Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins
Chapter 54 Two Ways to Achieve Immortality [Please Read, Add to Favorites, and Recommend]
"Beep—" The Mind Flayer's four tentacles trembled in pain as he gritted his teeth and said, "I'm going to cripple you and make you food for the Metamorphosis."
Before he could finish speaking, he saw a black lump of iron being thrown in front of him.
"Bang!" The grenade exploded at the feet of the Mind Flayer, knocking him to the ground.
Mind Flayer is already quite slender, not to mention he's currently somewhat weakened. Although he possesses strong magic resistance, the explosion of the Grenade Fruit tends to deal more physical damage.
"What's wrong? Aren't you very powerful, Chosen One?" Charles mocked the other, but he didn't dare to let his guard down. He tightly gripped a grenade fruit.
The Mind Flayer in front of him was slightly disheveled, with several wounds on his head from which pale blue blood flowed, and one of his tentacles was almost blown off, only held together by a bit of flesh. However, he was otherwise unharmed. The black high-collared robe he wore was made of some unknown material and had very high defensive capabilities.
"Shut up, goblin, I'm going to feed you to the skull rats!" With a furious roar, the mind flayer rose from the ground and floated in mid-air, seemingly trying to avoid the explosion.
"Another one that can fly." Charles curled his lip and tossed the fruit.
"You dare..." the Mind Flayer cried out, but the explosion still rang out, and the main brain was severely damaged again. A painful scream echoed in his mind once more, and he fell to the ground.
"Look at your immortality, it's dripping with juice," said Charles. "And where are your loyal puppets?"
"Is it painful?" He took out another grenade fruit. "I don't think it's as painful as those metamorphos. Although they are the lowest level of creatures in the forest, they are also struggling to survive. They also have joys and sorrows. They can also pull you down from the sky."
Seeing that Mind Blast and Levitation were ineffective, the Mind Flayer drew his rapier from his waist. "I'm going to cut off your damned tongue."
He charged straight at him, sword in hand. This time, Charles looked serious. Throwing a grenade at this moment would hurt him because of the close distance, and if he threw it at the mainframe, the other would risk a headache to pierce him.
The only option now is to escape, but once we leave this room, without the mastermind to restrain the other side, we will surely die.
"It's a lose-lose situation." Ciel prepared to throw the grenade fruit.
Unexpectedly, a series of shocking events occurred. The Mind Flayer, who was running, suddenly lunged forward and fell to the ground with a "thud." Charles even thought that he had tripped over the edge of his robe.
But he immediately saw the Mind Flayer's ankle being grabbed by a grayish-white skeletal hand. Charles made a quick decision and pulled out his crossbow from behind.
"Whoosh."
The Mind Flayer screamed in agony as his bald octopus head was struck by a crossbow bolt.
"I love eating seafood, but I don't like cooking it." Ciel laughed as he tossed the grenade fruit and quickly ran backward. "You said you used to be human, but I could tell you weren't the first person I saw when I came in."
With a "bang," the grenade exploded in front of the Mind Flayer, his head completely unprotected, and blood and flesh splattered everywhere.
Watching from a distance as the other person struggled to get up several times but failed, Xia Er couldn't help but mutter, "Why didn't you even offer to get yourself a helmet? Is it because you can't fit into the octopus head?"
"You...I want..." The Mind Flayer spat out blue blood, his entire head a bloody mess.
"Stop struggling." Ciel stood at a distance, holding two grenade fruits in his hands. "I will properly deliver your immortality and take you to meet him."
"Oh, right, there's one more thing. The reason I don't want to become a mind flayer is because..."
"I hate baldness."
"Boom—" The octopus head exploded.
…………
"So you've been with me since the Devil Claw Bear days?" Charles squatted down, watching the human in front of him write words on the ground with his hand bones stained with the Mind Flayer's blue blood.
"How did you end up hanging out with the Deinonychus?" he asked.
"I was eaten," the human hand bone wrote. His handwriting was neat and well-educated, much better than Shire's scribbles.
"I see." Charles smiled and brought up the other person's interface.
[Name: Claw of the Creeping]
Race: Undead
[Danger Level: 2, Not Bad]
[Personality: Persistent]
"Bears are indeed scavengers," Charles said with a laugh. "So your flesh has been completely digested, right?"
"Yes," the Claw of the Creep wrote.
"Then why are you following me?"
"You smell just like your owner."
"A smell?" Ciel looked at himself, wondering where the strange smell was coming from. "What's your master's name?"
"Spencer Finescale." The crawling claw wrote the name in beautiful cursive script.
"Never heard of him. Is he that good?"
"He's very powerful; he's a lich. I'm looking for him."
"A lich?" Charles frowned; he had heard many rumors about liches.
Some powerful mages, in pursuit of immortality, abandon their lives and turn to the dark arts of necromancy, transforming themselves into liches. Natural history books record that they seek power at any cost, are insidious and insane, and are enemies of the great kingdoms and churches. They hide in obscure corners, often spending years or even decades plotting their schemes.
These liches were gaunt and bony, with withered flesh clinging to their skeletons, and their eye sockets were no longer filled with eyeballs, but instead with two green will-o'-the-wisps.
They are usually very powerful and possess a lot of wealth and magical materials, which makes many high-level adventurers bounty hunters who hunt liches.
"Is he hiding in the forest?" Charles asked tentatively.
"He sleeps somewhere in the forest, and I can't sense him," the Crawling Claw wrote. Sharl watched the intermittent movements of his fingertips, which seemed somewhat sorrowful.
"Here's what we'll do. You come with me first, and we'll search slowly. If you keep wandering around in the forest, you might get eaten again," Charles said with a smile.
If you bring the other player's pet into your camp now, you might avoid fighting when you meet them again in the future.
After all, liches are even more powerful than mind flayers.
The crawling claw stopped writing with its index finger and instead began to tap rhythmically on the floor, as if it were considering its options. Ten seconds later, it wrote "Okay".
"Alright, from now on I'll call you Little Claw. Is there anything you need?" Charles asked.
"Magic, or magic potion will do, my magic is almost gone." After writing that, the little paws plopped down on the ground, and the bones rolled around everywhere with a "gurgle, gurgle".
Charles quickly gathered all the bones into his bag, afraid of missing a single one.
"I'll prepare some magic potions for you these next few days," he said with a smile.
Then, looking at his subordinates who were gradually regaining consciousness, Charles got up and went to the mainframe that was oozing white fluid.
"now you."
