Guyver Armor: KAP-2

Chapter 42 Encounter: The First Meeting at the Crossroads

After saying goodbye to Xiao Kui's family, the group started the van and slowly drove away from the town, continuing their journey towards Mount Meina.

Behind them, at the entrance to the town, the silhouette of a black sedan slowly appeared, with the driver's side window half-lowered, vaguely revealing half of the face of someone wearing black sunglasses.

Kronos Japan branch command center.

Richard Geo had his back to the communicator, and a subordinate's trembling voice came through the device: "Reporting, Commander! Target tracks have been discovered in Shirakawa-cho. Our Zerg Squad... completely wiped out!"

"Shirakawa Town... northwest..." Geo pondered for a moment, then suddenly turned around and slammed his fingers heavily on the map on the table—the landing point was the Mina-no-Kami Mountain Ruins Base, marked in red.

"Hmph, thinking they can get away with it by bypassing the highway?" Geo's voice was full of disdain. "It seems those rats' target was the ruins base from the very beginning!"

He grabbed the communicator and, with an unquestionable command, ordered: "Immediately contact the ruins base! Have all reinforcements still en route disperse in squads to every national highway and country road leading from Shirakawa Town toward Mt. Minakami!"

"Once you spot Kep, intercept him on the spot and report to me immediately!"

"Also, have Jelbupps, Upton, and Tam come over." Geo paused. "Arrange a helicopter for me; I'm going to the Menasan Mountain base myself!"

"Yes, Commander!" came a hurried reply from the communicator.

An invisible net slowly unfurled around the perimeter of Mount Meina.

Half a day later, the continuous rain of the past few days finally subsided, and pale golden sunlight pierced through the clouds, shining on the wet gravel road.

Tsubasa Kanno leaned back in the passenger seat, looking at the wrinkled, yellowed map in her hand, her voice tinged with a hint of relaxation:

"Mr. Fukamachi, prepare to turn right at the fork in the road ahead. Don't worry, we're not far from the secret passage. At our current speed, we should arrive in two hours at most."

He was about to turn around to check on the others when he suddenly raised his hand and shouted, "Something's wrong, stop the car!"

Fukamachi Fumio instinctively slammed on the brakes. Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw a brand-new van blocking the intersection from the distance.

Seeing the vehicle forced to stop, ten huge black shadows sprang out from the shadows behind the truck, their sharp claws gleaming coldly, and instantly blocked the front of the van.

The two leading beastmen were particularly eye-catching—their massive bodies were even larger than the one they had seen before, their entire bodies covered in fluffy white fur, with jagged, sharp teeth at the corners of their mouths, and their two thick, long tails swishing, the tips of which gleamed with a cold light.

They were two brand new Insem models!

"Kepp, just surrender!"

One of the Insems stepped forward and said smugly, "Lord Geo has already laid a trap along the way; you can't escape!"

"We have to deal with them, Crystal, and finish this quickly!" Seeing the situation before him, Tsubasa Kamino got out of the car and growled.

"Kep!"

"Transform!"

Two beams of light, one dark yellow and the other cyan, exploded out, and the figures of two Kep took shape almost simultaneously.

A Craig couldn't wait any longer and pounced first. Kamino Tsubasa slumped down and crouched down nimbly, dodging the sweeping claws. At the same time, he snapped his elbow upward and thrust his azure high-frequency sword upward like a viper's hiss.

The blade pierced through Kureg's chin without any resistance, going straight through his head.

"Pfft—" Kureg's eyes instantly dimmed, and his howl stopped abruptly.

With a flick of his wrist, Kanna Tsubasa retracted his sword and kicked the corpse to the side, forcing back two beastmen who were trying to circle around to the rear.

Almost simultaneously, the figure of the KEP-1, like a streak of cyan lightning, landed steadily in front of the van. As its sensory organs on its head turned slightly, it detected a faint energy fluctuation coming from afar.

He suddenly turned his head, and the beam generator on his forehead flashed in succession. Several beams of light shot out like precise arrows, piercing the forehead of a Vimoa who was about to launch a long-range sneak attack.

Just then, two Insem roared and charged at him, brandishing their claws.

"Watch out, Jing! Don't get touched by their claws and tails!"

As Kamino Tsubasa gave the warning, he kicked Ramoch and Gyat away, who were still trying to ambush the vehicle. Then, he fired beams of light from his head at an Insem.

Unexpectedly, when the beam of light hit Insem's fluffy white fur, it sparked a faint glow, as if the fur could reflect some of the energy of the beam.

The Insem merely swayed before charging forward again, bearing only minor burns.

As the latest biological weapons developed by the Relic Base specifically for the use of the KAP, these two brand-new prototype Insem are not only stronger and have an extra long tail, but they have also grown fur that can resist laser beams!

With the two tough Insem tied down, in order to protect the unarmed people inside the vehicle, Tsubasa Kanno and Akira Fukamachi had to abandon the advantage of Cape's speed and instead narrow their defensive line, making the battle very restrictive.

"This won't do, Akira, cover me!" Kamino Tsubasa's telepathic wave instantly transmitted to Fukamachi Akira's mind.

The battles of the past few days had made the two of them work in perfect harmony. KAP-1 immediately unleashed both of his high-frequency swords, the blue sword light weaving a dense net that forced the surrounding beastmen back several meters.

In that brief moment, the long tail of an Insem suddenly darted out like a venomous snake, its tip brushing against Akira Fukamachi's forearm.

"Ugh—!" Fukamachi Akira groaned and looked down.

At the point where it had been slashed, the bio-armor was melting away at a visible speed. Amidst the sizzling sounds, the specially made enzymes were frantically breaking down the biological cells, revealing the bleeding skin underneath.

"Jing, get out of the way!"

The moment Fukamachi Akira lunged to the right, the KEP-2 behind her had already pried open her chest armor to the sides, and the crystalline cannon muzzle on her chest lit up with a blinding white light.

Two bright white beams of light, carrying enormous energy fluctuations, shot out of the sky. Insem, who had successfully launched a sneak attack, along with four beast soldiers, were instantly engulfed by the beams of light and turned into dust.

"Damn it! Retreat...retreat!"

The remaining Insem and the two beastmen were terrified and scrambled to their deaths, leaving two messy mud trails in their wake.

The two Kepps were not about to give them a chance to escape; they split up and gave chase like two streaks of light.

Tsubasa Kamino was the first to catch up with a Ramochus, and his sword swept across, splitting it in two.

Akira Fukamachi followed closely behind, his forehead beam precisely piercing the back of the head of the other Ramochus.

The last one, Insem, was so focused on running that it bumped into a black figure slowly approaching from behind.

"Watch out! Run!" Upon seeing this, Akira Fukamachi felt a pang of anxiety, thinking the other person was an innocent passerby, and hurriedly warned them.

But the next second, a bizarre scene unfolded—

The massive body of Insem suddenly stopped, frozen in place, its pupils dilating into a grayish-white, as if an invisible force had choked it.

Just then, a streak of azure sword light flashed by with a piercing hum.

"Pfft—" Blood splattered everywhere!
