Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins

Chapter 76 A Glass of Honey Water [Please Read, Add to Favorites, and Recommend]

"Have some hot water." Ciel pushed a cup of hot water with sugar towards the little fairy.

At this moment, Sansio huddled in the corner, soaking wet, wearing a linen cloth draped over his body, watching the goblin squatting in front of him with wariness.

"I meant no harm; I was just forced by circumstances at the time," Charles said with a smile.

After Lupus fell into the water, he finally swam ashore with a dog paddle and spat out the little imp in his mouth.

A group of goblins curiously gathered around, looking at the unconscious Shansio. Whether from shock or choking on water, the little goblin lay on the ground, unconscious. It took Ciel a while to massage him and wake him up.

"Why did you spy on our hunt for that giant serpent?" Charles asked patiently. He knew the other's current situation and wanted to try to talk to him to build rapport.

Sansio stared warily at the goblin in front of him, whose grinning mouth full of sharp teeth made him feel even more dangerous.

Strangely, he didn't sense any evil intentions from the other person.

Fairies are benevolent creatures of the forest. Natural history books record that they are judges of the soul, able to sense whether the other person's heart is good or evil. If they encounter adventurers in the forest who have accepted the mission to eliminate evil creatures, they may even follow and support them.

Now Sansio can hardly believe it. The elders of the tribe used to teach everyone that goblins are an evil species. They are dirty and greedy, they eat everything and don't let anything go. If you encounter a goblin, it's best to fly to a high place and hide. That way, the foolish goblin will leave cursing because it found nothing.

But this goblin was neither dirty nor greedy; he neither ordered himself to be tied up nor torn off his wings to harm himself.

"If you really don't want to talk about it, that's fine. Just wait for the water to dry and then fly away on your own." Ciel handed over a small, lit twig and placed it next to the little fairy to help him ward off the cold moisture.

Then he stood up and went outside the stone chamber.

When Sansio saw that the goblin had really left, he immediately wiped his body with a linen cloth. He slowly approached the fire, spread his wings, and dried the water stains.

"He really intends to let me go." Sansio stroked his translucent wings and muttered to himself, "I still have to be careful. Father said that my sister was captured by an evil race after she went out to play."

The tragedy that had befallen his family constantly reminded him that his mother's health was failing and he couldn't afford to get hurt. He believed that if these goblins were to harm him, his mother would soon pass away.

After feeling that his body was no longer in danger, Sansio looked around, then quickly flapped his wings and flew away. "There aren't many people around. Invisible immediately, find a way out."

After flying a short distance, he landed on the ground. A long-forgotten smell caught his attention—it was the glass of water.

The water smelled of nectar; he hadn't tasted flowers and nectar for many days.

"This is that goblin's treacherous scheme. He must be afraid he won't be able to catch me, so he put a cup of honey water in my cup to lure me into drinking it. Once I drink it, I will..."

As they were talking, Sansio fell silent. If the other party did this, then what they had said earlier couldn't have been well-intentioned.

"I didn't sense any evil intent. Could it be that this goblin really just poured a glass of water?"

Shan Xiao stood next to the wooden cup, staring at it. He was only a dozen centimeters tall, and standing next to the wooden cup, he could just submerge his head in the water.

"How about we just have a sip?" Sansio paced back and forth, rubbing his chin, as if making a very important decision.

"Sansio, this is a test from the gods for you." He held the wooden cup and said earnestly, "You are also a thing of nature, I believe in you, wooden cup."

Then, as if making an extremely difficult decision, he took a deep breath and plunged his head into the water.

"Glug glug," Shan Xiao took several big gulps, then raised his head with satisfaction, and immediately cast a healing spell, Rejuvenating Wind, on himself. "Hehe, that's it. I'm still pretty clever."

He waited silently for a few seconds, and feeling no change in his body, he thought, "That goblin wasn't lying; this is just a normal glass of water?"

After confirming that he was alright, he chuckled and plunged into the water glass again.

Outside the stone chamber, Charles listened to Broken Tooth's account, a mysterious smile on his face. "Finally, you drank it. I was just afraid you wouldn't."

He added a lot of sugar cubes to that glass of water. This sugar was dried nectar from the flowers of the giant taro plant. Unlike the way sugar was produced before he transmigrated, this world also had the method of extracting sugar from other plants, but it was troublesome and time-consuming and had been completely abandoned.

When Charles saw the unconscious goblin, he was overjoyed. He knew that this species possessed four powerful abilities: kindness, as goblins could sense whether the person in front of them had good or evil intentions; invisibility, as they could cast invisibility spells on themselves, making them undetectable to surrounding targets, but the spell would fail if they were not careful and focused; rejuvenating wind, a basic healing spell, but its effectiveness was limited due to their small size; and natural wind, as goblins could use magic to stimulate plant growth.

Of these, the Natural Wind was the one that Charles coveted the most. He had just mentioned Red Bull to Bucktooth and was already planning to give up, but now that Lupus had directly mentioned "Gardener," his idea was rekindled.

"Keep watching, and come find me immediately if anything happens," Charles instructed Broken Tooth, while patiently waiting nearby.

"Ah, I can't drink anymore." Shan Xiao rubbed his belly and lay on the floor. He had drunk the nectar water again in days and was a little out of control.

"It seems the elders in the tribe aren't always right. This goblin isn't so bad after all." He patted his belly contentedly. "Maybe some kind of restriction has awakened within me, making the goblin normal too."

He sat up, rubbed his cheeks, and looked somewhat disappointed. "I can't take this wooden cup with me. My mother needs this nectar water."

"But that goblin might not give me flowers; he's gone."

He slapped himself, his voice filled with regret, "Shanxiao, you should have told him sooner. Maybe then we could have taken some back to Mother."

A few seconds later, Sansio stood up from the ground, dusted off his clothes, as if he had just fought a battle with himself. "This is my own battle. I'll fight for my mother."

He flapped his wings with all his might, determined to find that goblin no matter what and try to borrow some nectar from him.

Sansio kept encouraging himself and finally flew out of the stone chamber. Then he saw Charles standing not far away.

"Hey, are you leaving already? Have a safe trip." Charles waved his hand, his face beaming like a flower dripping with honey.

"Uh, I think..." Sansio flew to him, carefully choosing his words, and then met Ciel's encouraging gaze.

"What do you want to do, my friend?"
