Forests Don't Support Idle Goblins

Chapter 89 Do Me a Favor [4k]
With a "bang," John was kicked away. He rolled several times on the ground before quickly getting up with one hand on the ground.
But a wooden stick had already swept in front of him, and he had to raise his stick to block it, but the force from the other side knocked him back several steps.
Immediately afterward, John steadied himself, dodged the thrust of the stick, slid to the side, and struck his opponent's ankle with the stick.
Unfortunately, this blow only slowed down the opponent's movements for a moment. The opponent suddenly turned around and swung his fist across.
With a "smack," Little John was sent flying.
"Uh, I give up, I'm done." He rubbed his arm, grimacing, and walked up to his opponent. "Cao Cao is too strong, I can't beat him."
"Aren't you going to play anymore? Cao Cao likes to play like this." The 3-meter-tall troll laughed happily.
"It's quite impressive that you've lasted this long," Charles said, clapping as he sat on a nearby tree stump.
"It hasn't been long yet. If you want to beat Cao Cao, you'll need to learn more skills." Little John walked to the side, looked up at Cao Cao, and said, "Cao Cao, I brought you a big bag of gingerbread."
"The gingerbread is delicious, but it's too small." Cao Cao waved his arms happily.
"Okay, let's go back first and have some gingerbread." Charles smiled as he stood up and patted his pants.
The three of them stood together and walked towards the fortress entrance, their silhouettes resembling cell phone signal bars.
A furoo-like creature, puffing out air, followed behind the three people.
"Boss, I heard the Storm Brotherhood has started its official selection process," John said.
"Hmm, Mary's information sheet says that quite a few people have signed up." Charles looked up, peering at the sky through the gaps in the leaves.
The man in front glanced back at the two of them, then walked over, picked up Charles and put him around his neck, and then hoisted John onto his shoulder.
The three of them finally synchronized their pace.
"Speaking of which, there's something I need you to do, and it'll take some time." Charles held Cao Cao's head and looked down at Little John.
John, bent over and being carried, tried several times to look up at Charles, but it was too much trouble, so he gave up and stared at the ground, asking, "Is it difficult?"
"It's a bit difficult, and there could be danger."
"No problem, is there anything I can do for you?"
"Let's talk inside the fortress; it's too complicated to explain in a single sentence."
"OK."
After a while, he sat down on the ground, grabbed a handful of gingerbread from the bag, stuffed it into his mouth, and chewed it with a crunching sound. Charles thought he looked just like he used to eat popcorn in the movie theater.
"Take this first." Charles handed a silver pendant necklace to Little John.
John took the necklace and examined it carefully. It was made of pure silver and had exquisite workmanship; it was obviously not cheap.
"This is a token, you must not lose it. You need to set off tomorrow, take a boat down the Darren River, all the way to Torch City." After saying that, Charles took out another piece of paper. "There are two addresses and names on this. You need to find these two people."
Little John took the paper and looked at it by the blue fluorescent light. "Musa, Obodo?"
“Yes, Musa is an elderly islander, about 1.8 meters tall, with brown hair and eyes, and a half-finger-long scar on his left eyebrow.” Charles looked at the troll munching on gingerbread in the corner. “He might be hard to find, maybe he’s hiding. You can stay in Torch City for a few more days. If you still can’t find him, that’s fine. But if you do see him, you can show him this necklace and bring him to me.”
Little John nodded, then asked, "What about this Obodo?"
"For him, you need to stake out around this address and see if there's anyone doing the same thing as you. If there is, don't act rashly or go near the place. Once you're sure it's safe, then try to track him down, find out what he does every day, and then come back and tell me."
"Shouldn't I bring him to see you, boss?"
"No need. This Obodo is about your age, maybe a little older, and he's better than you. Try not to get into a conflict with him," Charles said seriously.
"Okay, I got it." Little John nodded and carefully hid the paper and necklace on his body.
"Take 20 gold coins directly from Mary for the journey." Charles turned to look directly at Little John. "Remember, don't tell anyone you know me."
"Okay." Little John nodded.
"Well then, that's settled. Good luck, my friend." Charles smiled at Little John and extended his hand to him.
John was taken aback, then seriously reached out and shook hands with the other person. He realized that his boss's gesture was unusual, and this matter must be extremely important to him.
After a while, Charles watched as John Franklin Jr. walked into the portal and stood there. He then went over and activated the controller, while simultaneously commanding in his mind: Grant the Eye of Confusion to John Franklin Jr.
Then he brought up Little John's panel.
Name: John Franklin Jr.
Race: Human
[Danger Level: 5, Slightly Strong]
Personality: Cautious
[Title: Future Hero]
[Ability: Bewildering Eyes (Unawakened)]
As Little John disappeared into the portal, the panel faded and vanished. Ciel stared at the portal on the ground for a long time.
He knew the other party was having a difficult time making a decision, so he assigned this task to keep John away for the time being.
"I will not put my men in a dilemma," he said calmly.
Then, Charles smiled and walked out of the doorway into the stone chamber he had been in before. "Cao Cao, are there any gingerbread cookies left?"
"Yes, do you want some green eggs?" Cao Cao stretched out a hand, her palm full of gingerbread.
Charles grabbed a small handful, threw a piece into his mouth, and said, "The fortifications are in place, Broken Tooth is patrolling every day, the goblin soldiers are training hard, there's plenty of potion, and we've also stockpiled grenade fruits."
He crunched on gingerbread, muttering to himself, "They probably won't come looking for me, will they?"
"Nine Fingers," Charles called to his subordinates who were working ahead, "You take some men and go to the stone chamber ahead to carry 40..."
A brain-eating monster was placed in a small room next to the grenade fruit.
"Yes, Chief." Nine Fingers nodded in response.
"Remember, that room needs to be sealed," Charles reminded her, lest the brain-eating monster escape, or things would get really messy.
These past few days, the brains of all sorts of prey have been used to feed the Brain Monster, causing these "fat cats" to reproduce and their numbers to increase significantly.
The goblins in the tribe all like to feed them and hold them in their arms to play with them. Surprisingly, the one who likes to pet the brain-eating monster the most is the Red-Eyed Goblin.
All I can say is that mentally ill people have broad perspectives, and brain-damaged children have a lot of fun.
Not far away, several little goblins flew over. They were here again to plant Red Bull in exchange for honey. The Red Bull was growing very well these days, and the goblins could once again have lunch with chunks of Red Bull on it.
"My friends, it's a pleasure to see you all again." He smiled and walked towards the little fairy.
"Send it to Torch City?"
-
Inside Valentine's Castle in Black Lion City, Philip sat on a sofa, leisurely sipping coffee.
"Yes, Your Excellency means to transport a batch of gold coins to Torch City in half a month, and it would be best to take the opportunity to send the little fairy along with it," explained Captain Jules, standing to the side.
"Isn't Torch City in pretty much a mess right now?" Philip put down his cup, his eyes fixed on the map of the Kingdom of Fran on the wall.
Since the Melo family was executed for treason, Torch City and its surrounding territories have been temporarily reclaimed by the royal family, and a group of administrative personnel have been appointed.
"Sir said Torch City is in chaos, but Plantagenet City is even more chaotic. Going to Torch City is worse than going to the capital at this time." Jules immediately poured Philippe a full cup of coffee.
"Half a month should be enough," Philip nodded and said.
"But young master," Jules paused for a moment before speaking, "Martel and the others haven't sent back any news for three days."
"A stray dog on the roadside eats a little meat and thinks it's a wolf." Philip picked up his coffee cup and snorted. "Write a reprimand order. If the little devils can't be found, order the Sheriff's Office to expel them and never allow them to enter the Valentine family's territory again."
"Yes, young master," Jules said, placing one hand on his chest and bowing slightly. "But you know the character of these people. I think a reprimand might not be very effective. If they make a mistake, it might lead to the lord reprimanding you."
"You're right," Philip nodded slightly. "These gutter rats are just good for nothing and good for nothing."
"Jules, be prepared. If anything goes wrong with them, we may need to lead the Knights into the forest ourselves."
He turned to look at Captain Jules, his tone calm.
"But young master, the forest is dangerous. Are you really going there yourself?" Jules stepped forward, trying to dissuade him.
"Those rats from the gutter can come and go freely in the forest. Are you knights afraid of the monsters and goblins in the forest?" Philip glanced at the captain of the guard.
"I understand, I'll go write the reprimand order right away," Jules said, straightening up seriously.
Then he walked out of the reception room and gently closed the door.
Philip sipped his coffee while looking at the map of the kingdom on the wall.
On the map, the Lord of Valentine's territory is right next to Nightmare Forest to the north, while at the mouth of the Darren River in the far south, there is a small area less than one-fifth the size of his own territory, which is where Torch City is located, the former territory of Baron Mello.
"Father is truly greedy; he even wants to extend the territory along the Darren River all the way to its mouth." He picked up his coffee cup, stood up, and went to the map. "However, the future is indeed a good time for the family to rise."
"I must seize this opportunity to rise from a border earl to a duke, or even an elector." Philip slowly smiled, seemingly envisioning the glory of inheriting the dukedom, but his smile soon faded. "I haven't even found a little vixen yet, and I'm still dreaming of changing allegiances."
"Smash!" He slammed the coffee cup in his hand onto the ground. "A rat."
The sound of the glass shattering startled the maid, who pushed the door ajar and peeked in respectfully, asking, "Young Master, what's wrong? Is there anything I can do for you?"
Philip didn't even glance at her, simply tossing out a sentence before walking straight out: "Clean the house up."
The maidservant clasped her hands together, bowed her head, and waited respectfully for Philip's footsteps to disappear. Then she immediately took her tools and went to the reception room to clean.
She sat on the floor, holding a cloth and bending down to wipe a stain of coffee.
"Ah!" the maid exclaimed, pulling her hand back. A bloody mark appeared; she had cut her palm on a shard of the cup.
But there wasn't time to treat her wounds further. She didn't know if anyone would come to visit Master Philip later, so she needed to clean up the stains in front of her as soon as possible.
The maid skillfully took out a white cloth from her person, wrapped it around her palm, and after confirming that the problem was not serious, she endured the pain and continued to clean up the broken pieces and coffee liquid on the ground.
Soon, the ground was as clean as new.
Seeing that young master Philip had not returned, she breathed a sigh of relief and turned to look around the reception room.
"The petals will fall, what should we do? We need to think of a way—" A beautiful song drifted from the inner room of the reception room.
The maid tiptoed inside, where a little fairy sat on a gilded bird perch, singing softly.
The maid picked up a water jug from the side and filled the small water basin on the bird stand with honey water.
"Yunxia, I'm sorry, I was busy and forgot," she said apologetically.
"You're injured." The little fairy looked at the white bandage on the maid's hand, which was stained with red blood, and reached out her hands to hug the maid's palms.
Blue starlight began to emanate from her hand. A gust of wind blew, and the starlight swirled and danced around the maid's palm like playful fireflies. A few seconds later, the maid was surprised to find that her palm no longer hurt.
She removed the white cloth and found that the wound had completely healed.
"Thank you, Yunxia." The maid thanked her, put the blood-stained white cloth back into her pocket, and looked up to see the little fairy sitting on the bird stand, leaning against the metal rod, staring blankly out the window.
The maid looked around and saw a pot of pansies on the windowsill, but the flowers were somewhat withered.
She walked over, picked a flower, brought it back, and handed it to the little fairy, "Yunxia, here you go."
Yunxia grasped the flower stem with both hands, and then a burst of green starlight shone, and the flower, which was almost withered, miraculously came back to life.
"Yunxia, I think you could be a little more compliant next time." The maid looked at the little fairy, carefully choosing her words, "After all, that way you won't suffer torture."
"No, I will not give in," Yunxia said firmly.
"But how painful that is!" the maid frowned, trying to dissuade her. Every time she peeked out and saw the little imp screaming in agony, she felt a chill run down her spine. "Just apologize, sing a song for the young master, and it won't—"
"I will never sing for him, never," Yunxia said, enunciating each word clearly.
"Sigh—" the maid sighed and stopped trying to persuade her.
The little fairy, clutching the flowers, continued to lean against the bird perch, gazing absently at the sky outside the window.
She just stared at it, silent, like a lifeless object, but her lively eyes proved that she was still alive.
A few sparrows fluttered past the window.
A tear spilled from the corner of her eye and rolled down her cheek.
"Father, Mother, Sansio," she murmured softly.
