Chapter 227 It's Time for the Baby Penguin to Leave

Rorschach stepped out.

The cold wind swept over his entire body, and his trench coat froze like a piece of iron in almost a second.

Damn, does this portal teleport you directly to Antarctica?

Just before his consciousness was about to be frozen by the cold, a golden light spread out from his side and completely enveloped him.

The chill was dispelled, and warmth enveloped him again. His frozen trench coat became soft again, and even emitted steam from the dried fabric.

Xiu En yawned.

He casually gathered some of the spreading golden light, creating a warm aura that could just envelop the three of them.

"Tsk, another place with lots of ice."

Xiu En frowned.

"And there's no smell in the air at all, how boring."

"No taste?"

The sunflower poked its head out, only to be immediately blown back in by the wind.

"This pure air is simply heaven! This is truly an environment suitable for plant growth! It's definitely better than Jotunheim!"

The sunflower stretched out its vines and touched the world outside the golden light.

"Oh no, it's freezing cold! Looks like it's not suitable for plants. Xiu En, turn up that aperture a bit, I need to photosynthesize!"

Loki patted the snowflakes, and the polar blizzard around him seemed to turn into a gentle spring breeze.

He gazed at the endless expanse of white, shrouded in blizzard.

"Welcome to Antarctica, a place forgotten by the gods, where only ice and silence remain."

He acted like an experienced tour guide, introducing the place to the two tourists.

"However, it is precisely for this reason that this place became the perfect hiding place for that canary who compared herself to Prometheus."

His gaze was fixed on the distant horizon.

There, on a vast ice shelf, the outline of a spherical building shrouded in a pale blue energy shield can be vaguely seen.

A beam of energy shot straight up from the top of the building, tearing through the clouds and snow, like a solitary lighthouse in the night, proudly proclaiming its existence.

"Look, Adrian Witte's Big Ben. An ivory tower built in this forbidden zone of life with his wisdom far ahead of his time and his almost limitless wealth."

"He thought he could play God here, observing and manipulating the game of human destiny, but he didn't know that the real players didn't even bother to make a move on his board."

Rorschach listened silently to Loki's explanation, his gaze fixed on the building emitting a blue light in the distance.

Is this the end of everything?

The truth behind the comedian's murder, the fate of his eliminated companions—all the answers lie within that lonely fortress.

The clues he painstakingly uncovered throughout his life, relying on his iron will and beast-like intuition, were nothing more than a boring drama in the eyes of the other party.

What he considered the final battlefield, the desperate situation, was, in the eyes of the other side, merely a tourist attraction where the scenery could be judged at will.

This feeling of powerlessness brought him peace.

Because he knew he had found the right tools.

He raised a hand and pointed in the direction of the building.

"That's it!"

He showed the two uninvited gods the path of mortal revenge.

Rorschach was prepared to embark on this path of no return, whether facing death or the unknown that was even more terrifying than death.

However, the radiant deity glanced twice in the direction of his finger, then turned his gaze to the side of the ice field not far away.

There, a dense mass of tiny black and white dots moved slowly through the blizzard, like a moving carpet.

They huddled together, making a soft, dense chirping sound, and looked like a bunch of fluffy bowling pins.

Xiu En's eyes lit up.

"What kind of penguin is that? It's huge!"

He asked with great interest.

"Emperor Penguin, sir."

Loki patiently played his role as a tour guide, explaining with a smile.

"Emperor penguin chicks. It looks like we've caught them just in time for their nest-breaking activity. A newborn party at the ends of the earth."

"Furry."

Xiu En gave his evaluation.

Then he turned around and walked towards the group of penguins.

The warm protective shield around the three of them also shifted, engulfing Rorschach, who was still pointing the way, and pulling him off the path leading to revenge and the truth.

Luo Xia silently lowered his hand and followed behind.

He felt he should perhaps start creating a new category specifically for these two monsters in his diary.

Incomprehensible level.

One step, two steps.

When Hugh approached the penguin colony to within twenty meters, the group of emperor penguin chicks, who had been huddled together shivering, began to stir.

Their tiny, innocent black bean eyes all turned to look at the warm, moving sun.

The boldest, or perhaps the most cold-sensitive, penguin chick hesitantly stepped out with its webbed feet, waddling away from the main group and moving towards Xiuen.

As it crashed into the warm glowing shield, it let out a very pleasant chirp.

This signal alerted the other penguin chicks.

In an instant, hundreds and thousands of fluffy, chubby emperor penguin chicks rushed toward Xiu En.

They crowded around his feet, rubbing their round bodies against his trouser legs, some even trying to peck at the hem of his trench coat with their still-developing beaks, making satisfied and dependent chirping sounds.

"Hey! Stop rubbing against me! You walking blocks of fat! Your fur is getting all over me!"

The sunflower on Xiu's shoulder, while grumbling in disdain, secretly stretched out a tiny leaf and gently patted the head of the nearest penguin chick.

The fuzzy texture made it unconsciously rub its leaves several times.

Rorschach stood aside, staring blankly at Shuen, who was being engulfed by a bunch of fur balls.

Lock onto Soul Valley, lock onto, lock onto every update of "American Comics: Praise the Sun Starting from Gotham!"

I subconsciously touched the head of the baby penguin next to me.

Just then, a voice filled with anger and hostility shattered the harmonious atmosphere.

A black and white penguin, much smaller than the emperor penguin chicks but with unusually fierce eyes, charged over from the other side of the penguin colony.

It looks like a grumpy, old-fashioned bodyguard.

The Adélie penguin charged straight into the group of Emperor penguin chicks, its wings outstretched, as if driving away disobedient students. It made angry calls and roughly pushed the Emperor penguin chicks surrounding Hugh outwards.

Its goal was clear: it directly blocked the path between Hugh and the group of emperor penguin chicks who were unwilling to leave.

With its head held high, it shrieked menacingly at the luminous intruder, Shuen, in a posture of overestimating its own strength and heroic sacrifice.

"So energetic."

Xiu En commented with great interest.

"They are the owners of this land, or rather, the tenants of the previous lease term."

Loki smiled and explained.

"This is a breeding ground used by Emperor penguins and Adelie penguins in rotation. It's currently the Adelie penguin breeding season. Unfortunately, these lazy Emperor penguin tenants haven't left yet, and this dutiful Adelie landlord is trying to clear the area."

The Adélie penguin spread its wings and charged towards Hugh's calf, as if preparing for a desperate charge.

The valiant Adélie penguin had its eyes closed and its beak open.

In its little mind, as long as it drives away this glowing intruder, it can reclaim its home and usher in a wonderful breeding season.

"A mischievous little thing."

Shuen withdrew his gaze from the penguins, that feeling.

Although there was a sense of incompleteness, that was all.

He tilted his head at Loki, his words brief and to the point.

"Let's go, let's go into that ball."

"Huh? Shouldn't we wait for it to crash into us?"

On its shoulder, the sunflower seemed to be eagerly anticipating the upcoming dramatic showdown between two seemingly insurmountable odds.

"I wanted to see just how tough its beak was! And it's just leaving like that? What a disappointment!"

Its leaves drooped down unhappily.

"As you wish."

Loki smiled and raised his hand again.

Just as the Adélie penguin was less than half a meter from its target, the entire world in front of it vanished.

The glowing light shield was gone.

All that remained was the cold wind and the endless snow.

The brave Adélie penguin, propelled by inertia, plunged headfirst into the soft snow.

It got up, confused, shook off the snow, tilted its head, and looked at the empty ice surface in front of it.

Its tiny mind couldn't comprehend what had just happened.

The emperor penguin chicks, suddenly deprived of their enormous heater, stirred up a chorus of mournful, cold chirps of protest.

When his vision cleared again, Rorschach found himself standing in front of an energy wall that looked like blue crystal.

He looked up, so shocked he almost forgot how to breathe.

An unimaginably magnificent building stood before them.

It was a perfect sphere, its surface made of some unknown material that constantly flowed with data and energy.

The pale blue energy shield, like a thin veil, isolated the entire fortress from the blizzard outside.

The polar sky was dyed with its light into an eternal dawn.

Standing at the foot of this building, humanity is like an ant gazing at the stars, insignificant and unworthy of mention.

"A miracle built on the pinnacle of human wisdom and arrogance."

Loki's voice rang out beside him.

"Ozymandias poured everything he had learned, seen, and created into this place. He thought it was impregnable."

Rorschach had considered countless ways to infiltrate the fortress.

They might crawl into ventilation ducts, use electromagnetic pulses to create temporary system malfunctions, or even dig tunnels under ice.

Each one is a near-death experience.

But now, looking at the two gods beside him who seemed to be on a picnic, he chuckled.

Meanwhile, inside the building, in the circular main control room that overlooks the entire Antarctic ice sheet.

A handsome man with short blond hair, dressed in white loungewear, is standing in front of a huge arched floor-to-ceiling window, holding a freshly brewed cup of black tea.

Outside the window, a raging blizzard was raging.

Inside the window is a warm, spring-like environment and a genetically modified tropical botanical garden.

A lithe lynx was lazily lying at his feet, enjoying the comfort of the underfloor heating.

The man, Adrian Witt, is preparing to enjoy his afternoon tea and philosophical contemplation for the day.

But the main control computer sounded an alarm.

"Alert: An unknown high-dimensional energy reaction has been detected approaching the outer edge of the energy shield. Threat level... cannot be assessed."

Adrian frowned.

He walked to the control panel and brought up the external monitoring screen.

In the holographic image, three strangely shaped figures are standing outside the energy shield.

An Eastern youth wearing a black trench coat, carrying what looks like a tree branch in his hand, with a moving sunflower perched on his shoulder.

A man dressed in a green robe as if he were going to a Shakespeare festival, and wearing a golden horned helmet.

The last one, uh, Rorschach?

Adrian watched the video and fell silent.

His super brain performed hundreds of millions of data comparisons and analyses in an instant, but only one conclusion was reached.

unknown.

This doesn't fit into any of his plans.

He silently took a sip of black tea, then pressed a call button and spoke to his only companion, the lynx that was dozing off.

"Bubastis, it seems we have guests. And they don't seem to be planning on ringing the doorbell."
