After more than ten minutes, the two white-haired old men slowly calmed down, but their eyes were already red and swollen.

Grandpa Hong wiped his face and pointed at the other person, jokingly saying:

"Haha, Xiao Zhao, look at your eyes, they're swollen like peaches!"

The old man opposite him spat back defiantly:

"Pah! Where have you gone? Your eyes look like a monkey's butt!"

"Hahaha……"

The two old men exchanged a glance and then burst into hearty laughter again.

After laughing enough, Grandpa Hong waved to Chang Kun and introduced him:

"Xiao Zhao, let me introduce you. This is my junior, Chang Kun."

Grandpa Zhao leaned closer and looked Chang Kun up and down: "Hey? Old Hong, I remember your whole family...is gone, isn't it? Is that why you went to fight the Japanese?"

Upon hearing this, Grandpa Hong's eyes widened in surprise:

"What, am I not allowed to have a junior? Let me tell you, I even have a granddaughter now, aren't you envious?"

Grandpa Zhao was so shocked his jaw almost dropped; he waved his hands in disbelief.

"How is this possible? You... there's not enough time! We've only been fighting the Japanese for about ten years, and you've already created a granddaughter?"

"Go to hell! She's my goddaughter, my goddaughter! Hey, Chang Kun introduced her to me." Grandpa Hong explained proudly.

Chang Kun quickly stepped forward and politely greeted, "Uncle Zhao."

Grandpa Zhao carefully examined Chang Kun, then nodded with a smile: "Alright, Old Hong has a sharp tongue. If he thinks highly of you, it means you're definitely not a bad young man."

Upon hearing this, Grandpa Hong was practically strutting around with pride.

"Of course! Come on, Xiao Zhao, let's go grab a couple of drinks!"

Today, Grandpa Hong met his old comrade-in-arms, and he was so excited that he said he couldn't let him go no matter what.

Upon hearing this, Grandpa Zhao's eyes widened even more than before:

"What? Go with you? You come to my turf and expect me to go drinking with you?"

"Stop talking nonsense, come home with me, let's go to my house for a drink!" Old Zhao grabbed him without saying another word.

Faced with such a wonderful stroke of luck, Grandpa Hong had long forgotten about taking Chang Kun to find the warehouse.

Grandpa Zhao grabbed Chang Kun's arm: "Come on, come on, Chang Kun, you come too! We're not drinking today, and nobody's leaving!"

Grandpa Hong laughed heartily, "Then I won't stand on ceremony with you! You can drink yours today, but come to my place tomorrow, and I'll let you try some tiger bone wine!"

Upon hearing this, Grandpa Zhao's eyes lit up instantly, and he exclaimed, "Oh! You even have tiger bone wine?"

Grandpa Hong became even more smug, patting his chest and saying, "Of course! Chang Kun helped me get it, and after drinking this wine, I feel much better!"

"Oh my! I really have to try it!" Grandpa Zhao rubbed his hands together. He had heard that tiger bone wine was so good, and since Old Hong had managed to get his hands on it, he had to have a taste.

The two old men became more and more excited as they talked, and then they put their arms around each other's shoulders and started to walk back.

Seeing this, Chang Kun could only smile wryly and quickly pulled Grandpa Hong aside to remind him:

"Uncle Hong, you and Uncle Zhao go have a drink first, I still need to go find the warehouse."

Grandpa Hong suddenly slapped his forehead, exclaiming in annoyance, "Oh dear! Look at my memory! I was so happy that I forgot all about the important matter!"

Grandpa Zhao curiously leaned closer: "What important matter is it?"

Chang Kun quickly stepped forward to explain: "Uncle Zhao, it's like this, we heard there's an abandoned warehouse left behind by the Japanese in this area, so we wanted to go and look for it."

Upon hearing this, Grandpa Zhao pointed ahead and waved his hand, saying, "Hey, that thing you're talking about up ahead? Don't bother going there! It collapsed the year before last."

"This family takes a tile, that family brings a piece of wood; that warehouse has been in disrepair for years and can't withstand this kind of construction, so it's bound to collapse!"

"Huh?" Chang Kun and Grandpa Hong looked at each other, their faces full of disappointment.

Unexpectedly, after searching two different places, I returned empty-handed both times.

Seeing their appearance, Grandpa Zhao asked suspiciously, "What do you want with this dilapidated warehouse?"

Chang Kun pulled out the story he had prepared earlier: "Well, my unit has recently been catching a group of thieves. We suspect they've found an abandoned warehouse to hide in, so I've been looking around for them."

"Even if that old warehouse in front is still there, thieves wouldn't dare hide there!" Grandpa Zhao shook his head repeatedly.

"That place is always crowded with people, they would have discovered it long ago. If you're talking about catching thieves, you'd definitely have to find some deserted, dilapidated warehouse in the middle of nowhere."

Upon hearing this, Chang Kun's eyes lit up, and he nodded repeatedly:

"Yes, yes, yes! Uncle Zhao, do you know where there is such a place?"

"That's too easy!" Grandpa Zhao waved his hand and pointed in a direction.

"Go west for three miles from here, then turn south for two miles. There's a dilapidated warehouse over there. There aren't many people there usually. You can go and take a look."

He paused for a moment, then readily said, "There are so many paths around here, it'll be hard for you to find. I'll take you there! Once we've found them, we can come back and have a drink."

After saying that, Grandpa Zhao took the lead and set off without further ado.

Grandpa Hong watched his retreating figure, laughed heartily, and didn't stand on ceremony with him:

"Little Zhao, you're still as impatient as ever!"

Then, Grandpa Hong turned his head and lowered his voice to introduce to Chang Kun:

"Xiao Kun, remember the old Zhao I told you about last night? The one who rushed into the Japanese warehouse with a bomb... This Xiao Zhao is his younger brother."

Upon hearing this, Chang Kun was startled and looked at the hunched back in front of him, feeling a deep sense of respect.

Back then, Old Zhao risked his life, and now his younger brother is so kind and compassionate. It's truly admirable.

On the way, the two old men huddled together and whispered about their past.

"Little Zhao, let me tell you, back when we were fighting the Japanese, I personally slit the throats of three Japanese soldiers!" Grandpa Hong said proudly, gesturing with his fingers.

"Tch! You only have three? Back in the day, I used a big knife to cut down five of them in one go! When it comes to killing enemies, you're far behind!" Grandpa Zhao retorted without backing down.

"Bullshit! You're just bragging! If I hadn't covered for you, you would have been mowed down by the Japanese long ago!"

"You're talking nonsense! I was the one who covered for you!"

Chang Kun followed behind, pushing his bicycle, listening with amusement.

These two old men are quite interesting. Apart from being moved to tears when they first reunited, they spent almost all their time bickering after that.

As they continued mixing, the two started talking about their recent situations.

Grandpa Hong boasted quietly, "Little Zhao, my life is all thanks to Chang Kun's care. I can eat meat every few days now. I never dared to dream of this before."

Xiao Zhao stared wide-eyed. "You think you can eat meat every few days? Are you kidding me?"

As they were talking, the old warehouse came into view without them even realizing it.

Chang Kun stopped and looked ahead, his heart skipping a beat.

The sensor detected several red dots in the abandoned warehouse, indicating that thieves were stealing!

He smiled bitterly to himself. He had only made up an excuse to catch a thief, but he never expected that the excuse would actually come true.

Is this a case of words becoming law?!
