Chapter 238 Superman and a Messy Piece of Chicken Feather
On the solar island, the resistance fighters who had narrowly escaped death recovered.
Shuen appeared on the island.
The way everyone looked at the golden figure floating in the center of the island was the kind of look that mortals have when they look up at a god.
It was a mixture of awe, gratitude, and the idea of entrusting one's entire destiny to it.
Martian hunter Ron slowly landed on the ground and bowed deeply to Shum.
Unlike ordinary people, he clearly sensed what Xiu En had done to that living prison at the bottom of the sea.
"You are the savior."
Behind him, Dinah Lance knelt down on one knee.
Immediately afterwards, one after another, the rebel soldiers, whether they were seasoned veterans or newly-adult recruits, all knelt down spontaneously.
This is the highest respect they can express for the being who descended from the heavens and rescued them from hell in a seemingly playful way.
Only Oliver Quinn was still standing.
He looked at the scene before him, which resembled a religious ceremony, and then at Xiu En, who seemed to completely disregard the kneeling ceremony. A bitter feeling welled up in his mouth.
Finally, he sighed wearily and lowered his head slightly towards Xiu En.
Shuen looked at Oliver.
What kind of superheroes exist in this world?
"This world? Oh, I see, Mr. Savior."
"Superman has taken control of the Earth; he is not fighting alone."
"One of his strong foundations comes from Paradise Island in the Amazon. Princess Diana there was once our comrade-in-arms, but now she is Superman's most loyal supporter."
Rong En stepped forward and added.
"Not only that, Diana also brought Superman the support of the Olympian pantheon. Those ancient gods seem to have approved of Superman's new order. Our most powerful warriors were utterly defeated by Shazam, a champion whose body was engulfed in magical lightning, when they tried to stop Zeus from sending down an oracle."
Mentioning that champion, many of the survivors present showed expressions of fear.
Clearly, it was a crushing defeat that left an indelible mark on them.
They watched Hugh's reaction with bated breath, hoping to see anger on the face of their savior.
As long as he makes a move, they still have hope.
However, Xiu En didn't hear a word he said.
What Paradise Island? What Olympian gods? What magical lightning?
From the very beginning, his attention was drawn to a few children who were being protected by adults and were timidly peeking out.
Most of them were pale and thin, and the youngest seemed to be still learning to walk.
Their eyes didn't hold the adult mentality of exploiting Xiu En; they only showed the most basic hunger and fear.
As Oliver and Ron were solemnly recounting the war that determined the fate of the world, Shuen walked straight past the rebel leaders and knelt down.
He squatted down in front of a little girl with two pigtails.
Then, he reached into the pocket of his black trench coat and began to rummage around.
A moment later, he pulled out a cookie with a bear pattern on it.
That was made by Afu, it's honey butter flavored.
Xiu En handed the biscuit to the little girl.
The girl shrank back in fright, but the aroma made her stomach rumble involuntarily.
Xiuen held the biscuit patiently, without moving.
To make his gaze less oppressive, he even slightly turned his head to look at another pair of twin brothers next to him who were hugging their mother's legs and curiously craning their necks.
The little girl hesitated for a long time before finally grabbing the biscuit quickly and then, like a frightened little animal, immediately shrank back into her mother's arms.
All that remained was Xiu En holding up an empty hand.
He withdrew his hand without a care.
He then pulled out a second piece, a third piece...
On the solar energy island.
On one side, exhausted but determined resistance fighters, led by Green Arrow and Martian Manhunter, discussed their next course of action in hushed tones, planning a reconnaissance mission to Paradise Island or attempting to contact other survivors.
Their world is one of war, strategy, sacrifice, and hope.
Meanwhile, just a few meters away from them, stood that great being who could create islands out of thin air and purify living prisons.
He was surrounded by a dozen children, who were relatives of the rebels.
He sat cross-legged on the ground.
His pockets seemed like a bottomless pit, and he pulled out one fragrant cookie after another, handing them to the children who hadn't tasted sweets in who knows how long.
The children were initially a little scared, but soon the warm kindness and the primal allure of the food made them lower their guard.
They gathered around Xiu En, taking small bites of the biscuits and making a series of satisfied chewing sounds.
Xiu En even took out a small bottle of milk that he had casually put in his pocket at some point, patiently poured it into the bottle cap, and fed it to the smallest little one.
His profile looked very soft in the sunlight.
"Tsk tsk."
Ivy was complaining on his shoulder.
"Why don't you just give up being the sun god and open a cross-dimensional daycare center instead? I think it has a lot of potential."
Xiu En replied.
"Shut up, how dare you, a little flower from an orphanage, talk to me like that? But maybe one day..."
But he couldn't help thinking about it.
Damn it, why are there always children in the resistance?
We're almost out of cookies.
When we get back, we need to have Afu bake a few more batches.
Oliver, Ron, and Diana, who had just been helped up, had stopped their discussion and were all silently watching the figure surrounded by children.
"Rong En..."
"Can you read his mind?"
The Martian hunter remained silent for a long time before finally shaking his head slowly.
"I can't. I dare not."
Rong En's voice was filled with helplessness.
"My telepathic connection with him was like trying to understand the entire ocean with a drop of water. I could only sense that he was calm, even somewhat happy."
"joy?"
Oliver almost jumped up.
"We're telling him that our world has been taken over by a bunch of fallen gods, and he's squatting there feeding children cookies, and you're telling me he's happy?!"
"Yes."
Rong En closed his eyes.
"Perhaps to us, this is war. But to him, it's just because he wants to do it."
Shuen finally left amidst the children's satisfied burps.
He stood up, his gaze passing over the group of survivors before him and landing on the endless distance.
"Alright, afternoon tea time is over."
He announced it in a calm tone.
He closed his eyes and established a direct connection with the planet's most fundamental and primal energy source—the lonely, burning sun.
In an instant, the real-time dynamics of the entire planet flooded into his mind.
He saw the lonely gods patrolling the skies above the metropolis, the surviving resistance struggling in the ruins of Star City, and the lifeless order established by soldiers in white armor around the world.
"Let me see where Shazam is... God... Magic Lightning..."
He was muttering to himself, as if he were flipping through a huge menu.
His consciousness sped along the planet's magnetic field lines, eventually stopping at an energy anomaly point on the North American continental plate.
There, an energy intertwined with holiness and lies soared into the sky. At its core was a young soul, a mixture of six different divine powers, possessing immense power but lacking its own will.
In Xiu En's perception, the energy fluctuations were like a cream cake filled with too much artificial flavoring and sweeteners, which would become cloying if eaten too much.
"Found it."
He opened his eyes.
"Washington, D.C., Capitol Hill. The champion you're talking about is giving a speech there."
"Ugh, it tastes like expired cream, with a sour and rotten smell."
Ivy dismissively shook a petal on his shoulder.
"It's dirtying your hands to deal with this kind of trash."
"There's no other way; you always have to have a not-so-great appetizer before the main course."
Shuen shrugged, then turned to the bewildered rebel.
"Alright, you bunch of idiots, stop standing there."
He waved his hand, as if shooing away a flock of troublesome pigeons.
"I'll take you to a safe place, where you'll be well-fed, well-drinked, and provided with lodging. A wealthy man named Bruce will be in charge of your follow-up arrangements and training. If you have any requests, just let him know."
Before anyone could react, he snapped his fingers again.
A larger and more stable golden portal, than before, burst open in the center of the solar island.
Previously, the energy inside the giant beast's body was unstable, so Xiu En couldn't teleport there directly. Therefore, he temporarily built a small island.
That problem is no longer an issue.
On the other side of the door was a gloomy cave filled with mechanical creations, a huge dinosaur skeleton, and countless bat projections.
Green Arrow stared dumbfounded at the enormous Bat-like computer screen in the cave and the man in front of it, dressed in casual clothes but still exuding a menacing aura.
"No, wait?"
Before Oliver could finish speaking, a force swept them all up again, and they were uncontrollably sucked into the portal.
"Your world... has a Batman?!"
These were his last words in this universe.
Gotham, Wayne Manor, Batcave.
Bruce listened to Lucius's remote report on the initial results of the Purifier company's registration and personnel file establishment, while Adrian, like a top student, quietly watched the data stream on the Bat computer.
In the corner, Rorschach was scribbling something rapidly in his little diary.
Suddenly, alarms went off throughout the entire bat cave!
"Alert! Highest level spatial energy fluctuation detected! Right in the center of the base!"
Bruce suddenly stood up from his seat.
However, the alarm lasted for less than a second.
A huge golden portal unfolded in the center of the cave, and then hundreds of ragged, bewildered refugees, along with some children, fell out of the portal like dumplings being dropped into a pot, eliciting gasps of surprise.
Bruce stared at the group of visitors who had suddenly appeared, dressed in various styles, including a green alien floating in mid-air. He was particularly struck by the man in the lead, who was carrying a powerful bow and had a thick beard. His brain went blank for three seconds.
The portal did not close immediately, and Xiu En's voice came from inside.
"Boss, have Ah Fu prepare some food for them. You can discuss the salary yourselves. I'll go to Washington first and get the second batch of ingredients."
Just as the portal was about to close into a thin golden line, a blue and red figure rushed in!
"Shuen! Bruce said the situation here is terrible, so I've come to help!"
Clark's worried voice echoed in the corridor.
He had just finished a call with Cyborg and heard about the crisis in another universe and his own tyrannical self.
While Bruce's Kryptonite mechanical legion was still assembling, he discovered that Shuen had just opened a stable channel, and he rushed over without hesitation, ready to provide the most direct support.
An unjust universe.
On the solar island, the golden portal closed completely and vanished without a trace after the blue and red figures arrived.
The entire island began to slowly decompose, turning into specks of golden light that merged into the atmosphere.
Xiu En was completely unaware of and indifferent to all that was happening behind him.
He looked up toward Washington, his golden eyes reflecting the image of his next prey.
"Hmph, you brought along an even more troublesome guy."
Ivy complained about Superman's uninvited arrival.
"Even two suns combined aren't as bright as you, honestly."
"Let's go."
Shum spoke to Superman, and his figure began to blur.
"Go try the taste of Liushen Floral Water."
The next instant, he had vanished from the spot.
DC Main Universe, Batcave.
Bruce Wayne looked at the disheveled rebels from another world before him.
Adrian observed the Green Arrow who looked remarkably like himself with great interest; in his eyes, these people were all extremely valuable sources of intelligence.
Rorschach closed his diary, the ink on his mask slowly flowing, as if searching for sins within them to be judged.
Meanwhile, the rebels of the Unjust universe stared in horror at the Batcave filled with cutting-edge technology and at Bruce Wayne, who appeared to be completely untainted by the dark side.
At this crossroads of fate, the elites of the two worlds fell into a long and awkward silence.
