Guyver Armor: KAP-2

Chapter 41 Recuperation, Attack on Shirakawa Town

On the rain-shrouded ridges of the fields, Tsubasa Kamino and her group were trudging towards the town, their steps uneven.

Their trouser legs were covered in mud, and rain dripped from their hair. The all-night chase and journey had left everyone's faces etched with exhaustion.

Ahead, through the rain and mist, the outline of Shirakawa Town gradually became clear.

This is a remote mountain town with a main street connecting a few scattered shops, and low-rise houses scattered around. Smoke from the chimneys spreads in the rain, revealing a rare sense of tranquility.

"We'll reach the town soon." Tsubasa Shinno wiped the rain from his face, his gaze sweeping over the weary faces of the group, his tone softening.

"I'll go to the shops in town to find some transportation. You guys go to a small restaurant in town to rest for a while and have something hot to eat. Jing, you stay with them and protect everyone."

"Kano-sensei, please be careful too." Fukamachi Akira nodded in agreement.

The two parties agreed to meet at the town gate an hour later and then went their separate ways.

The town's commerce was really underdeveloped. Tsubasa Kamino wandered around for a long time but couldn't find a proper car shop. He could only sneak into a farm machinery shop next to the main street.

In the corner of the shop, two dusty farm tricycles sat quietly.

He reluctantly asked the boss to check the diesel fuel tank and engine, which were still usable.

It seems we'll have to make do with this for now.

On the other side, Akira Fukamachi and her group entered a small restaurant on the street corner. The warm yellow light inside the restaurant, along with the aroma of steaming food, instantly relaxed everyone's tense nerves.

The proprietress quickly served several bowls of steaming ramen and a few side dishes.

Starving, the group picked up their bowls and practically wolfed down the hot soup noodles. As the scalding food entered their throats, the heavy fatigue gradually faded away under the warmth of the food.

"Woof woof woof! Woof woof!"

Suddenly, a rapid, warning bark shattered the tranquility of the store.

A small, yellow and white mixed-breed dog suddenly appeared from some corner, rushed straight to Fukamachi Akira's feet, its nose twitching incessantly, and barked wildly at him.

Clearly, it keenly detected the lingering faint smell of blood and gunpowder on the crystal.

"Little Fatty! Don't do that!" A little girl with pigtails, about 7 or 8 years old, rushed over and struggled to grab the dog's collar.

She said apologetically to everyone, "I'm sorry, brothers and sisters, it's usually very well-behaved and never does this..."

Seeing this, Segawa Mizuki squatted down, reached out and gently stroked the puppy's slightly ruffled head, soothing it in a soft voice: "Sweetie, we're not bad people."

As if sensing the other party's goodwill, Little Fatty's originally wary gaze slowly softened, and he wagged his tail and affectionately rubbed against Ruiji's palm.

The little girl's name was Xiao Kui. She probably rarely saw strangers in town. When her dog quieted down, she chattered on and on about the interesting things that happened in town. It took her a long time before she reluctantly said goodbye and left.

After enjoying a hearty meal, everyone thanked the hospitable proprietress and packed some rice balls and snacks that would keep well before heading towards the agreed meeting point at the town gate.

I hadn't gone far from the restaurant when a cry suddenly came from outside.

It's Xiaokui's voice.

Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw Xiao Kui lying on the side of the street corner.

Little Fatty was barking wildly at several men with their backs turned when one of the tall men kicked him away, sending him crashing to the ground, whimpering and struggling to get up.

"Hey, what are you doing!" Akira Fukamachi shouted angrily and rushed forward. Tetsuro Segawa also helped Aoi up and questioned her sharply.

Upon hearing the sound, the men turned around nonchalantly.

But upon seeing Fukamachi Akira and her group clearly, the leader's pupils suddenly contracted, followed by an expression of extreme ecstasy:

"It's Kep and his group! We've been searching high and low, and they've done us a huge favor!"

Before the words were even finished, someone behind him immediately grabbed a radio and began frantically reporting at the top of his lungs:

"Headquarters! Headquarters! Target: Kep and his group spotted! Requesting backup! Requesting backup!"

At the same time, the black coats of the others burst open, sending fragments of fabric flying amidst the rain.

Grayish-blue scales and coarse, long hairs grew wildly, and a ferocious beast-like form suddenly appeared. It was a squad of beast-like soldiers that Kronos had chased after!

The leader, Gobiruba, licked his lips, grinned maliciously, and waved his hand: "Go! Capture them!"

But today's Akira Fukamachi is no longer that flustered novice, but a battle-hardened warrior.

"Kep!"

He stood in front of the crowd, and in the green light, the Guyver Armored KAP-1 appeared.

He swung his arms, and the high-frequency sword swept out with a hum that tore through the air, splattering blood wherever the sword flashed.

In just a few rounds, the ordinary beastmen were completely defenseless. Their heads were precisely pierced, and they fell straight down into the broken bricks and stones, convulsing and lifeless.

Gobiruba's sinister smile froze instantly as he watched his team members fall to the ground one after another within a minute, cold sweat trickling down his forehead.

His eyes darted around, and taking advantage of the moment when Fukamachi Akira sheathed his sword, he suddenly lunged to the side and grabbed Aoi's petite body.

Sharp claws pressed against her neck with such force that Xiao Kui burst into tears instantly.

"Don't come any closer! I'll kill this brat if he touches you again!"

Goby Ruba tightened his claws slightly, pressing a faint red mark onto Xiao Kui's delicate neck.

Akira Fukamachi froze abruptly, hesitant to make any further move for fear of harming the victim.

At this critical moment, a dark yellow figure, like a ghost, rushed out from behind Gobiruba at lightning speed!

It's Kamino Tsubasa!

KEP-2 somehow circled around to the rear of Gobiruba, and the high-frequency sword on its left side suddenly glowed blue, whistling as it flashed past like lightning.

With a soft "plop," blood splattered everywhere.

Gobiruba's head flew into the air, and blood gushed out from the severed neck.

The headless body stood frozen for a moment before collapsing heavily to the ground, lifeless.

Kanna Tsubasa had already taken a step forward and steadily caught the kidnapped Aoi.

He raised his hand to cover the girl's eyes, his voice extremely soft and gentle: "Good girl, don't look."

The battle ended abruptly, leaving a faint smell of blood in the air.

Just then, a middle-aged man wearing round-framed glasses rushed over. He was Xiaokui's father—the deputy mayor of Shirakawa-cho.

He looked at the hideous corpse of the beastman on the ground, then at Tsubasa Kanno and Akira Fukamachi standing to the side after removing their armor, suppressed the panic in his eyes, and rushed over quickly.

"Thank you! Thank you so much for saving Xiao Kui! I am extremely grateful!"

The deputy mayor bowed deeply to everyone at a ninety-degree angle, his tone filled with lingering fear and gratitude.

Before Kamino Tsubasa could respond, he turned and ran quickly into a nearby house. A moment later, a minivan that was about 70% new slowly drove up.

"I heard from the owner of the farm machinery shop that you're in a hurry and need transportation, right?"

The deputy mayor jumped out of the car, stuffed the car keys into Kamino Tsubasa's hand, and said earnestly, "This is my own family car, it's pretty good. Please accept it, consider it a thank you gift for saving Aoi!"

"And please be careful on your journey!"

Kamino Tsubasa paused for a moment, then solemnly gripped the key and nodded to the deputy mayor: "Thank you."

"It seems we don't have to squeeze into those two farm tricycles anymore."

He turned to look at everyone, a relaxed smile finally appearing on his face.
