I was a general in South America

Chapter 47 You're Raising a Ghost

"Hold..!"

Alex clenched his fist and slammed it against the car door.

They weren't fools. After going over the accounts with Ronan... although they still had some hope, they understood that the other party most likely knew that Ronan was the murderer.

That damn scoundrel...

If he weren't my own brother, I would kill him eight hundred times over without hesitation.

Knowing there would be risks in meeting Lucas, Alex had no choice but to go...

He didn't have much contact with Lucas, but that one time was enough to leave a deep impression. If Ronan didn't go, he could make excuses for him, but if he didn't go, Lucas would immediately realize that everything had been exposed.

Leaving Manizales temporarily, or going into hiding... are safer options.

But Ronan can leave, but he can't!

The gold mine must be kept under control; without him overseeing things in Manizales, there is a fear of even greater unforeseen circumstances.

That was the opportunity for the Ainar family to rise to power...

Even if he has to go to war with Lucas in the end, Alex will not give up.

From humble beginnings in the slums to where they are today, the Einar brothers may seem to outsiders as incredibly successful... but in reality, every day is like walking on thin ice, with no one knowing what tomorrow will bring.

Alex had seen too many drug lords who were content with their current situation, and none of them died with dignity.

To say nothing of the distant past, Pablo Escobar could destroy everything the North Valley Group could have done with just a word.

Past enemies would pounce on the Ainar brothers like sharks smelling blood, tearing them apart and devouring them alive without hesitation.

Alex suddenly understood why Lucas's attitude was so firm.

Maybe it's all the same: if you don't go in, you die!

Ronan found the prostitute and killed her, not to hide it from Lucas...

He knew that someone like Lucas wouldn't care about evidence. He did this in case things took a turn for the better and the woman didn't fully recognize Ronan.

Don't let any possibility slip by... what seems impossible may become the only chance in the end.

Continuing to meet with Lucas was also a way to buy time for Ronan to leave...

With his brother gone, Alex is determined to fight Lucas to the bitter end, no matter what happens.

Moreover, he still has one last bargaining chip...

We won't lose!

The car drove into Manizales, and Alex picked up his phone and made a call.

Beep beep beep...

An impatient voice quickly came from the other end of the phone.

"Feed..."

"Hey, Lieutenant Javier, long time no see."

"It's you, Ainar? What do you want from me? Are you here to laugh at me?"

"No, Mr. Javier... I'm sorry about that day, but Lucas is our common enemy, isn't he?"

Alex answered enthusiastically, as if nothing had happened that day.

However, the tone on the other end of the phone rose slightly, clearly conveying dissatisfaction and anger.

"What the hell do you want...?"

"I hope Mr. Havel can help me; I'd like to speak with General Haior on the phone..."

There was silence on the other end of the phone, but Alex wasn't in a hurry.

Half a minute...

Why should I help you...?

Hearing the questioning on the other end of the phone, Alex chuckled and softly uttered two words: "Gold mine."

......

"Go find that woman."

Lucas sat in the car and gave instructions to Moreno in the passenger seat.

After reviewing the events in his mind several times, he realized that the assassins Ronan Einar sent arrived around the same time the woman left.

Since Ronan had planned the suicide truck, he certainly didn't arrive on short notice; he had been staking out the police station entrance for a long time.

According to Viana's testimony, Ronan met her in the bathroom that day.

It's very likely that Ronan saw Viana when she left.

Even if she's a prostitute, she's still a useful one...

They provided crucial clues that saved her life.

"What about your safety later...?" Moreno hesitated for a moment, then tentatively suggested, "We can send Herrera to handle this; he's more familiar with Manizales."

Normally, Moreno would say there's no problem.

Manizales's top police dog has an unquestionable sense of smell, but today is a little different.

Lucas shook his head: "Today we're meeting Alex. With Herrera here... even if they wanted to make a move, they'd have to consider Derek. And with the rapid response team by my side, the danger isn't too great."

"The reason we're sending you isn't just to find Viana, but more importantly, because we have a traitor in our team."

"Raising ghosts?"

Moreno's expression turned serious upon hearing this... but he was also somewhat incredulous. If it hadn't come from Lucas, he would have slapped him across the face twice.

Lucas, while at the camp, generally didn't interfere with any affairs except distributing money; Moreno took care of everything else.

People say there's a ghost in the army, even the temporarily recruited soldiers, they all say he's blind...!

"You'll take the temporary team with you later. Remember not to reveal yourselves. Observe their performance and let me know when you come back."

Lucas waved his hand, seeing Gigi getting nervous.

"Don't be so nervous, I'm just guessing, I can't be sure yet."

Normally, the regular members of the rapid response team would follow Lucas around, and apart from a telephone in his room, there were no other communication devices in the camp.

Lucas only came to the Cato branch today after receiving a message from Viana.

Ronan couldn't possibly have been waiting so precisely, so there's only one possibility: someone informed Ronan that he was coming.

Since the soldiers in the barracks had no opportunity to leak information, the only option was to assign temporary field units to assist the police station.

They had access to sources and were able to pass the information on to Ronan.

"I'll do as you say. I'll find that woman as soon as possible and then go to the police station to support you."

Don't fucking let me find you...

I'll turn you from a mole into a real mole...!

.....

Soon, the convoy arrived at the police station building.

The three musketeers of Manizales were waiting at the door. Lucas got out of the car and saw this scene, and he was a little puzzled.

He clearly only notified Drake, so how come the other two came too?

"Lieutenant Lucas, I just heard about the bombing in front of the police station, so I came right away..."

"Lieutenant, me too... For a heinous case like this, I will definitely report it to the council, and the perpetrator must be severely punished...!"

Good grief, they've come over to pledge their loyalty.

Joshua and Senator Reed exchanged a glance, both able to see the helplessness in each other's hearts.

I'm so scared!

If Lucas were to target them, they would be severely injured, if not killed.

"Thank you both for your concern, but let's put that aside for now. Why hasn't Mr. Alex Ennar arrived yet?"

His smile was unsettling...

During the party, he also told me not to worry, not to be nervous...!

Upon hearing the question, all eyes turned to Drake...

Herrera noticed that his father-in-law wasn't very enthusiastic, so he quickly pointed with his finger.

Old man, be more proactive. You'll only learn to be enthusiastic when a gun's pointed at your head.

"Alex will be here soon, let's go inside..."
