Chapter 91 The Sharp-Tongued Sister

In the courtyard of the small restaurant, Xu Hongdou and her older sister Xu Hongmi sat facing each other.

Xu Hongmi, who was typing on her phone, glanced at Xu Hongdou and said, "You've gained weight! And gotten darker!"

"You really know how to talk," Xu Hongdou said, completely helpless against her sister's sharp tongue.

"Thank you for the compliment?" Xu Hongmi said with a smile.

"Why did you suddenly come?" Xu Hongdou couldn't help but ask.

"I have a surprise for you!" Xu Hongmi said.

"You should have at least told me so I could have sent someone to pick you up!" Xu Hongdou said.

"No need, that guesthouse offers airport shuttle service..." Xu Hongmi said, then glanced at Xu Hongdou meaningfully, "Who will they send to pick you up? Your new boyfriend? Driving a campervan to the airport?"

Xu Hongdou paused for a moment upon hearing this, then blurted out, "Can't I even have a boyfriend?"

"He's too young and handsome, a wanderer who roams the world. Can you handle him?" Xu Hongmi asked rhetorically.

"How do you know so much?" Xu Hongdou asked in surprise.

"Please, it's not like I'm out of touch with society. I use Douyin too, okay?" Xu Hongmi rolled her eyes at her. "Are you serious? Or just playing around? I'm thirty, I can't afford to play around like this!"

"What do you mean you can't take a joke? When have I ever played around like that?" Xu Hongdou's beautiful eyes widened slightly.

"Mom, Auntie, don't fight," Lingdang couldn't help but say.

Upon hearing this, Xu Hongdou smiled and looked at her, saying, "No, your aunt is just reasoning with your mother!"

Xu Hongmi shook her head slightly and continued typing on her phone.

"Can you stop playing on your phone?" Xu Hongdou couldn't help but say when she saw this.

"I'm working, why are you playing on your phone?" Xu Hongmi replied, "Wait a minute, I'll be right there!"

"Give it to me in half an hour, OK?" Xu Hongmi said, sending a voice message into her phone.

After putting down her phone, Xu Hongmi tapped the table lightly and said to Xu Hongdou, "Waiter, the coffee is cold."

"I'm just here to help temporarily, I'm not even a volunteer," Xu Hongdou said.

Xu Hongmi remained noncommittal: "You're quite enthusiastic, aren't you? Looks like you're really free! When are you planning to go back?"

"I haven't finished my vacation yet," Xu Hongdou said.

"Hey, honesty is the foundation of all virtues!" Xu Hongmi said, "I called your hotel, and they said you resigned. You actually dared to lie to Mom and Dad and say you were on three-month leave. I knew there was something wrong with you."

"I'm afraid my parents will worry if they find out I quit my job. I plan to tell them when I get back," Xu Hongdou said.

"Why did you resign?" Xu Hongmi asked.

Xu Hongdou was straightforward: "I don't want to do this anymore!"

"Then what do you want to do if you don't want to do it?" Xu Hongmi frowned slightly.

"Take a break!" Xu Hongdou said. "Even if I'm just a cog in a machine, I should still get some maintenance, right?"

Xu Hongmi asked repeatedly, "Have you rested enough? Have you taken care of yourself enough? What are your plans?"

"I've made up my mind, I'm not leaving," Xu Hongdou said.

"Not leaving?" Xu Hongmi frowned.

"Yes, I'm planning to take over the guesthouse that's under construction in the village," Xu Hongdou nodded.

"Take over a bed and breakfast and become the boss yourself? That sounds like a good idea. Do you have that much money? Are you confident you can run it well?" Xu Hongmi asked.

"It's not just me, it's my boyfriend too. We're going to invest together. He'll take the majority, I'll take the minority, and I'll be in charge of management," Xu Hongdou said.

"And what about your boyfriend? Is he still wandering around?" Xu Hongmi asked.

"Of course he's wherever I am," Xu Hongdou said.

"Fine, you've turned the prodigal son back to the right path," Xu Hongmi's words immediately displeased Xu Hongdou: "What do you mean by 'turning the prodigal son back to the right path'? Lin Yang is more outstanding, more excellent, and more mature than you think."

"So you're already protecting her? If she were really that outstanding, why would she be interested in you?" Xu Hongmi was furious.

"Please, am I that bad of a sister?" Xu Hongdou retorted.

Xu Hongmi said, "Over the years, how much money have you earned enough to buy even a few square meters of apartment in Beijing? Do you consider yourself very successful?"

Seeing Xu Hongdou's speechless expression, Xu Hongmi didn't bother to say anything more and instead said, "Since you think it's good, then make the most of it! By the way, I have an important video conference tonight, it will be very long, so I won't be able to have dinner with you guys. Please take care of her."

As she spoke, Xu Hongmi gestured to her daughter, Lingdang, who was sitting next to Xu Hongdou.

"Okay, I'll take her to eat and then send her back to you," Xu Hongdou nodded.

"No need," Xu Hongmi said, "I brought all my things for you since I slept with you that night!"

As she spoke, Xu Hongmi pushed the cute red suitcase next to her to Xu Hongdou.

"Sleep with me?" Xu Hongdou was a little helpless, but she couldn't refuse her niece who was clamoring to sleep with her.

In the courtyard, Lin Yang, having finished typing, checked his phone and found a lot of messages in the group. It turned out that Nana had posted a video saying that Xu Hongdou's older sister, Xu Hongmi, had arrived.

Xu Hongmi also sent a message to Lin Yang, asking him to prepare some snacks for Lingdang called "Cat Duli".

So, Lin Yang, who was leaving the courtyard to go to town, bought some snacks before going to the restaurant.

"Lingdang, call him Uncle," Xu Hongdou said to Lingdang as she beckoned Lin Yang over.

"Hello Uncle, my name is Lingdang," Lingdang said with a sweet smile, then asked curiously, "Uncle, are you my aunt's boyfriend?"

"Yes, you should call him Uncle-in-law," Lin Yang said with a smile, handing a cute wooden monkey carving to Lingdang. "Look, this is a gift your Uncle-in-law prepared for you. He carved it himself. Do you like it?"

"I love it! Uncle is so amazing!" Lingdang exclaimed with delight.

"There are also delicious snacks, your favorite cat treats," Lin Yang then took out the snack bag.

Seeing Lingdang's happy expression, Xu Hongdou also wore a happy smile.

"Since you like children so much, let's have one soon!" Lin Yang said with a smile.

"Great! I want a little brother!" Lingdang exclaimed excitedly.

Xu Hongdou, who had just glared at Lin Yang, immediately smiled and asked, "Why do you want a younger brother? Isn't a younger sister good enough?"

"Okay, then I'll have a little sister too," Lingdang said.

"Then your aunt will have to work a little harder," Lin Yang said.

Lin Yang, who had just sat down and ordered a glass of juice, casually asked Xu Hongdou, who was unpacking snacks for Lingdang, "Why did your sister suddenly come? Was she worried about you?"

"Who knows what's wrong with her! She probably knows I resigned and wants me to work in Shanghai," Xu Hongdou said.

"By the way, why didn't you go to Shanghai before, but stayed in Beijing instead? Were you hiding from your sister?" Lin Yang asked with a smile.

Xu Hongdou chuckled: "A little! The key is that I've been in Beijing for so long that I never thought about going to Shanghai, so I'll have to readjust."

"Did you tell her about your decision to stay here? What was her attitude?" Lin Yang asked.

"What other attitude could it be? A skeptical one!" Xu Hongdou shrugged. "In short, I neither support nor oppose it."

"That's good. As long as you don't object, it's fine. In any case, it's your decision to make. After all, it's your own life choice," Lin Yang said.

"By the way, your sister finally came all this way, where are you planning to take her and Lingdang tomorrow?" Lin Yang asked.

"Lingdang, where do you want to go tomorrow?" Xu Hongdou asked Lingdang with a smile.

"I want to ride a big horse," Bell said.

Lin Yang couldn't help but laugh when he heard this: "Horse riding? Okay, then your uncle will take you horse riding."

"No, Lingdang is too small, it's dangerous. My sister definitely won't agree," Xu Hongdou said, then added with a surprised expression, "I mean, aren't you afraid to meet my sister at all?"

"What's there to be afraid of about your sister? Is she a tiger?" Lin Yang said with amusement.

Xu Hongdou remained noncommittal: "She's much fiercer than a tiger!"
