One Piece: Starting with Breathing Techniques

Chapter 4 New Feature - Deduction

After an unknown amount of time, Kilo slowly awoke from his coma once more.

I opened my eyes and saw a dim, yellowish ceiling.

As Kiro sat up, straining his waist and abdomen, he felt aches and pains all over his body, causing him to gasp in pain.

Who would have thought that I would faint twice in just one day!

Fragmented memories flooded my mind; they were the memories of the original owner of this body.

With a splitting headache, Kiro slowly processed the complex information, and it took him a while to recover.

Breathing in the fresh air of survival, Kiro tried to raise his hands, only to find them completely wrapped in bandages.

"You're awake!"

A gasp came from the side. Kiro turned his head and saw a pretty little girl with a look of surprise on her face, leaning closer to him.

The girl had slightly brown skin and long, beautiful black hair. Her high nose bridge accentuated her bright, piercing eyes, which, though red from crying, were now filled with surprise as she looked at the awakened Kiro.

It's easy to tell from the girl's delicate features that she's a natural beauty.

Looking at the petite girl in front of him, her figure gradually overlapped with the image in his memory.

Robin!

The intelligent, wise, and sensitive archaeologist in the original story is currently just a young girl who is heartbroken over the destruction of her hometown.

According to his memories, Kiro's original self was a scholar studying in Ohara, but he never had any contact with Robin.

Seeing Robin's red eyes, clearly from crying, Kiro was about to get out of bed when Robin exclaimed and stopped him.

"Your injury is quite serious! The doctors say you'll need to recover for a while before you can walk again!"

Looking at the bandages wrapped all over his body, Kiro suddenly thought of something and asked.

"Wait, how long was I unconscious? What happened after I passed out?"

Robin counted on his fingers for a moment, then quickly answered.

"Two days!"

"You suddenly appeared behind me, covered in blood, and collapsed. It startled me, and I quickly pulled you up."

"And not long after, the Tree of Omniscience... fell!"

At this point, Robin's voice suddenly choked up.

"Mom...Sauro..."

"Perhaps... in Ohara, it's just the two of us left..."

Kiro looked at Robin, whose eyes were filled with tears, and felt a pang of heartache.

But Robin quickly composed herself and looked at Kiro with bright eyes.

From the pattern on Kiro's collar, Robin recognized him as a scholar from Ohara, who was only a little older than herself, making him a rare peer!

For various reasons, she felt a certain fondness for this newfound companion, especially since their hometown had been destroyed and they were now left to rely on each other.

She blinked her big eyes and asked expectantly.

"What's your name? I've seen you at the library!"

"Oh, right! I haven't introduced myself yet! My name is..."

Before the words were even finished, Kiro immediately answered.

"Nicole Robin, right?"

"It seems like everyone on the entire island knows your name."

Unexpectedly, upon hearing Kiro's words, Robin took a step back, as if she had thought of something.

In her mind, most people on Ohara Island would treat her with prejudice because of her Devil Fruit ability.

Since he has heard of his own name, the boy in front of him must already know that he is special.

Could it be that even the companions he saved harbored prejudice against him?

Robin's eyes dimmed, and tears welled up in them, a hint of grievance in them.

The events of the past few days have been far too heavy for this eight-year-old girl.

She had to use her abilities to find a place for the unconscious Kiro to rest, while also enduring the pain of her homeland's destruction and her mother's death.

No one knows how sad this little girl was inside.

Just as the light in Robin's eyes began to fade, a snap of her fingers interrupted her thoughts and drew her attention.

Kilo sat up without anyone noticing. With a thought, a visible turquoise hurricane suddenly formed out of thin air and began to swirl around him.

He smiled as he looked at Robin, who was stunned by the scene, as if he could see right through her.

"Although I don't have a Devil Fruit, I still possess similar powers."

"We're kind of the same kind of people, Robin."

"Nice to meet you, my name is Kiro!"

Kiro was about to pat Robin's head when his outstretched hand suddenly froze in mid-air.

Based on the information in my memory, I am only about twelve years old, and only four years older than eight-year-old Robin.

So Kiro quickly withdrew the head pat and instead extended his right hand.

Robin stared blankly at Kiro's outstretched right hand, her eyes gradually brightening.

She stepped forward and took Kiro's right hand, her eyes filled with joy.

On Ohara, both children and adults held certain prejudices against Robin.

Not only because Robin had no parents, but mainly because of Robin's extraordinary abilities.

This ability comes from the Paramecia-type Flower-Flower Fruit, which once caused Robin to be bullied and become known as a "monster" by people.

Since Robin could remember, Kiro was the first person she had ever met who possessed the same unique abilities as herself!

Robin's smile was innocent and pure. Apart from Dr. Clover and Saul, Kiro was the third friend he had made!

He's also my only friend who's the same age!

Suddenly remembering something, she brought over a glass of water and spoke earnestly to Kiro.

"You rest well first, I'll use the allowance Dr. Clover gave me to buy some food!"

Kiro watched Robin run off, feeling a pang of emotion. He never imagined that the eight-year-old Robin would become his savior.

Feeling the injuries all over his body, Kiro subconsciously activated his breathing technique to speed up the recovery while his mind sank.

As he softly activated the control panel, a familiar, cold voice rang out.

【Ding! 】

Upgrade complete!

The proficiency panel has been reactivated.

【Name: Kiro】

Age: 12

[Current Skills: Mark (Beginner), Sun Breathing (Mastery), Wind Breathing (Mastery), Thunder Breathing (Mastery), Water Breathing (Minor Mastery), Flame Breathing (Minor Mastery)...]

Current points: 67

[Upgrade] [Deduction]

As the panel that had always been with him reappeared, Kiro's brows relaxed and the corners of his mouth turned up.

The cheat code is back, that's more like it!

Since Kiro traveled to the Demon Slayer world a few years ago, he has unlocked a cheat called "Proficiency Panel".

After some time of exploration, he basically mastered the functions of this panel.

It's very simple, as the name suggests—the core of this system is to improve skill proficiency through points.

Each time he defeats a powerful enemy, he gains a certain number of points.

Before Kiro participated in the operation to eliminate Muzan, he only had 7 points.

After Muzan was killed, the number immediately reached an astonishing 67 points.

For Kiro, who immediately spent all the points he earned, he had never seen so many points before.

Points can be used to improve the proficiency of a skill, and can be divided into six levels from basic to advanced:

Beginner, proficient, minor success, major success, perfection, breaking limits.

It seems very simple, but in reality, each stage requires years of experience and practice to cross and move on to the next.

The final breakthrough requires an exceptionally large number of points, and Kilo has never achieved it without accumulating enough points.

With this panel, Kiro swept through the Demon Slayer world, raising most of his breathing techniques to minor mastery, and several breathing techniques that perfectly suited his personality to major mastery.

However, the special attributes of the breathing technique are only unlocked after mastering it to a high level of proficiency.

For example, the fierce winds of Wind Breathing, the raging flames of Sun Breathing, and the lightning bolts of Thunder Breathing.

Previously, breathing techniques simply increased physical fitness without providing this special effect.

As the only technique to achieve perfect mastery, Sun Breathing is the most powerful of all breathing techniques, playing a crucial role in the battle against Muzan. Unfortunately, it consumes a great deal of physical strength.

but……

Kiro's eyes lit up when he saw the newly appeared function at the bottom of the panel—[Deduction].

He speculated that it was very likely that the warm current after killing Muzan triggered the panel upgrade, which led to the update of this function.

Judging from the literal meaning, this function is not as stable as the "upgrade" function and has obvious uncertainties, but the benefits are probably higher.

"New feature...why not give it a try?"

The gambling addict's spirit within Kiro suddenly began to stir.
