Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins

Chapter 328 Feathered Serpent God

In the pre-dawn night sky, the darkness was inky, and a giant red python, flashing with lightning, coiled back and forth in the air.

Its hissing sound echoed through the sky, drilling into the ears like an electric drill, making people feel extremely uncomfortable.

"Quetzalcoatl must have sensed the change in our faith," the high priest said, looking up at the sky. "That's why it awoke from hibernation."

"Faith? This thing can sense your hearts?" While urging his men to leave quickly, Charles looked up at the enraged Feathered Serpent God. Suddenly, he remembered something. "You said before that a batch of goblins is driven out of the kingdom every now and then. So, what's the maximum number of goblins that can be kept in this kingdom?"

5000.

"So, this flying serpent can only sense the minds of 5000 goblins," Sharl said, frowning. "But didn't you leave 2000 goblins behind?"

"Look at them," the high priest said, pointing to the fleeing goblins. "If you hadn't set up those cauldrons, they probably wouldn't have wavered so quickly."

Charles looked at the goblins of the Feathered Serpent Kingdom. Even as they fled, they clung tightly to their wooden bowls. Even when the hot forest broth scalded their bodies, they just grinned and gritted their teeth as they ran, afraid of spilling too much food. Meanwhile, the goblins who were still in line and hadn't received any broth were now gathered around the large pot, holding their wooden bowls. Although they were no longer in line, these guys didn't overturn the pot. They were just chattering and shouting, trying to catch the food being poured out of the large ladle as soon as possible.

White Hair didn't leave. Even though Charles had specifically told her at the start of the operation that if anything changed, she shouldn't worry about anything and should turn around and run immediately, she was still standing in front of the bubbling pot, quickly scooping up a spoonful of forest soup and smashing it into a wooden bowl.

The large iron ladle was almost blurred from being swung around, but the white-haired woman continued her movements, saying, "Yours is done, it's your turn. Take it and hurry up, next bowl."

"He's such a worry," Charles sighed and shook his head.

"These huge cauldrons have caused the goblins in the long queue to become uneasy. Such a large-scale change will surely disturb the sleeping Quetzalcoatl." The high priest gripped his bone staff and slammed it heavily on the ground. "I should have known things would turn out this way."

As he spoke, he waved his hand and said anxiously, "Chief, please leave quickly. I will lead the other goblins to stop Quetzalcoatl."

"You guys?" Charles chuckled, "One lightning bolt and you're all finished."

After saying that, he took out a crossbow from his back waist. "Red Eye, go and call Cao Cao over. You and he take the men and guard this place. The rest of you, evacuate quickly."

After saying that, Charles turned and ran towards the center of the battlefield, grabbing the wooden-framed mirror he was carrying on his back as he ran.

…………

In the air, the feathered serpent tumbled and spewed lightning at its body. A dozen skeleton warriors clung tightly to the giant serpent's scales, plunging their weapons into the gaps in the red scales while gripping them tightly, trying to avoid being thrown off by the feathered serpent.

With a "sizzle," a bolt of lightning flashed, and several skeleton warriors were struck by lightning and torn to pieces, falling from the sky to the ground.

The remaining skeleton warriors plunged their weapons deep into the feathered serpent's body, churning it violently. Dark red serpent blood flowed from the gaps in its scales, causing the feathered serpent to writhe even more frantically.

It swung its tail violently in the air, trying to get rid of these "possessed bones," but the effect was limited, and four skeleton warriors still clung tightly to its body.

Suddenly, the feathered serpent god seemed to remember something. It flapped its wings and slammed into the ground with a loud "boom," kicking up a cloud of dust.

Then, Quetzalcoatl rolled his body back and forth on the ground, intending to crush the remaining skeleton warriors with this action.

The sound of "crashing" continued, and in the smoke and dust, the figure of the Feathered Serpent God was like the largest tree trunk lying on the ground, and the surrounding ruins collapsed under its impact.

Soon, the remaining skeleton warriors were crushed into pieces.

Seeing that the troublesome skeletons had been dealt with, the feathered serpent god slowly coiled up its body, raised its head, flicked its tongue, and stared intently at the goblins fleeing in panic in the distance.

"Foolish goblins, I sheltered you, and you dare to betray me!" Quetzalcoatl's furious voice rang out, its eyes flashing with electricity, its wings opening again, as if it would soar into the sky once more in the next second.

"You only used them." A voice rang out from afar, drawing Quetzalcoatl's attention.

It was a tiny goblin, dressed in ridiculous clothes, holding something that looked like a "toy".

"You are not my follower," Quetzalcoatl glanced at Shire in the distance, "Interesting, these goblins have actually learned to collude with outside groups."

"I am the goblin who blasphemed you," Ciel said, spreading his arms wide with a smile. "How about that? Surprised? Unexpected?"

"It's you?" Quetzalcoatl raised his head, then said nothing, but suddenly spat out a bolt of lightning in the direction of Ciel.

The lightning bolt, like a multi-pronged fork, covered the ground in the blink of an eye. Smoke and gravel mixed with crackling sounds quickly filled the air, and a burnt smell spread, sending chills down one's spine.

Charles took a few steps back. He had noticed the range of Quetzalcoatl's lightning from the beginning and estimated that he was standing far away, but the destructive effect of the forked lightning still made him feel uneasy.

"Luckily I was standing far enough away. If I had been hit, I probably would have been blown to pieces." Charles gripped the object in his hand tightly, a few drops of sweat sliding down his forehead.

Seeing that the lightning had missed, Quetzalcoatl lowered its head slightly in annoyance, then suddenly lunged forward, its huge mouth agape as it charged toward the goblin, about to swallow him whole.

"Pazzani!" Charles shouted as he saw the feathered serpent charging towards them.

Immediately afterwards, Prince Naga, who was hiding in the distance, poured water magic into the runeword Winter.

With a "whoosh," the square was instantly frozen, and the debris floating in the air turned into ice shards and fell down. The previously unpleasant burnt smell was blown away by the cold wind, and a huge ice sculpture stood in the center amidst the white mist.

The feathered serpent god was covered in a layer of solid ice. Its entire body was slithering on the ground, with only its head raised. The sharp teeth on its huge mouth gleamed with a cold, chilling light in the ice.

Charles surveyed the "ice rink" before him, a sense of lingering fear creeping in. Not far away, the feathered serpent god had been transformed into an ice sculpture, its red body appearing and disappearing in the icy water, looking rather impressive.

"Hopefully this will trap it." Charles slowly exhaled. His understanding of runic language abilities was limited. He had only used it to deal with the petrified lizards before, but the Feathered Serpent God was much more powerful than the petrified lizards. He wasn't very confident that he could freeze the god.

But judging from the current situation, it seems to be working well.

Charles glanced at Pazzani, who was "swimming" toward him not far away. The Naga prince looked delighted, as if he was very satisfied with the ice magic circle he had activated.

"Brother," he shouted, but before he could finish, Charles raised his hand to interrupt him.

With a hiss, a small sound rang out. Charles frowned and looked at Quetzalcoatl. Then his eyes widened. Beneath the solid ice, several bolts of lightning "flowed" on the surface of Quetzalcoatl's red body. The flashing electric light shone through the ice, forcing Charles to squint.

Then, with a loud "boom," countless ice shards scattered and flew everywhere, white mist rose up, and Xia Er was hit in several places by the ice shards.

"The Naga were also involved." Quetzalcoatl, his body crackling with electricity, slowly raised his head.

Charles struggled to his feet. Thanks to his leather armor and the Blessing of the Mother Tree, the ice shards had only limited effect on him. However, a tear in his leather trench coat left him wondering if it would affect his invisibility. He had initially planned that if Quetzalcoatl was too ferocious, he could grab the small magic crystal at the collar of his trench coat to become invisible, then use a speed spell and a speed scroll to escape. But now, Charles wasn't sure how successful he was at that.

The Feathered Serpent God ignored Sharl for the time being, and instead observed Pazzani with great interest. He had also been hit by the shattered ice, but was not seriously injured. Now, the Naga prince stood proudly in front of the Feathered Serpent. He slowly extended his left hand, which was clenched into a fist, and then smiled. His four fleshy whiskers twitched with the smile.

One of his middle fingers stood up, but because of the webbing between his fingers, his fist-making motion didn't look very smooth.

Quetzalcoatl raised its head. Even if it didn't know what this meant, it could see the contempt in the other's eyes. Then it flicked its tongue, white lightning flashing around its mouth.

With a "sizzle," a flash of lightning streaked across the sky, and Pazzani was blasted away by the lightning. His body flew backward and disappeared into the dark night.

"Pazzani!" Charles shouted, but it was no use. He could only pick up the mirror in his hand. Although the mirror was broken, it still could not stop him from doing what he was about to do. "Forest God, help me, the Feathered Serpent God is too powerful."

He shouted loudly, but all he could see in the mirror was an anxious reflection, a pitiful sight of himself cut into several pieces by the cracks.

"Help my people, perhaps you can find what you're looking for here," Charles continued to call out, but the image in the mirror remained unchanged. Yet Charles knew... Right here, on his territory map, that mark is clearly displayed.

"I almost forgot about you." Upon hearing Ciel's shout, the Feathered Serpent God didn't even turn his head, but instead whipped his tail.

With a "bang," Charles was struck by the snake's tail, which was as thick as a tree trunk. Time seemed to stand still for a moment. He saw the mirror in his hand shatter, and countless shards of glass scattered in the air. Then, he felt a sweet taste in his throat, as if blood was gushing up.

"It hurts a little." A thought flashed through his mind, and then with a bang, he was flung away by the snake's tail, crashing into a tree trunk not far away, his limbs hanging limply at his sides.

…………

In the darkness, Charles shook his head. He heard an old voice say, "It's not time yet."

"Not the right time? What do you mean?" Charles asked.

But in the endless darkness, no sound rang out again; he could only hear echoes.

"What's going on?" Charles felt a pain in his head. He reached up to hold his head and then suddenly opened his eyes.

"I'm still alive?" He looked at his hands and body. The attack had destroyed his equipment and even tore his clothes.

"This is... Little John's [Heart of the Warrior] has taken effect." Charles looked at the panel and saw that [Heart of the Warrior] had entered its cooldown period. The cooldown time for this ability was now only 25 days. It was thanks to it that he had just blocked the attack from the Feathered Serpent God.

"Still so reliable, not even injured." Charles quickly got up. The feathered serpent god not far away seemed to ignore him. It must have been very confident in its tail whip just now, convinced that he was dead.

"What do we do now..." Many thoughts flashed through Charles's mind. Those skeleton warriors must have suffered heavy casualties, and Pazzani's fate was unknown. He didn't know how many of his men had retreated.

Just as Charles was quickly considering his next move, Quetzalcoatl raised its head again, and lightning crackled from the gaps in each of its scales. Then, the lightning turned red in an instant, and to Charles's astonishment, the red liquid flowed out and quickly coalesced into two entities on the ground.

"This is the clone skill that Cao Cao learned." The clone skill that the troll Cao Cao mastered immediately came to mind. The difference is that the clone of the feathered serpent god is also a giant python with wings, and there are two of them.

"What is it going to do?" As Charles shouted, the two fel-powered serpent clones charged directly at the goblin that had not yet left. Their massive bodies were not slow at all, and they reached the goblin in just a few breaths.

Screams rang out as Charles watched goblins being blasted into the air; the impacts were so intense that they were unlikely to survive.

"My people!" he cried out, and without thinking, he rose and charged toward Quetzalcoatl.

Unfortunately, the Feathered Serpent God paid no attention to Sharl. It raised its head and flicked its tongue, as if enjoying the screams of the goblins.

The continuous cries made Charles frown. He glanced at the shards of mirror on the ground, and in each shard, he could see his anxious face.

" "I know you're here, and I order you to come out right now!" Charles shouted, disregarding everything else.

At that moment, he did not notice that behind him, two white beams of light stretched out to the side, like a pair of shining wings. In the white light, a pair of black pupils slowly opened, their gaze sweeping directly over the shards of mirror on the ground.

With a "whoosh," a figure swelled up from a fragment like an inflating balloon, quickly transforming into Ciel's appearance.

"What do you need?" Speaking cautiously, she bowed slightly towards the white "wings" behind Charles.

"Kill Quetzalcoatl," Charles said.
