Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins

"What? There are two magical beasts?" Before Xia Er could even leave the passage, he was intercepted by a goblin.

He quickly walked to the platform, which was covered in blood. The Blue-eyed Dragon Serpent had been gutted, and the corpse of a giant frog lay slumped on a pile of slime.

"It's buy one get one free!" Charles said as he approached the giant frog.

This giant frog was the size of an adult bull. Its body was limp on the ground, and its bones were obviously broken. The frog's skin was damaged in many ways, which appeared to be the result of being corroded by stomach acid.

"This is a real bullfrog," Charles remarked before heading straight to the giant snake.

He waded through the blood and endured the stench as he approached, asking, "Is it almost done?"

Upon hearing this, Red-Eyed, who was skinning the snake, turned around and said, "This snake is too big; we don't have enough time."

"Take your time." Charles patted the red-eyed man's shoulder, watching him peel the snake's skin bit by bit with his sword.

The dimensional stripping effect of the Shamrach Black Sword is very powerful, and the cutting surface is very smooth, but it can easily damage the snake skin if you are not careful. Before that, Sharl specifically instructed Red Eye to handle it carefully, because the snake skin was to be used to make leather armor for him and the combat personnel in his tribe.

"If the Mind Flayer knew that this longsword he treasured was used to skin the Blue-Eyes Serpent, I wonder if he would be happy or angry?" Charles said, looking at the longsword.

"Achoo!" Red Eyes sneezed, and he stopped in time, almost scratching the snake's skin.

Winter is approaching, and the temperature has already dropped significantly. Moreover, the temperature is even lower on the underground river platform inside the cave. It probably doesn't even feel 10 degrees Celsius here.

"Go and have White Hair bring some men over to cook a big pot of sweet soup. Just say it was my order," Charles instructed One-Eye beside him, telling him to run the errand immediately.

Manager Du immediately scurried away.

"This snakeskin is very sturdy." Charles squatted down and looked at the snakeskin in front of him.

The freshly peeled snakeskin, still stained with blood, was stacked to the side.

In his memory, he had seen many kinds of hides, and even had the honor of seeing so-called dragon hides, but he knew that they were not real dragon hides, but at most the hides of wyverns.

However, the snakeskin in front of him was much better than cowhide in terms of both thickness and toughness. Charles even felt that it was comparable to the skin of a wyvern.

"It's this long, how are we going to get it to the log cabin transfer station?" He fiddled with the snakeskin, somewhat speechless. "We can only cut it into several pieces and transport it in batches."

"And it has to be quick. Fresh hides will harden and become brittle due to moisture evaporation, and they will also curl up. Snake skin is even more troublesome. If it starts to curl up, its scales will stick outwards, and it will be very difficult to flatten it back up later."

Charles instructed his men to lay the snakeskin flat, trying to prevent it from curling, while considering whether to have Agatha make another trip to Goat's Horn that night, and to tell Mary to immediately find someone to prepare to process the snakeskin.

The goblins on the platform were working methodically when a voice suddenly rang in Charles's mind: "Bandit, Agatha wants you to hurry over."

"Hmm?" Ciel stood up and looked at the floating Furu, asking, "What did he say?"

"No." Furu's eye stalk swayed from side to side, as if shaking its head.

After giving his men a few instructions, Charles headed towards the passage. Just before entering, he suddenly remembered the bloodstains on his hands and feet, so he went to the underground river to wash them carefully.

"The water is so cold," he gasped, realizing that winter was really fast approaching.

"Buy another batch of sheepskins. Goblins don't have much fur, and the weather is getting colder now, so we need to get clothes for our men." Charles pondered what he needed to pay attention to in the future.

Previously, the sheepskins given to my men were all whole pieces, meant to be used as mats for sleeping. But the goblins don't even have warm clothes, which will definitely affect their hunting and gathering activities in winter.

…………

"What do you want?" Charles asked after greeting the doorman.

"You wait here," Agatha smiled mysteriously at Charles, then picked up her book, *The Aristocracy of Plantagenet Behind the Bed Curtains*, placed it in the center of a stone ring, and then pushed a stone next to it.

Charles watched in shock as the book vanished with a "whoosh," as if it had been sucked into a black hole, and then reappeared in another stone ring, as if it had traveled through time.

"Did it work?" he exclaimed in surprise.

"It was just a successful initial experiment," Agatha replied with a smile, but she immediately added, "We only did two experiments: the first with the stone, and the second with the book."

"Haven't you done any live experiments?" Charles asked immediately.

Agatha shook her head. "Not yet."

Charles immediately ran out and ordered One-Eye to find someone to bring the rats. He had caught a few rats and kept them as pets for experimenting with the teleportation portal.

After a while, he personally placed the cage containing the rat in the middle of the stone ring, and then asked everyone to leave the stone chamber and stand in the passage.

Only the manager insisted on staying, and Charles patted him on the shoulder, his eyes full of admiration.

After everyone had left, Charles shouted, "Start!"

One-Eyed immediately pushed the stone next to him, and with a "whoosh," the cage and the rat disappeared together, then reappeared in the center of another stone ring.

Charles called One-Eye to his side, and the group waited quietly for a minute. After confirming that nothing strange had happened to the rat, they entered the stone chamber one by one.

"It seems that living things can also work," Sharmo said, stroking his chin.

"A mouse isn't enough; we need something bigger, preferably a goblin or something similar for testing." Agatha stared at the mouse in the cage.

"There could be danger," Charles said. He wasn't sure if the rat had mutated, since the little thing couldn't talk, but if it did, it would be quite frightening.

"Chief, let me do it," One-Eyed said, stepping forward and patting his chest.

Charles shook his head. Although this subordinate usually liked to flatter, he was clearly unaware of the risks involved.

"Let me do it," Charles said, stepping into the stone circle.

"Ciel, this is dangerous. You could disappear into a space no one knows about," Agatha said seriously.

"The rat experiment just now proved that there won't be any problems with teleportation, and this was the research I strongly advocated for. In the end, I became the leader of the tribe," Charles said with a smile, while silently thinking to himself: At least I still have the heart of a hero to rely on.

Agatha's lips twitched, and she tried several times to persuade Ciel to give up the idea. She wanted to tell him that he could just find any goblin, but she knew that Ciel would not agree.

"Sigh—you're still you." She sighed deeply, nodded, and stopped trying to persuade her old classmate.

Then she went over and pushed the stone herself.

With a "whoosh," Ciel was swallowed by the black hole.
