Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins

Chapter 25 It's up to you, Monkey King!

"How is he?" Charles asked.

"He's still not awake, but his head isn't hot anymore," the white-haired man said, putting down the wooden bowl.

Nine Fingers lay on the ground, unconscious. His left hand was gone from the upper arm down, the cut wrapped in a strip of cloth, from which blood seeped.

Charles nodded. After driving away the Direclaw Bear, he immediately bestowed the God's Blessing upon his subordinates, then applied herbal bandages, finally saving their lives. However, the goblins had no priests and no way to perform any advanced magic like limb replantation.

"If only someone knew healing spells, or at least a few healing potions," Charles sighed, knowing that this was a luxury for goblins.

"Take good care of him," he said before leaving the cave.

"Be careful." The white-haired man caught up with Xia Er, who nodded and led his men to take the tools and leave the cave.

Around noon, Charles arrived at his destination with his men.

In front of the rustling forest, several goblins looked up at the 30-meter-high tree canopy.

A straight tree trunk stood before them, too thick for one person to encircle. It would be virtually impossible for a goblin to climb it without tools, and Shire had none at the moment.

"The threat of the Deinonychus is imminent, and we must replenish our weapons as soon as possible. If everyone has a few Bang Bang Fruits, we won't be afraid of the Deinonychus for the time being." Charles tapped the thick tree trunk. "Put it down."

A goblin dropped the pack on its back onto the ground. The contents inside moved around and made "whimpering" sounds, and then a furry head popped out.

A monkey, whose breed Shire didn't know, but he needed it to climb the tree today.

Goblins hunt in the forest and often encounter monkeys, these annoying creatures that live in the treetops, jumping around, and occasionally come down to the ground to forage for food.

Goblins don't eat monkeys. Firstly, monkeys don't have much meat and are hard to catch. Secondly, monkeys are very vengeful. If you catch one a few times, the entire goblin tribe will remember you and attack you whenever you pass through their territory.

Early in the morning, Xia Er led his men to the monkeys' territory and set up a trap: a rope snare and a small wicker cage, with plenty of wild fruit inside.

They wait for the monkey to reach out and grab it, but as soon as it does, its paw will be caught in the rope.

Sure enough, they successfully caught a large monkey.

Several goblins pulled the monkey out of the bundle, untied the ropes binding its limbs, and then grabbed the monkey's limbs and straightened them. Charles looked at the monkey with its innocent little eyes in front of him, smiled, wrapped one end of the rope around the monkey and secured it, then picked up the monkey and threw it into a tree, "It's up to you, Great Sage."

Suddenly free, the monkey scrambled up the tree. After climbing nearly 10 meters, it stopped, looked down at the goblin on the ground, and cried out, "Woo-hoo!"

"You're mocking us, aren't you?" Charles laughed, as he and his men picked up things from the ground and threw them at the monkey, which then climbed a little further up.

Charles looked up at the monkey. "It's too far to throw it. This monkey is too clever. I'm not climbing anymore."

He turned and ordered, "Red Eyes, throw something at it." As the strongest person in the group, Red Eyes was the only one who could help.

"Yes, Chief." Red Eyes nodded, then took something out of the bag and threw it forcefully at the monkey in the tree.

"Boom."

After throwing it, he raised his head and pouted, looking around at the goblins in front of him with an air of smug satisfaction, as if to say, "How about it? You still need me, right?" and "Leader, please praise me!"

"I threw out the last 'Bang Bang Fruit' for you." Charles slapped his face. "I told you to scare it away, not blow it up!"

"We have to start all over again." Charles regretted that if they caught too many monkeys, they wouldn't be so easily fooled.

With a whoosh, the rope in front of him was pulled up repeatedly, and Charles immediately looked up to check.

"Great, we didn't kill it, but we scared the monkey instead."

The monkey was startled by the sound of the explosion and frantically climbed upwards, quickly disappearing into the canopy of the banging tree.

"Dig holes, keep making traps," Charles ordered.

Next, set another trap to lure the monkey down. This way, the rope will be looped around the tree once, and the goblin can then use the rope to climb the tree.

The trap was quickly set up, and a group of goblins hid to the side, all watching the monkey and waiting for him to come down.

"Chirp, chirp," the sounds of insects echoed through the woods, occasionally punctuated by "bang" explosions.

The goblins stood under the tree watching the monkeys leaping about in the canopy.

"Chirp, chirp," the insects continued to chirp.

The goblins sat on the ground, looking up at the monkeys in the treetops.

"Chirp chirp," two insects flew together, one climbing onto the other's back.

The goblins lay on the ground, idly picking at their toes.

"Great Sage, quickly stop your supernatural powers!" Xia Er said with a sullen face, "Why don't you come down already?"

But the monkeys ignored them and continued to huddle in the treetops.

Just as Charles was getting impatient and preparing to leave with his men, the monkey plucked a tumble fruit from a branch.

It was captured this morning, and it was terrified and hungry by now.

The monkey held the dark-colored fruit, looked it over a few times, then bared its teeth, stuffed it into its mouth, and bit it off forcefully with its canines.

"Bang!" An explosion rang out, and the monkey fell directly from the treetop.

The explosions on the tree canopy also affected the nearby fruit, with seven or eight explosions in a row.

Once the noise subsided, Xia Er led his men forward, and the monkey was already standing upright.

Charles tugged on the rope; it was secure. "Come here."

He summoned a short goblin, tied the end of the rope to him, and then tied an extra rope around him.

Then everyone pulled the rope together, and the goblin was pulled up to the treetop like he was being suspended by wires.

A few minutes later, they slowly put him down.

"Leader." The goblin handed over a package containing a dozen or so dark-colored, ripe berries.

"Success! We can start mass-producing grenades now!" Charles's eyes lit up.

"What if we peeled off another thin layer of sheet metal?" He picked up a melon-sized fruit, "and there would be smoke when it exploded. What if we put an oil layer on top of that..."

Charles felt he had found an upgrade plan for the guzzling fruit: "Go back and draw up the plans, then have John find someone to make them."

Previously, dealing with the Devilclaw Bear only involved explosions and didn't do much damage, but adding shrapnel or incineration effects would definitely give the Devilclaw Bear a run for its money.

From now on, tie rope ladders to each of the gulang trees so that it will be easier for goblins to climb up and down the trees. This large forest can reliably produce gulang fruit for them.

He originally intended for Nine Fingers to handle this matter, but his loyal subordinate was severely injured by the Devilclaw Bear and was still unconscious, so Charles had to bring his own men to deal with it.

"We don't have enough talent," he lamented.

We can only do our best to seize the time and collect enough fruit before winter arrives to deal with the impending danger.

"Let's go, let's continue catching monkeys," Charles ordered his men.

The group headed straight for the monkeys' lair.
