Gou Zai Sect Beast Taming Longevity

Chapter 37 Entrusted with Alchemy

"Fellow Daoist Luo, you've come at the right time. Here is this month's guest fee."

Xi Wenyou smiled and handed him fifty low-grade spirit stones, then handed him a pill formula and said.

"Yesterday, a fellow Daoist named Duan came to commission us to refine pills. I think only you are confident in refining this pill formula. It's of a high level. Take a look."

Yu Changsheng took a look and was somewhat surprised.

"Dispersing Demon Essence Pill, second-tier, mid-grade. One batch can produce three pills. Each pill contains a secret. It can be thrown out and its medicinal properties can be detonated through divine sense. Demons that smell this medicinal property will lose their demon power within a few minutes and be at the mercy of others. It will take half a day for them to recover their demon power."

"This pill is quite interesting. Calling it a pill is an understatement; it's more like a one-time use magic item, similar to the Thunderclap Pearl, but primarily effective against demonic beasts."

He looked up and asked, "This pill is effective against second-tier demonic beasts?"

"Yes, I had other alchemists study it. When it hits a first-tier demonic beast, its demonic power will dissipate within a few minutes, and it will also cause it to fall into a coma. As for a second-tier demonic beast, the effect will be calculated based on the amount of medicine absorbed, and it usually takes more than ten minutes to take effect."

"However, refining it is very difficult. Even a second-tier alchemist cannot guarantee success. Fellow Daoist Duan brought two sets of materials and requested that at least two pills be successfully refined, with the remainder belonging to the alchemist. In addition, he will pay a refining fee of eight hundred low-grade spirit stones!"

Xi Wenyou took out the materials and explained to Yu Changsheng in detail, "If the refining fails, my First-Grade Pharmacy will compensate him with two hundred low-grade spirit stones; if it succeeds, I will give you five hundred low-grade spirit stones. How about that?"

Yu Changsheng smiled with interest: "This Fellow Daoist Duan wants to use this pill to capture a second-tier demon beast, huh? How generous of him."

"Okay, I'll take this order and get back to you within a week."

Xi Wenyou said with a delighted expression, "Then I wish you success in refining the pills, fellow Daoist!"

"Hmm, this is a Spirit Enhancement Pill that I recently refined. It's of the highest quality, with a single pill pattern. Please exchange it for five sets of materials."

"good!"

Soon, Yu Changsheng returned to the wooden house from the Yipin Pharmacy.

"I've never seen this Demon Scattering Core before. It must be because it's difficult to refine and quite expensive."

"If we can refine them in large quantities, I believe many independent cultivators will buy them, and the number of first and second-tier demonic beasts in Fish Market will also increase."

"I can even use this elixir to capture suitable demonic beasts myself."

He studied the pill formula, and the most crucial and difficult part was to leave a catalyst in the pill so that his divine sense could unleash the medicinal properties within.

"The person who made this pill formula is quite talented. They actually used the Nurturing Goddess Herb as a catalyst. I wonder if the demon beasts poisoned by this medicine can be cured with an antidote pill."

"With my current second-level alchemy skills, refining it is difficult, but the Three-Warm Fire Alchemy Technique is the most stable and has the highest success rate among all alchemy techniques. As long as I refine it slowly, there is still hope of successfully making the pill."

"I'll ask my master for his opinion tomorrow; hopefully, I can grasp the next stage of 'stillness.'"

Now, Yu Changsheng has mastered the essence of "slowness," but he only has a slight understanding of the next stage, "stillness," and will need more time to comprehend it.

The next day, at the Alchemy Hall, it was time for another private lesson.

Only Yu Changsheng and Gongsun Yang were in the alchemy room.

To protect Yu Changsheng, Gongsun Yang never revealed his talent in alchemy to outsiders, because he was currently just a menial disciple and only at the fifth level of Qi Refining. If he became too famous, he would easily attract hatred and eventually die somewhere.

Therefore, Gongsun Yang kept a low profile, and even his disciple Tang Xing did not know how skilled Yu Changsheng was in alchemy.

"The Demon-Dispelling Essence Pill, hmm, it should be a pill formula created by a third-level alchemist. The effect is fine, but it's not realistic to mass-produce and sell it because the price is too high."

"Disciple, think about it. Just the materials and refining costs alone amount to more than a thousand low-grade spirit stones. Moreover, the difficulty of making pills is high. Even other third-level alchemists might not be able to succeed with two batches."

"After you've formed the pills, you can sell them. Wouldn't each one fetch at least a thousand low-grade spirit stones?"

"Why bother refining it if you can't make at least three times the profit?"

"So this pill is ultimately a special pill, just a toy. Other rogue cultivators would rather use this money to buy the corpse of a second-tier demon beast, which would only cost about a thousand spirit stones."

Gongsun Yang was very attentive and patient, saying, "Of course, it would be good if you used it yourself. At least it could save your life if you encountered a second-tier demon beast outside."

Yu Changsheng nodded. Selling it to those poor, rogue cultivators was indeed not going to work. No wonder he had never heard of similar pills outside. The market was too small. It would be better for him to refine Spirit Enhancement Pills to make money.

"Alright, let's start refining the pills. I will teach you how to refine these pills. You can assist by controlling the fire and gradually take over. If there are any mistakes, I will correct them by controlling the fire in time."

With a single gesture, Gongsun Yang caused flames to rise from beneath the alchemy furnace in front of him.

Yu Changsheng closed his eyes, made a hand seal, and controlled the fire.

Beneath the alchemy furnace, the fire gradually intensified as various materials were added.

Just as it was about to turn into a raging fire, Gongsun Yang gently tapped the flames and reduced the fire's intensity, speaking slowly as he did so.

"Slow down, calm down, and don't rush things."

"With a pure mind, the fire remains still."

Yu Changsheng's consciousness became calm, and his entire body relaxed.

He could clearly feel the temperature of the flames, and the shape of the elixir seemed to appear before his eyes.

The initially volatile fire was stabilized under his calm and focused control.

Gongsun Yang narrowed his eyes, secretly alarmed.

"My disciple's talent is truly astonishing. After just over a month of instruction, he has already grasped the basics of 'stillness.' Give him another two or three months, and he'll likely achieve complete enlightenment."

"Looking back, it took me five whole years to realize that there's really no way to compare people."

Thinking about it, Gongsun Yang chuckled to himself again.

Such an outstanding alchemy prodigy is his disciple; if his master in heaven knew, he would probably laugh out loud.

The art of alchemy using three kinds of fire can finally be passed down.

Soon, a day later.

"Stop the fire, the elixir is complete!"

As Gongsun Yang shouted, Yu Changsheng made a hand seal and swept the furnace, extinguishing the flames and revealing three pills emitting a black light.

"The Demon-Dispersing Essence Pill has been successfully completed!"

Yu Changsheng stood up with a joyful expression. He hadn't expected to succeed on his first try, and his progress in the second-tier alchemy had increased by nearly a hundred.

Sure enough, having a mentor to teach you step by step makes all the difference.

He couldn't wait to pick up a Demon-Dispelling Pill and examine it. It was indeed mysterious; his divine sense could detect the catalyst inside, which, once activated, would unleash its medicinal properties.

"Master, this pill should be harmless to people, right?" Yu Changsheng asked Gongsun Yang.

Gongsun Yang chuckled and said, "You think this is a sleeping potion? Don't worry, it's ineffective on humans, only on demonic beasts."

As he spoke, he suddenly remembered Yu Changsheng's identity as a beast tamer and hesitated, saying, "However, if this pill is used in battle against a beast tamer, it will probably also render the contracted spirit pet powerless."

"You need to be careful with this; be careful not to hit your own spirit pet when using it."

Yu Changsheng nodded in sudden understanding: "Disciple has remembered, thank you for your guidance, Master."

Gongsun Yang laughed and said, "Let's take a break and then refine the second batch."
