Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins
Chapter 50 You're no better either [Please read, add to your favorites, and recommend!]
The stone chamber was less than 3 meters high. The giant insect struggled to raise its head, and its four white tentacles hissed.
Using the torch dropped by the goblin, Sharl saw that the giant worm had many cracks on its body, from which white fluid was flowing out.
At that moment, the dozens of brain-eating monsters that had been wandering around the stone chamber rushed towards the giant worm as if a start button had been pressed.
"Pfft!" Several brain-eating monsters jumped onto the giant insect's body, gripped the bristles firmly with their claws, and plunged their needle-like mouthparts into the flesh.
Xia Er watched as the red bodies of the brain-eating monsters swelled and contracted, seemingly sucking the white fluid from the giant worm's body.
Soon, more brain-eating monsters jumped onto the giant worm, stabbing its mouthparts into its body, causing the worm to writhe in pain within the stone chamber.
"Everyone, get out of here first." Charles immediately ordered his men to leave the stone chamber.
The giant red worm hissed in pain, slamming its body against the stone wall with muffled thuds. Each time it rolled and thrashed, several brain-eating monsters were smashed into a pool of red and white flesh, but many more brain-eating monsters clung tightly to the giant worm, greedily sucking its flesh.
The giant worm was covered in brain-eating monsters, like dozens of red tumors. Even if it was thrown away, these "tumors" would immediately rush back to the giant worm.
"This thing is really fierce." Charles looked at the rolling giant worm and couldn't help but sigh. If the team were attacked by it, there would definitely be heavy casualties.
Gradually, the giant worm's struggles weakened, and its four tentacles trembled listlessly. It seemed unable to withstand the onslaught of so many brain-eating monsters.
"Red Eyes, come here." Charles called his subordinate over, pointing to the giant insect's four tentacles. "Find a way to cut them off."
Charles observed that this giant insect had no eyes and must have been searching for prey using its antennae. Now that it was too weak to pose a threat, it was the perfect opportunity to perform a "surgical operation" on it.
Red Eye drew his longsword and charged forward without a word. With a few "whoosh" sounds, he swept and cut off the tentacles. The giant insect was in pain and frantically swung its four hook-shaped mouthparts, but it only killed a few brain-eating monsters and had no way to deal with Red Eye, who had already rolled away.
A moment later, the giant insect's head collapsed to the ground with a "thud" and remained motionless. By the light of the fire, Xia Er could see that apart from its muscles still twitching, it had no other reaction.
"He's almost dead." Charles slipped into the stone chamber, slowly approaching along the wall.
【Name: Heart-Stealing Giant Insect (Large)】
[Race: Monster]
[Danger Level: 11, Slightly Dangerous]
[Personality: Ruthless]
Xia Er brought up the giant insect's panel to check.
"This is just a juvenile," he said, frowning.
If a juvenile can grow into a giant python, Xia Er dared not imagine what it would be like as an adult.
Not long after, the panel slowly faded and disappeared, and the giant insect was completely dead.
The brain-eating monster remained lying on the corpse, greedily sucking, not letting go of the last bit of juice.
With the crisis averted, Charles ordered his men to re-enter the fortress. This time, he decided to make some arrangements. "Bucktooth, you take 30 goblins and stay here. The rest of you come in with me."
Bucktooth chose some of the thin and weak goblins to stay in the stone chamber.
The rest followed Charles into the second stone chamber, each of them instinctively picking up a brain-eating monster as if it were a red cat.
Unbeknownst to all the goblins, a gray-black human hand bone silently followed the group and slipped into the fortress.
…………
Sharl divided the goblins into two groups, walking in the middle to ensure the brain-eating monsters wouldn't get too close.
At the same time, he also had his men drop a lot of clattering fruit along the way. If there were any more mind-stealing giant worms, then it would be the same old method, just hoping that the brain-devouring monster wouldn't eat too much.
The group returned to the entrance of the two-story stone house, where they were surprised to find the escaped mutated goblin already waiting.
The other person nodded and bowed obsequiously, seemingly showing even greater respect to him.
Xia Er felt that this mutated goblin had the potential to be a "waiter," with its enthusiastic and attentive service and its nimble escape speed; all it lacked was the white tablecloth at its waist and the melon-shaped hat on its head.
They walked until they reached the wooden door that the giant insect had smashed through, and Charles peered inside.
Inside was a stone chamber, smaller than the previous one, which he estimated to be only about 300 square meters. The chamber was somewhat cluttered, and the walls were covered with shocking scratches left by giant claws.
"Is this the giant insect's lair?" He cautiously walked in.
The waiter kept bending over and waving his hands, trying to stop Ciel from entering, but to no avail.
"If this stone chamber is cleaned properly, it can house quite a few goblins." Sharl is growing to like this fortress more and more. It's spacious, there's no need to worry about sun or rain, and most importantly, it's quite cool and not damp at all.
"Squeak, squeak," a black mouse scurried along the base of the wall.
Ignoring the rats, Ciel used the blue glow of the mushrooms to reach the end of the stone chamber, where he discovered some strange objects on the ground.
These are several grayish-white, disc-shaped objects with a round hole in the center. They feel like bones to the touch, and there are patches of dried liquid around the discs.
"Leftover bones?" He picked one up to examine it. "It looks like a large straw hat."
"Come here, come here." A voice rang in his mind, and Charles was startled, almost throwing off his straw hat.
"Who are you?" he asked in his mind.
Immediately afterwards, several voices echoed in his mind: "Come to the corner."
"Not just one person?" Charles looked around, trying to find the source of the voice.
"Come quickly, we can save you," the voice continued.
"Save me?" Charles asked, puzzled.
"The Heart-Stealing Giant Worm is dangerous. If you don't come soon, you'll be eaten." Several voices in his mind warned urgently.
"Oh, I've already killed that little bug," Charles said with a smile.
Silence, a silence that lasted for more than ten seconds.
"Are you still there?" Charles tried to ask.
"Hero, please rescue us!" the voice rang out again, much more humble this time.
Charles chuckled, then went to a corner of the stone chamber, where he saw a collapsed pile of stones.
He ordered his men to come and dig open the pile of stones, revealing a crack less than two meters long.
"You can come out now," Charles said.
Then he saw a large round cake carefully peeking out from the crack.
This creature closely resembles a jellyfish, with a yellow, disc-shaped body, two swaying eyestalks on its head, and a dozen or so light pink tentacles beneath it. The tentacles emit a "whooshing" sound, allowing it to float in the air.
"Thank you for saving me... Hmm?" The creature was clearly taken aback when it saw the goblin in front of it, seemingly not expecting that such a small thing would save it. Then it turned its eyes and saw that there were still many goblins behind it, each holding a brain-eating monster in their arms.
"I'll fucking kill you, you're no better!" The giant disc spewed air, and its light pink tentacles instantly turned deep red, desperately squeezing into the crack and colliding with their kind that were trying to emerge from inside.
Charles smirked and brought up their control panels.
