Chapter 56 The Arrival of the Testers
"The examiner to assess your wizarding level has arrived. Shall we move downstairs together and greet this examiner?"
Russell and LeBron chatted for a long time, when the latter suddenly sensed something and then said with a smile.
The entire Wizard Tower is under LeBron's control; it's his home turf.
When Russell arrived at the Wizard Tower, LeBron immediately sensed the wizard's presence and went out to greet him.
When the testers came to his door, LeBron noticed it immediately.
"That's how it should be."
Russell nodded, got up, and went downstairs with LeBron.
LeBron summoned the Tower Spirit, and the ground rose up, enveloping Russell and his companion.
Unlike when they were slowly walking up the stairs and talking as they went, the two of them were carried directly by the tower spirit and arrived on the first floor in a flash.
When they arrived on the first floor, the inspector had just entered the wizard tower, and the two met face to face.
"My Lord Tester," LeBron said with a slight bow.
"Dear Inspector."
Bertrand Russell followed suit.
The examiner before them came from the Arcane Tower and was himself a genuine second-tier wizard.
Russell and LeBlanc were only first-tier wizards, so they naturally had to be treated with respect.
"Hmm, a bloodline wizard? Oh right, your name is Russell, right? The one Lord Andre thinks highly of."
The tester was a somewhat stern-looking young man. When he remembered Russell's identity, he forced a smile.
If he were to be favored by Lord Andre, a third-tier wizard, he might be taken in as a disciple, at which point his status would be vastly different from what it is now.
It's worth getting to know one or two of them.
"Sir, let's go upstairs and discuss this in detail. I'm very confident in my black tea skills."
LeBron smiled.
"Alright," the tester nodded.
The three of them went upstairs together, and after a brief chat, the tester's stern expression gradually relaxed.
Conversations became much smoother.
The job of a tester is quite leisurely, since not every day a wizard apprentice is promoted to wizard.
Even when this timescale is stretched to a year, the same holds true.
In particular, the four major factions divided the area into four regions, and the inspectors were only responsible for that region, as well as the members of the Arcane Tower.
The workload is even less.
The researcher had been engrossed in his research for a long time and had just received the notification before leaving his lab.
His language skills had slightly deteriorated due to prolonged disuse, but he quickly recovered during his conversations with Russell and LeBron.
"The black tea has a rich aroma, a lingering fragrance after tasting, and just the right amount of sweetness, even slightly mild, which better highlights the flavor of the black tea itself."
"As expected of LeBron, your tea-making skills are truly exceptional."
The tester exclaimed in admiration.
"So this is already considered a simple style?"
Russell smiled and took a sip of the freshly brewed black tea, only to feel a headache coming on from the overly sweet taste.
The three chatted idly, discussing various topics, and before long it was late at night. Then, sunlight streamed in, and it was already dawn.
For formal wizards, it's perfectly normal to chat casually for a day or two, given their lifespan.
Russell did not modify himself, but he had the blood of the Sea Heirs and his lifespan would far exceed that of the tester and LeBron.
"I enjoyed this chat, so I'll take my leave now," the tester said, taking the initiative to say goodbye.
"Farewell? Sir, what do you mean...?" Russell paused for a moment.
"It's just a formality."
The examiner's smile became smoother. "Whether a wizard apprentice can advance to wizardhood is something I can tell at a glance."
"I've been waiting here for a day and a night, just to get the approval process through."
"LeBron, could you please open a window?"
"No problem, Tester." LeBron smiled and opened a window on the top floor of the Wizard Tower.
A bird-like alchemical creation flew into the room, wearing a ring on its claw that emitted a faint ripple of runes.
It landed on the tester's shoulder, who then took off the ring and handed it to Russell.
"This is a storage artifact, a small congratulatory gift from the Wizarding Association to newly promoted wizards. It contains fifty tokens that can be used to travel within Dawn City."
"As for you, Russell, your identity information has been recorded by Dawn City, and you can freely enter and leave Dawn City."
"Remembered by the City of Dawn?" Russell's heart skipped a beat. Why would the word "remember" be used?
"Alright, I still have research to do, so I'll take my leave now," the tester said to the two.
"I'll see you out," LeBron said, standing up.
Russell also stood up.
"No need, just let the tower spirit escort me down. LeBron, you can talk to Russell about the new wizards." The examiner waved his hand and said.
LeBron then gave up, allowing the tower spirit to control the wizard tower, envelop the tester, and then descend to the first floor.
"Lord LeBlanc, here are thirty tokens."
Russell took out thirty wooden plaques with a soft white glow from his ring.
Besides the dozen or so wizard apprentices who came with Gus and Yafna, Russell also left behind a few tokens, which might come in handy later.
As for how to use the token, it's very simple: just carry the wooden plaque with you, and you can freely enter and exit the City of Dawn.
However, it cannot be stored in a storage artifact.
The storage artifact can be considered an independent space. Dawn City cannot sense the items inside the storage artifact, so naturally they cannot sense the existence of the token.
"Oh? Thirty dollars is a lot? Looks like those kids will be very happy this time."
LeBron smiled.
As a first-order wizard, he had lived for several hundred years, and he could indeed be called a "little guy" to some wizard apprentices who were at most a few decades old.
"The value of one token is about 1,000 contribution points, so 30 tokens would be 30,000 contribution points."
LeBron said.
Russell nodded. Thirty thousand contribution points equals thirty thousand Origin Stones!
With Schilling and Willis's belongings temporarily kept out of the public eye, this huge sum of money undoubtedly eased Russell's somewhat tight financial situation.
Of course, Russell can still use the Ring of Rilot, which originally belonged to Schilling, since Schilling gave it to him.
After Schilling's death, this item was naturally inherited by Schilling's only disciple, Russell.
As for the Lilott family?
It was just a small family that didn't even have a formal wizard and barely survived in the City of Dawn by relying on tokens.
It is said that even the number of wizard apprentices who join the four major powers is pitifully small.
Not to mention asking Russell for the Ring of Lillot.
Even the slightest hint from him would send the entire Rilot family rushing over, kneeling at Russell's feet like dogs.
