Chapter 351 Refugee Resettlement and Rehabilitation
Chapter 351 Refugee Resettlement and Rehabilitation
The golden halo dispelled the shadows of death and enslavement.
The common people, who had just escaped from despair, looked up at the golden deity in the sky.
Prolonged oppression had long since robbed them of the ability to express their emotions intensely. They simply stood there, watching the robot guards turn to ashes and the collars around their necks, symbols of their slavery, crumble into pieces.
Xiu En descended slowly from mid-air, his light softening and becoming warm. He knew that to rekindle hope in these people whose hearts had long since dried up, patience was required.
Although he himself is often impatient.
Xiu En flashed a smile as radiant as the sun.
He walked up to the group of trembling civilians, his gaze sweeping over them before finally settling on the oldest-looking man. He was an Asgardian, and although his clothes were ragged, a flicker of indomitable spirit still lingered in his eyes.
"Hello, sir."
"Who are you?"
The old man mustered his courage and asked. The people behind him nervously shrank back.
"A passing traveler."
"I saw you being bullied by those tin cans, so I just helped out. Don't be afraid."
"As it turned out, the canned food was not tasty at all, and it was even hard to chew."
Xiu En's clone whispered a message to the sunflower.
"Where is the ruler of this world, that guy named Kang?"
Xiu asked, as if he were a friendly social worker conducting a census.
"I have something I'd like to talk to him about."
Although he didn't want to talk about it at all, he just wanted to find Kang's location as soon as possible, stuff the corn bomb into his mouth, and then go home.
Upon hearing the name Kang, hatred flashed in the old man's eyes. He remained silent for a long time, seemingly only speaking after confirming that the god before him meant no harm: "Kang is everywhere. He is the sky of this world, the very breath we take. We are all his property, laborers captured from the various timelines he conquered. We build arsenals and forge fleets for him until we die of exhaustion, and then our bodies are recycled into biofuel to power the factories."
Another Creeman stepped forward and pointed to the towering tower that reached into the clouds at the very center of the city.
"That's the Time Fortress. Kang is there, watching over every corner of the world through his throne. But it's no use. We've organized countless rebellions, but no weapon can harm him."
This place is a slave factory that provides soldiers and resources to the Kangzhi Council, and they are expendable goods to be squeezed dry of their last bit of value.
"Please take us with you!"
I don't know who it was, but the first person knelt down.
Immediately following, as if triggering a chain reaction, tens of thousands of civilians in the square, regardless of race or age, all knelt down in a sea of black.
They bowed their heads deeply and offered their most sincere prayers to the golden deity in the sky.
"God! Please! Take us away from this hell!"
"Alright, alright, get up, everyone."
Xiu En waved his hand.
"What kind of behavior is this, crying and sobbing? I never said I wasn't taking you with me."
He turned around, with his back to all the civilians, and announced his final decision to the command center.
"Bruce, did you hear that? They all want to leave."
"Xiu En, do you have any thoughts?"
"My idea is quite clear: I'll pack them up and send them back to you. As for their accommodation, meals, and psychological counseling, I'll leave that to you professionals. After all, you have a dozen Batman mouths to give orders."
"Hmm, at least over two hundred thousand! From hundreds of different races?!"
"We are waging war! Not conducting interstellar humanitarian aid!"
Sylvie roared angrily.
"Our target is Kang! Not these useless slaves!"
"They are not useless slaves; they are people who need help!"
Clark immediately retorted.
"I support Shuen's decision!"
"I support it too!" Steve followed suit.
"Wow, a cross-universe refugee reception? That sounds like it'll cost a fortune."
Tony stroked his chin and began to estimate the costs.
The command center was in complete chaos.
Xiu En completely ignored what they were arguing about; whether they agreed or disagreed was irrelevant.
He has already started acting on his own.
"Loki, open another door, a big one, big enough to fit it all in."
He pointed to the square.
"It's my pleasure to serve you, my esteemed protagonist."
Loki's gloating voice rang out, and a golden portal, larger than ever before and almost covering the entire city square, slowly unfolded.
On the other side of the door was the grassland of the Ximu Realm.
Xiu En felt it wasn't enough, so he opened several more portals, from which many of Xiu En's projections flew out to different parts of this world to evacuate refugees.
Shuen turned around and once again gave the group of civilians who were still kneeling and praying a sun-like smile.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the flight to Ximu Realm is about to take off. Please do not crowd and board in an orderly manner."
With a wave of his hand, a force lifted everyone up, like cargo on a conveyor belt, sending them batch by batch into the portal to new life.
After the last group of civilians entered the portal, Shuen's clone looked back at the empty, desolate city, where only steel and despair remained.
"Alright, Ivy, you can get started now."
As he finished speaking, the cannon on the corn train, slung over his shoulder, aimed at the time fortress in the center of the city, a symbol of Kang's rule.
Meanwhile, on the Ximu Realm side, Xiu En's main body looked at the hundreds of thousands of refugees surging into the Ximu Realm grassland like a dark tide on the other side of the teleportation portal and felt a little troubled.
He nudged Ivy, who was happily counting the types of new residents, and said, "Little Flower, is there enough space here? So many people will flood your flowers."
"Don't worry, the Ximu Realm is expanding every day, and it can accommodate ten times more people."
Ivy replied, her thoughts sweeping over the bewildered, weakened refugees, her voice filled with pity.
"But they need a real home."
"Then give them a home."
A holographic communication link was established directly with Adrian Witt, who was working on an urban redevelopment project.
"Adrian, my chief planner!"
"Remember those backup planets you designed before? Now, pick one with a climate most similar to Earth and build it for me. I need a city that can accommodate at least hundreds of thousands of intelligent beings of different races within 24 hours, with an independent ecological cycle and basic living facilities. Can you manage that?"
Adrian Witt, who was directing his robot army to clear a patch of ruins, paused for a moment as he looked at the dark mass of refugees on the projected screen.
"Leave it to me, my sun! I will not only complete it, but I will exceed your expectations!"
Bruce walked over, deep in thought.
"Xiu En, have you ever thought about this?"
He gazed at the endless stream of refugees.
"If there are so many refugees in one Kang world, what about tens of thousands of Kang worlds? This means endless wars and endless refugees. No matter how large the Ximu Realm is, it has its limits. We cannot turn this place into a cross-universe refugee camp; that would completely destroy it."
"Then what do you suggest? I can't just stand by and watch someone die."
Bruce shook his head.
"We need a longer-term plan. A systematic and sustainable solution for cross-universe rescue, resettlement, and even reconstruction. I will consider it. The technical team will also assist."
He glanced at the refugees who were receiving initial resettlement from Afu and the heroes.
"At least let them get a good night's sleep here."
Meanwhile, in the world of Kronos.
The corn train cannon was aimed at the time fortress.
"Ivy, maximum power."
"Received. The energy connection to the Ximu Realm's ley lines is at 120% overload. The Vibranium biomagnetic field is complete. The Golden Crow Corn Cannonball is loaded."
The cannon barrel began to emit a green light, and the vibranium vines on it lit up with golden patterns as energy gathered and compressed within the barrel.
next second.
An ordinary-looking corn cob was shot out of the cannon at a speed that exceeded the limits of visual perception.
It instantly covered a distance of tens of kilometers.
Then, it crashed into the outer shell of the Time Fortress.
The instant the corn kernel touched the fortress, only—light!!!
A sun, seemingly born at the dawn of the universe, expanded at the center of the Time Fortress!
Wherever the light reached, it touched everything from the indestructible Future Alloy to the defensive force field that warped time, as well as the countless backup systems and clone factories left behind by Kang.
Everything was reduced to free energy particles in this golden light.
However, after the light shrank, it split into countless smaller corn cannons that fired in unison.
In just three seconds, the Time Fortress, along with the industrial area beneath it, was wiped off the face of the earth.
"Not bad."
Xiu En nodded in satisfaction.
"The recoil is a bit strong, though."
Having eliminated the biggest threat, Xiu En's clone didn't rush to leave. He planted the corn cannon in the ground, and with a swift movement, flew directly into the still-heating giant crater.
Inside the command center of the Ximu Realm.
"I retract all my previous opinions about corn."
Tony swallowed hard.
"I recommend classifying this weapon as 'not for discussion'."
"Someone suggested it," Bruce said.
Xiu En's clone was like a diligent scavenger, searching everywhere in the ruins of the Time Fortress. Most things had been completely annihilated in the divine fire purification, but some core materials and the most special things managed to survive.
He first pulled out something resembling a server core from a block of molten metal, which was still faintly glowing.
"This smells good, kind of like a blueberry-scented hard drive. It should be worth something."
He weighed it in his hand and casually tossed it into the portal.
He kicked aside another armor plate and discovered a perfectly intact armory underneath, filled with all sorts of time-based weapons he had never seen before.
"Yes, these can be sent directly to Bruce and the others for research. It'll save them the trouble of making them themselves."
With another wave of his hand, the entire armory was packed up and sent away.
Finally, at the very center of the ruins, where Kang's throne once stood, he discovered a multidimensional energy core floating in mid-air, constantly flickering between reality and illusion.
He could sense that this thing contained all of the core technologies of this world regarding time travel and dimensional traversal.
Xiu En reached out and grabbed the constantly flashing multidimensional energy core, ready to pack up and call it a day.
At this time.
A spatial tearing sound, even more ear-piercing than the corn cannon firing earlier, echoed in the brass-colored sky!
A highly unstable time vortex was torn apart. Immediately, a colossal, ring-shaped flagship, as massive as a floating city, emerged from the vortex in a sorry state, riddled with wounds and billowing black smoke!
Behind it followed dozens of similarly battered frigates. This fleet looked as if it had just narrowly escaped a brutal and gruesome battle.
Meanwhile, in the command center of the Ximu Realm, the alarm sounded once again, echoing through the sky!
"Detection of a massive time-lapse event! It's Kang's flagship!"
Reed Richards reported loudly.
"But its energy response is only 30% of its peak in the data! It looks like it just suffered a defeat!"
"Who cares if we lost the battle or not!"
"Shuen! Now! Kill him!"
On the flagship's bridge, a tall figure wearing a blue mask and high-tech purple and green armor looked down at the empty ruins of the city, now just a giant crater, and fell silent. "My city? My factory!?"
He had just suffered a defeat in a war against another powerful variant and was forced to retreat to his base to regroup. But he never dreamed that his home base would be destroyed while he was away!
His gaze fell on the golden figure standing in the center of the giant pit, still playing with his multidimensional energy core in his hand.
"Who are you-?!"
Kang's voice made the entire sky tremble.
The next second, the flagship's main gun, as well as the guns of all the escort ships, locked onto Xiu En's position.
The Time Deletion Beam, more than ten times more powerful than those previous minions, poured down on Xiu En's clone!
Faced with the barrage, Xiu En watched with great interest as the blue light rain swept in from all directions. Then he opened his arms and let all the beams of light bombard him.
The N-metal runes on the surface of the [True Golden Crow Armor] instantly lit up, forming a golden energy field. The Urukin runes then redirected the concepts of these attacks, while the vibranium portion began to absorb and store the dissipated pure time energy.
All the beams of light were easily absorbed. Only a small portion penetrated the energy field and acted on the divine armor, causing the golden light on the armor's surface to flicker slightly, without even leaving a scratch.
Pressure? Not at all.
Xiu En's clone even felt warm all over, and somewhat comfortable.
"that's all?"
He raised his hand and looked at the flagship in the sky with a disappointed expression.
"My brand new clothes, and you can't even make a wrinkle? Is this all the power your Kang's weapons have?"
On the flagship's bridge, Kang looked at the unharmed golden figure on the main screen, along with the report displayed next to it: "Attack ineffective, energy completely absorbed."
How could that be?!
His time-erasing technology is his weapon of choice for conquering countless universes! No matter or energy has ever been able to withstand it head-on!
Even other Kangs are not acceptable!
"What kind of thing are you?"
"Guess? There's a prize if you guess right!"
Xiu En tossed the multidimensional energy core in his hand upwards like he was tossing an apple.
Kang was even angrier.
"You! Are! Looking! To! Die!"
Kang's figure vanished from the flagship, and the next second, he appeared in front of Xiu En! A blue battle axe, shimmering with the energy of time, appeared in his hand, and with the force of severing the river of history, he slashed fiercely down at Xiu En's head!
Xiu En's clone neither dodged nor evaded, but also raised his right fist, covered in golden armor, to meet the attack head-on!
"boom-!!!"
The collision of fist and axe unleashed a massive energy burst! The entire world of Kronos groaned and trembled under this force!
The [True Golden Crow Divine Armor]'s ability to lock onto enemies rendered all of Kang's attacks, which were imbued with time paradoxes, ineffective. Furthermore, Kang's future armor, honed through countless wars, also possessed extremely high resistance to Xiu En's divine fire. The battle quickly became a stalemate.
"Not bad! You're more durable than any Asgardian I've ever killed!"
Kang swung his battle axe faster and faster, his voice filled with the excitement of a voracious fan.
"After you die, I will make your corpse the most magnificent decoration on my throne!"
"You've got quite a mouth to feed! I just don't know if you'll even make it out of here alive."
Just as the two were preparing for an even more intense attack, the bronze-colored sky was torn apart once again.
But this time, hundreds and thousands of spatial portals from different timelines appeared! From these portals poured out even more and more endless fleets!
The paint schemes of these fleets varied from Siegfried's; some resembled ancient Egyptian solar boats, others medieval Gothic fortresses, and still others were entirely incomprehensible geometric shapes. Yet, without exception, their cannons were all aimed at the same person: Kronoscan, who was currently fighting Shuen.
Kronoscan looked at himself, which was so large that it blotted out the sky.
"You hyenas! Did you come here because you smelled my blood?!"
"The usurper must be eliminated!"
A voice like that of a pharaoh resounded from a flagship of a solar ship.
"All deviations from the timeline must be cut off, including you, loser."
Another young voice responded.
"Kang da kang!"
In the command center of the Dawnwood Realm, Tony Stark watched this spectacular scene unfold.
"Oh! I love this show! Quick! Give me popcorn and a Coke!"
"They're fighting amongst themselves."
"This confirms Loki's intelligence. The Council of Kang is not a monolithic entity."
In the center of the battlefield, Xiu En's clone stopped attacking and watched with great interest as Kronoscon was instantly surrounded and besieged.
"Tsk tsk tsk, looks like you don't have very good interpersonal relationships," he mocked Kang.
"Shut up!"
Kang roared, but he had no time to worry about Poe and Xiu En. Thousands of time-based weapons from different fleets had already locked onto his flagship.
Bruce's voice rang out.
"Shuen! Retreat immediately!"
"Why? Isn't this a perfect opportunity to kick a dog when it's down?"
Xiu En was somewhat puzzled.
"No. Our goal is not to kill any one Kang, but to find a way to end the entire Kang dynasty."
"Getting involved in this pointless melee will only expose our strength and waste energy. Return immediately. We need to use the core you just acquired and the armor data fused to your body to create new armor for everyone, capable of handling this war!"
After thinking about it, Xiu En felt that Bruce made sense.
He glanced at the Cronoscon, which was already engulfed by countless artillery fire and was struggling desperately to put up a fight.
"Alright, gentlemen, I won't get involved in your domestic disputes. Have a good time."
After saying that, his figure, along with the sunflower, vanished into thin air as a golden dot of light.
Xi Mu Jie, Command Center.
With a flash of light, Xiu En's clone appeared before everyone. The corn train cannon in his hand transformed into a golden corn cob, which he casually tossed to the sunflower.
He then tossed the captured multidimensional energy core to the technical team.
"Here you go, the new toy you wanted."
