector yet.
Xiu En awkwardly shifted his gaze from the sunflower to an innocent spider on the ceiling.
That originally confident aura visibly deflated.
He even felt that the golden heat that had been surging within him, which made him want to look down on all living beings from a high place, began to stir restlessly again.
"Um, you know that too."
Xiu En coughed dryly, his voice filled with guilt.
"Some spiritual practices require a price. Like occasionally experiencing the realization of death? That's a kind of sublimation for humanity, isn't it?"
The sunflower didn't answer; it just watched him quietly.
Meanwhile, Bruce, who had been quietly drinking coffee but also eavesdropping, watched Shum's fascinating expressions and the sudden freeze in the atmosphere.
A sinister smile crept across his lips as he silently reached for the button on his belt specifically designed to counter divine rampage.
Xiu En: "..."
Bruce's finger hovered over the button for a moment before gently moving it away.
He looked at the person opposite him, who was glaring at Xiaohua with a face that said, "I was wrong, but I just can't admit it," and sighed deeply.
The sigh was extremely deep, carrying a sense of relief as if one had given up on the greatest principle of their life.
"Xiu En".
Bruce stood up, walked to Shuen, bowed slightly, and spoke with the apology of an ordinary person.
"You were the one who kept talking about your adventures over there, the scenery, and that piece of barbecue. And all I did was 'hmm'."
"My arrogance led me to dismiss your sharing."
Bruce reached out and patted Hugh's shoulder, which was radiating a warm glow.
"As compensation, I'm not listening to your stories anymore."
Shuen looked up, about to explode, when he heard Bruce slowly add the second half of the sentence:
"This time, you take me there yourself. If you can conjure up another lunch over there."
Xiu En paused for a second.
Immediately afterwards, ecstasy washed away all the guilt and depression on his face.
Immediately afterwards, ecstasy washed away all the guilt and depression on his face.
The previously somewhat scattered golden light now seemed to be injected with adrenaline and condensed wildly.
"Ha! I knew it! I knew you bat had been eyeing that alien technology for a long time!"
Xiu En launched himself off the chair.
"Since you've asked so sincerely, I'll be merciful and take you flying!"
Without giving Bruce any time to think about the meaning of the word "fly," Hugh grabbed Bruce's wrist.
A golden light instantly wrapped around it, tying a knot that looked exactly like a pig's trotter.
"Target locked! Dimensional beacon, hmm, I don't know what it smells like! Great Sun Projection, activate!"
"Wait! Shouldn't you be calling Zatana to open the door? Your ability allows you to create a clone of me?! Doesn't this kind of mental crossover require oxygen? What's the gravity coefficient? Should I get my whole body demagnetized first?"
Although Bruce was already prepared, his professional instincts still compelled him to try and buy himself some last-minute preparation time in the face of Hugh's exceptional mobility.
With his other hand, he frantically pressed on his belt, trying to put the miniature recorder, emergency beacon, and even his trump card on his person.
"Who cares about that! Let's go!"
Xiu En grinned, his smile so radiant it made the basement seem as if a supernova had risen from it.
boom!
A burst of golden light erupted, releasing a burst of light energy.
After a period of weightlessness, as if I had been thrown into a washing machine and spun around eight hundred times while having to endure the bald man shouting "Wuhu~" in my ear.
The noise of traffic.
The smell of a hot dog stand in New York.
And a faint, almost imperceptible magical fluctuation washed over us.
Bruce opened his eyes; it was a warrior's instinct.
He found himself floating half a foot off the ground, his body in a semi-transparent, ethereal state, but the all-powerful belt around his waist, a manifestation of his subconscious, was still there.
He was even wearing bat armor?
Beside him, Xiu En's golden projection stood with his hands on his hips in front of an old red-brick house adorned with strange symbols, pointing smugly at the mage who was sweeping the floor and had dropped his broom in fright at the sight.
"See! I told you this place was real! Hey, Wang! You're sweeping the streets to earn extra money too?!"
That is the Supreme Sanctuary located at 177A Brick Street, New York.
The fat mage called "King" was staring at them with a look that said, "I've seen a ghost... no, I've seen two ghosts."
Wang was curious how Xiu En knew his name, but he still had to greet him first.
"Um, good afternoon?"
Wang Yiran was still holding the broom with both hands, sweeping fallen leaves in a Zen-like manner, when he was startled by two translucent creatures that jumped out of the golden light and almost used the Vatum Wind opening move.
His gaze darted back and forth between Xiu En, who radiated golden light as if he had a level 10 beauty filter applied, and the bat-eared armored man who, even in his spirit form, was still dressed in black and exuded an aura of "I'm rich and I'm dangerous."
"Don't be nervous, Master Wang!"
Xiu'en's projection floated in front of the king, trying to pat him on the shoulder like two buddies, but unsurprisingly it clipped through him, only causing a crackling of static sparks.
"Let me introduce myself, I'm Xiu En. As you know, cross-dimensional travel is a bit of a frame rate drop."
Shuen pointed to Bruce behind him, who was frantically scanning the building's structure and even mentally calculating how many ounces of C4 would be needed to blast open the ornate door.
"You can call this dark-skinned guy next to me with a bitter and resentful look his richest ghost in Gotham, or Bruce Wallet Wayne."
Wayne.
Bruce coughed somewhat awkwardly; although the sound was transmitted through mental energy, it still sounded serious.
He quickly adjusted his somewhat embarrassing entrance, trying to make himself appear as if he were a respectable visitor to the magic world, rather than a lackey following some madman to cause a ruckus.
"Sorry to bother you, we mean no harm. It's just that the energy readings of this building are very peculiar. Is it built on a node in three-dimensional space?"
Bruce frantically refreshed the data through his tactical goggles. He keenly sensed the extraordinary nature of the Sanctuary, and his instinctive desire to explore the unknown and danger made him temporarily ignore Shuen's nonsense.
Wang blinked, his already small eyes widening in surprise. .
"I don't recall ever seeing a light bulb-like creature in the Dimensional Blacklist or the Mysterious Creatures Encyclopedia."
He subconsciously tightened his grip on the broom handle. Although he didn't sense any murderous intent, this didn't follow procedure.
Even if a visitor from another world isn't a monster with tentacles, they should at least have some kind of magic circle or something, instead of just smashing a hole in space with their head.
Just as Wang was about to call the Kamar-Taj Security Forces without thinking twice,
A faint, elegant scent, a mixture of sandalwood and some indescribable bitterness, wafted out, smoothing out Wang's initial stance and causing Bruce's chaotic detection readings to all return to zero.
"If you're trying to observe the mysteries of the multiverse, standing outside the door isn't a good habit, Mr. Bruce Wayne."
A slender figure, seemingly holding up the entire sky, stood in the shadows of the foyer.
Gu Yi lowered his head and fiddled with the folding fan in his hand, a smile playing on his lips that seemed to have seen through Xiu En's cheap special effects trick long ago.
"And you, gluttonous Lord Zhaoming. I specially added a touch of calming to today's tea."
Hugh and Bruce went over for tea.
The air in the tea room was filled with an aroma that was hard to describe—it was either sandalwood or the smell of burning magic.
Gu Yi's tea-pouring technique was fluid and graceful, without any unnecessary movements.
Xiu En made a swallowing motion that seemed to be enjoying. In that instant, the golden light that was originally radiating around him seemed to have been nourished and solidified, and he even let out a comfortable sigh.
Bruce, standing to the side, was still in a spirit state, unable to interfere with matter, clearly forgotten by Shuen. His eyes, glowing with eerie blue data, were not idle. His gaze lingered on Shuen's satisfied face for a second, then silently added a new entry to the encrypted document in his mind titled "Shuen's Observation Log and Countermeasures Guide to Breeding":
This individual exhibits an extremely high craving for liquids with high-dimensional energy fluctuations.
Even in a state of inanimate matter, it seems to be able to eat and receive positive feedback in some way.
Note: Perhaps we can find a similar magical substitute in Gotham next time.
"If you're discussing how to destroy or save the world, you'd better hurry. My migraine is about to flare up again."
An impatient voice rang out.
The wooden door to the tea room, which had been tightly closed, was pushed open by a hand that was even trembling slightly.
Stephen Strange, the future Sorcerer Supreme, walked in wearing a gray apprentice robe that was a little too big for him, looking utterly dejected.
But more striking than his haggard face is his current hairstyle.
Right in the center of his head, a pea shooter was rooted in a tuft of black curly hair. The pea shooter was standing upright with its two leaves stretching as if it were yawning.
"puff!"
Xiu En and Sunflower Ivy couldn't help but laugh.
Shuen's eyes widened as he pointed at the thing on Strange's head that was completely out of place in terms of both style and species. He laughed so hard that the projection started to drop frames, and golden particles popped out like fireworks.
"While I know that apprentices should be close to nature, this... Strange, are you planning to become a plant-based mage? Or are you cosplaying the front lines of World War Z?"
Shuen didn't even need to sense it to discover that the plant's roots were firmly planted, as if it were using Strange's head as the most fertile potting soil in the world.
The Peashooter who was enjoying the nourishment from Strange's scalp seemed to sense a familiar golden energy.
It turned its head, that whole spherical flower bud, towards Xiu En's direction, and its two leaves fluttered excitedly up and down, the movement just like a puppy that had seen its owner.
"Pop".
A tiny, thumb-sized energy pea, radiating a soft golden light, was spat out of its round mouth with 100% favorability. Before Strange could even utter a word of protest, it struck him on the forehead with a crisp sound similar to the tapping of a wooden fish.
Shuen tried to stop laughing, looking at Strange who was clutching his forehead in despair, though there was no sympathy in his eyes, and he even reached out to tease the pea.
"Looks like this little guy really likes you. I mean, it didn't even throw up on me."
Amidst the chaotic laughter and cheers, Bruce calmly adjusted his position, avoiding the pea's trajectory, and added a sentence in his mind palace:
This is a Beta sample of an alien plant, possessing self-awareness, the ability to distinguish friend from foe, and physical attack capabilities. Host: Strange. The two are currently in a state of parasitism and symbiosis. Recommendation: Stay away from Ivy.
