Chapter 46 A Fat Rabbit Falls from the Sky

The hidden light strips on the dome of the bat cave, originally designed to simulate natural light, suddenly began to flash irregularly.

"etativeL! (Float!)"

With a forcibly reversed incantation, the purple halo in mid-air exploded instantly.

Zatana Zatala was like a humanoid piece of luggage spat out of that halo, falling straight down amidst a shower of purple starlight and playing cards.

In her arms was a ridiculously large white rabbit with a red bow tie around its neck, emitting an extremely loud, terrified scream that only a rabbit of its size could make.

Bruce almost instinctively sprang from his chair.

His movements didn't resemble catching a beautiful woman in distress; they were more like catching a meteorite about to crash into an expensive control panel.

He steadily extended his hands and caught Zatana when she was only centimeters away from the pile of supercomputers.

"Oh, landing successful."

Zatana blinked, her exaggeratedly long false eyelashes still covered in glitter that had somehow gotten off her.

She showed no intention of getting down; instead, she adjusted herself into a more comfortable position in Bruce's arms and turned her hat back around.

"I have to complain about this damn leyline teleportation service; it almost threw me all the way to Metropolis. Also, long time no see, Bruce. Your muscles seem even harder; haven't you been stretching properly lately?"

"Could you please log off from my console first?"

Bruce remained expressionless, but his method of throwing her away was noticeably gentler. He placed Zatana on the ground and casually removed a Queen of Hearts from her collar.

"And I miss you too, Zatana."

"Hypocritical Little Bruce."

Zatana snorted, straightened her tuxedo, and then finally noticed Xiu En standing next to her, gazing affectionately at the giant rabbit that was still trembling.

The magic wand in her hand suddenly stopped, and her playful expression turned sharp in an instant, her all-seeing gaze locking onto Xiu En.

"Is this the trouble you were talking about?"

Zatana pushed up her hat brim and spoke in a very professional tone.

"Wow, Bruce, where did you pick him up this time? He's so bright, it's like he has a supernova inside his soul."

Before Xiu En could even introduce himself, the giant rabbit that had been huddled in the corner was looking at him excitedly.

The rabbit twitched its pink nose twice, and then, as if attracted by a magnet, it hopped in front of Xiu En in a flash.

It rubbed its big, furry head against Xiu En's thigh with more fervor than if it had seen the best food.

"It seems we don't need detection magic anymore."

Zatana raised an eyebrow as she watched this scene.

"Fat Bunny is a magical creature that is only interested in pure energy. The fact that it likes you so much means that even if you are a mess, you are a very pure mess."

Xiu En awkwardly reached out and stroked the rabbit's head, finding the texture surprisingly good.

"It's called Fat Bunny? That's a really... straightforward name."

Shuen glanced at Zatana.

"By the way, if this is also part of the inspection, then I hope the next thing isn't pulling a pigeon out of my hat and stuffing it into my mouth."

Zatana did not lower her guard because of Shuen's joke.

She walked up to Xiu En and gently hovered one end of the magic wand about ten centimeters above his chest.

A purple glow flowed from the tip of the magic wand, trying to envelop Xiu En like smoke.

But the next second, the golden energy within Xiu En's body lit up for a moment almost as if in response.

The purple magical smoke vaporized and disappeared instantly, like snowflakes encountering a hot iron.

Zatana withdrew her hand, and the magic wand even let out a faint groan.

She stared at Xiu En, her tone becoming serious for the first time.

"Bruce, your problem this time isn't some simple ley line resonance or curse."

She turned her head and looked at the dark knight.

"I'm not sure if he's sleepwalking through Gotham, but I'm sure that the reason Gotham's ley lines resonate with him is probably because it thinks this guy is delicious or nutritious."

Xiu En, holding the rabbit, froze in place.

"Wait, is that an adjective a magician should use? Who wants to eat whom? I'm a patient, not animal feed!"

Xiu En suddenly pushed the huge and enthusiastic rabbit head in his arms away with all his might. Taking advantage of the moment when Fat Boy was stunned by being pushed away, he slid sideways with his feet as smoothly as if they were smeared with butter.

This slide not only precisely avoided the rabbit's second hug, but also perfectly hid him behind Bruce's latissimus dorsi muscles, which were as wide as a wall.

Shum cautiously peeked half his head out from above Batman's shoulder.

"Compared to someone like me, who smells metallic and is as hard as a baguette that's been sitting out for three years."

Xiu En speaks very quickly.

"This Gotham prince, worth billions and raised on organic food with perfect muscle mass, is the real premium filet mignon! I'm nothing more than expired emergency rations—seriously, terrible taste and easy to chew!"

Bruce didn't even lift his eyelids.

As Gotham's richest man, he experiences being used as a shield a dozen times a year, though it's usually in the world of fame and fortune.

But being used as a rabbit-proof shield by a man with divine power and a glowing effect is definitely a first.

He made a very simple move: he took a step to the right.

The movements were subtle, even elegant.

But this simple step directly exposed Hugh to the air and to the lustful, green gaze of Fat Boy.

"If I were Philip."

"Then you're like the unground black pepper sprinkled on filet mignon. It's pungent and spicy, and for most Gotham diners, that pungent smell often means excitement."

He even had time to give Xiu En a fake smile.

"Since she is a guest, as the host, please make sure this lady's pet has a good time."

Fat Bunny clearly didn't understand, nor did he care that the two humans were discussing which was tastier.

With its line of sight no longer obstructed, the giant creature let out a low roar like a truck shifting gears, and slammed its hind legs into the ground.

This time, even Xiu En's supposedly lightning-fast sliding steps were ineffective.

"I protest! I want a writ of habeas corpus!"

With a scream, Xiu En was slammed onto the cold ground of the bat cave by the huge white fur ball.

However, the furball didn't hurt him; he only felt the furry sensation and the feeling of a wet, large tongue frantically washing his face.

Fat Boy seemed to want to lick him like a giant lollipop until he melted.
