Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins

"Little goblin, you're different." Smoke face drifted, voice slightly surprised.

"Who are you?" Charles asked warily.

"You can even speak the Common Language, that's interesting. If you jump into the pit now, I won't kill you."

"Jump in and become food for the Deinonychus?" Ciel scoffed.

Another visible vortex of air swept rapidly outwards, causing the goblins lying on the ground to tremble in pain.

The burning sensation on his thumb told Ciel that the mental blast could not harm him.

He shouted, "What other skills do you have?"

The smoke blurred her face, then a woman's voice, slightly annoyed, said, "Don't think you can do anything with just a little magic gadget."

"Is that so?" Charles smirked and tossed the fruit in his hand into the deep pit.

"Bang!" An explosion rang out, followed by another pitiful howl from the Deinonychus.

"How dare you..." the smoke-faced man roared.

"You dare to blow up your pet? I've done it, how about it?" Charles looked at Smokeface with a leisurely air.

The woman's voice was somewhat exasperated: "I'm going to kill all your men."

"Go ahead, we goblins are worthless anyway. If they all die, new goblins will appear. But I promise," Sharl roared through gritted teeth, "I will skin the Direclaw Bear, cut off its dog head, and stick it at the entrance of my burrow, so that all the goblins can see it and remember it."

"You are nothing but an ant..." the woman's voice was filled with rage.

"Yes, it's worth it for us ants to exchange for a mid-level magical beast, the Terrorclaw Bear."

The smoke-faced creature swayed and grew several times larger. It roared angrily, "Do you know what price you'll pay for messing with me? You mere goblin dares to challenge me? I've killed countless green dwarves. You only deserve to be crushed to death by my finger, crushed to death."

"How dare you hurt my pet! I'll make you..."

"Bang!" Xia Er ignored the smoke face and threw another grenade. The aftershock of the explosion even affected the white smoke, causing the smoke face to ripple several times.

"Aww." The Deinonychus groaned weakly, seemingly on its last legs.

"Stop! That's my life's work!" Yanmian said angrily.

"Your hard work is a load of rubbish!" Charles cursed. "Your hard work has been wandering around in the forest, and who knows how many goblins or adventurers it has already devoured."

"They're all ants, only fit to be food for my pets." The smoke-faced figure drifted around, seemingly scoffing at Charles's words.

Charles grabbed a fruit and was about to throw it into the pit.

"Stop, goblin! Tell me, what do you want?" Smoky Face's tone softened slightly. "I can give you many things—money, magical items, anything."

"I want it dead," Charles shouted, pointing into the pit. "And you'd better get down here; I hate looking up at people."

"Goblin, do you know who you're talking to?" Smoky Face said angrily.

"Didn't your family give you a name?" Charles scoffed loudly. "Or do you not even know who you are?"

"Shut up, shut up." The smoke-faced man seemed to have been triggered by something and began to twist and writhe, his voice becoming hysterical. Charles felt that somewhere there must be a woman smashing things.

"Goblin, you asked for this. I will find you and cut you into pieces to throw to the wild dogs on the roadside."

"Didn't your dad tell you that talking is useless when you're fighting?" Charles threw another grenade fruit. "Boom!" He could barely hear the Deinonychus's voice anymore.

"I'm going to kill you, you just wait." The smoke rose and dissipated, and the voice gradually faded.

"Welcome anytime," Charles waved and bowed, making a curtain call gesture. "The forest stage is here; come and do whatever you need."

Seeing that the white smoke had completely dissipated, he looked down at the ring on his thumb. The ring, which had been faintly glowing green, had returned to normal. Then, he tiptoed and risked looking into the deep pit.

The pit was quiet. The Deinonychus had been corroded into a bloody, muddy mess, and the three slimes were all reduced to their cores.

Having achieved his goal, Charles immediately found the package, took out all the healing potions, and gave each of his limp subordinates a few mouthfuls.

After they finished drinking, they got up from the ground a while later, groaning and groaning.

"Leader, are we alive?" Red-eyed looked around at everyone, his tone incredulous.

"Yes, we're alive. The enemy has been driven away. We've won," Charles said calmly.

"We won?" Red-eyed paused for two seconds, then exclaimed joyfully, "We won!"

As he shouted, more and more goblins began to cheer. Successfully hunting this forest overlord boosted the goblins' confidence. Sharl even felt that they would be willing to lead these dozens of goblins to attack Golden Flower City now.

"Alright, call me again later." Xia Er kicked Red Eyes, but almost lost his balance. The confrontation with Smoke Face had really made him nervous.

"Find a rope and lower me down into the pit," he ordered his men.

A group of goblins immediately sprang into action, and soon they had made a rope knot and lowered Shire into the deep pit.

He looked around the pit, which was covered in signs of corrosion. One side of the pit wall had been dug out to a depth of more than half a meter. If the third slime hadn't been poured in in time, the pit wall might have collapsed, and the consequences would have been unimaginable.

Charles let out a long breath; the smell in the pit was indescribable. Then he picked up a shovel and began to dig into the carcass of the Deinonychus.

The pile of flesh was almost completely devoid of anything; the fur had been corroded away. He searched carefully and soon pulled out a red crystal the size of an adult's fist.

"A mid-level beast core." Charles smiled broadly. "And it's a bit larger than the ones I saw in Golden Flower City before."

He used a shovel to poke at the beast core, held it up to his eyes, and saw that the red crystal surface was reflective, and something seemed to be flowing inside.

"I can hand it in now." Xia Er tossed the beast core into the small bag and continued searching.

The strong smell of blood and burnt flesh filled the air, causing Charles to frown. He searched carefully and finally found only 10 long toenails, each over 30 centimeters long and still attached to the finger bones.

These 10 toenails are from the forelimb claws of the Deinonychus. They are jet black and shiny. Although they are covered with a lot of blood, flesh and dirt, they are still intact after being "baptized" by slime acid, which proves that they are indeed good stuff.

"We can make a few daggers." Charles grabbed the finger bone, rubbed the toenail on the dirt a few times, and wiped away the bloodstains.

Finally, seeing that there was nothing else that could be used, he was pulled up carrying the somewhat damaged bear head.

"Go back first, we'll clean up tomorrow," Charles instructed his men. "Don't waste this flesh and blood; it can be used to feed slimes."

A group of goblins, carrying a bear's head, happily skipped home.

Just after the goblins had gone far away, several old bones in the pit began to roll on their own, gathered together, and then shook and kept changing position.

Soon, a broken human hand bone was pieced together. Then, the five fingers of the hand bone began to twitch irregularly. A few seconds later, the finger bones pushed themselves up, and the entire hand bone stood up.

Then it used its five fingers as limbs and quickly climbed up the pit.

Upon reaching the pit's edge, the hand bone swayed back and forth, seemingly searching for something. A moment later, it followed the goblin.
