Simultaneous Transmigration: We Share a Role-Playing System
Chapter 9 Black - Ran Away?
At 2 p.m., Manhattan is packed with people. The sidewalks on Broadway, the entrance to Madison Square Park, and the boutiques on Fifth Avenue are all crowded with pedestrians.
The wind carried the noise of the street through the neighborhood until a piercing siren suddenly broke the commotion.
Several brand-new Ford police cars parked directly at the intersection of Broadway, Fifth Avenue, and 23rd Street, immediately attracting the attention of the surrounding crowd.
As soon as the lead sheriff got out of the car, he immediately began assigning tasks, surrounding the entire Flatiron Building, and then casually pointed to two rookie officers, telling them to set up a cordon.
At that moment, the surrounding crowd also noticed the special forces members on the roof of the Iron Building. They quickly rappelled down, ready to break through the windows and storm in at any time.
As for the two newbies, they moved towards the intersection while pulling on the police tape, whispering among themselves.
"What did you say? Walter said there are superpowered criminals here? Then why did you call us here?"
"How would I know? Ever since Vought signed the contract with the Department of Defense, they've also gained law enforcement authority over violent incidents. Logically speaking, it wouldn't be wrong for them to ask us for support, especially since Vought has sponsored our bureau with a large sum of money."
When he thought of the bureau's new coffee machine, even the newbie could only purse his lips. After all, that thing was really useful. You could drink good coffee for free, what more could you ask for?
However, he still complained a couple of times when he thought of the "hero" in charge of their neighborhood and the accusations from his family about his inaction.
But then he thought about the "hero" in charge of their area, and the neighbors' complaints about his inaction, and he couldn't help but mutter a few words: "In my opinion, Walter is becoming a second police station. We police officers will be squeezed out of our jobs by these 'heroes' sooner or later."
"Stop talking and focus on your own business. Which of these heroes are we to mess with? Besides, they're superheroes."
"So what if they're superheroes? Haven't we seen enough of their dirty work? If you ask me, they'll get their comeuppance sooner or later!"
Before the two could finish speaking, special forces soldiers outside the building suddenly threw a chemical bomb into the window. Shards of glass grazed their heads and hit the ground, sending up a cloud of debris.
The two rookie police officers who were almost accidentally injured were instantly enraged, looking up at Vought's special forces members and yelling:
"Fuck me! Watch where you're throwin' that shit!"
The two had barely given the middle finger to the people upstairs when the group smashed through the window and rushed in. But just two seconds later, a hero in a black combat suit was thrown out of the window, followed by a burst of gunfire from inside the building.
Seeing the situation was getting out of hand, the sheriff drew his gun and ordered most of the officers to rush into the building. As per protocol, the two rookies were left behind to guard the perimeter and maintain order.
But they had barely turned around and taken two steps when a deafening crash came from behind them, followed by the piercing wail of sirens. The two men whirled around and saw Xuan Se struggling to get up from the smashed roof of the police car.
Everything happened so fast that the two were completely stunned—they had no idea whether to check on Xuanse's condition first or continue guarding the perimeter to maintain order.
The onlookers reacted quickly, bursting into thunderous cheers and shouting Xuanse's name over and over again.
Now, the two realized what was happening and quickly rushed over to help Xuan Se, who seemed unwell, and respectfully asked:
"Sir! Are you alright? Do you need any help?"
Before he could finish speaking, another gunshot rang out from upstairs. Startled, Xuan Se trembled and flung the two men three meters away. Amidst the cheers of the crowd...
Ran.
After the black-clad figure completely disappeared into the crowd, the onlookers realized what had happened and gradually quieted down.
No?
Ran? ? ?
Xuan Se, one of the seven members of the group, who is known as a cold-blooded killer, a knight of the night, and a professional and reliable elite, just abandoned his mission and ran away in public like this?!
Just as superhero supporters were starting to doubt their own eyes, the dazed Butcher, with two handprints on his face, walked out of the building, glanced at the two rookies, then flashed his signature crooked smile and pulled out his badge.
"Federal Superhuman Affairs Bureau, I need to call the police."
"You...you, what did you say?"
"I'm saying, Vought International, premeditated murder, we're agents of the Federal Bureau of Paranormal Affairs, understand?"

When Butcher finished speaking with his former CIA superior, Grace, and went back upstairs, he happened to see medical staff carrying special forces soldiers with severed arms and legs downstairs.
When he returned to the base, the "corpses" scattered all over the ground had been cleared away, leaving only Hugh, who had just woken up from his coma, and Locke in his new form.
Locke sat imposingly on the sofa. Seeing the butcher return, he asked:
"nailed it?"
Grace said he would think about it.
"That means they're just waiting and seeing, but that's within my expectations, given their attitude towards their own countrymen."
Locke wasn't surprised by the CIA's attitude. After all, that's how the country treats Homelander: on the one hand, they're afraid Homelander will go crazy, but on the other hand, they don't care about Azu, who's been chained up like a dog by Walter.
After all, in their eyes, Ah Zu was like a baby elephant that had been tied up since it was a cub. Even when it grew up, it dared not break free of its restraints, so naturally they didn't take it seriously.
Unfortunately, what they didn't know was that Homelander was already on the verge of spiraling out of control, and when that day actually came, there would be nothing they could do.
However, this was exactly what Locke wanted to see, since he only wanted Cypher and Stan to die, and he only wanted to see Walter gradually move towards destruction.
However, despite Locke having just saved their lives, the butcher still harbored doubts about him, or perhaps he was still bothered by Locke's act of slapping him awake.
The butcher sat amidst the ruins, sizing Locke up and down. "So, what's your plan, Prophet?"
"Of course, we should lay low for a while."
Locke then stood up and stretched his body slightly.
"Stan is as anxious as an ant on a hot pan right now. The more anxious he is, the calmer we need to be. Today's surprise attack is a signal. Luckily, it was Black today. If it had been Locomotive or Homelander, do you think you two would still be alive?"
Upon hearing this, Butcher and Hugh fell silent. They were only able to briefly fight against superhumans thanks to Temporary Number Five, but if they encountered a situation like today, they wouldn't have time to use the drug.
They've always been in the shadows while Walter has been in the open, and Walter hasn't taken them seriously, which is why they've survived until now.
But they should have realized that everything had changed drastically after they stormed Elmira and kidnapped Locke.
Now, they are facing the entire Vought Group, a Vought Group that is willing to pay any price and has no bottom line.
After figuring all this out, Hugh was almost overwhelmed by the immense pressure. Today Walter dared to come to their door so openly, what if he attacked their family tomorrow?
The butcher looked up at Locke and found no worry in his eyes, but rather confidence, which made him subconsciously want to ask Locke what to do.
It's as if this "Mr. Hope" has truly become their only hope.
But soon he realized what was happening and felt a chill run down his spine. Why did he trust this superpowered bastard so much after only knowing him for two days?
The butcher's face gradually darkened. He swallowed his question and prepared to find a way to solve his current predicament himself, rather than relying on this transformed bastard.
until------
Hugh: "So what should we do next?"
The butcher turned to look at Hugh in disbelief, while Locke glanced at him, then at Hugh, as if understanding his thoughts. He chuckled softly and replied:
"Simple, stall for time, let them fight amongst themselves, let their internal problems arise first, so—"
"Hugh, call Newman and tell Stan's adopted daughter, who got her head blown off, to prepare to declare war on Vought."
