I am not a literary giant

Chapter 15 The Art of Speaking

The prince stood there, mouth agape, seemingly lost in thought, while Lin Feng held up "Paradise Lost" and swung it in the air before him.

He stayed up until 4 a.m. yesterday and only slept for two hours. His senses are now unusually sharp, but his thinking is very dull, and time and space are distorted in his perception.

He noticed that Raymond Lam had almond-shaped eyes and willow-leaf eyebrows. His skin was covered in some kind of moisturizer, which was so oily it was almost shiny. However, his face was pitted and uneven, which was proof that he had acne.

The leader said from the side, "Xiao Wang is our unit's artistic youth, oh, now he's an artistic middle-aged man. He reads a lot, you should get along very well."

Prince Xu snapped out of his reverie and said as if waking from a dream, "Ah, um, I was just flipping through it casually."

Junichi Watanabe's "Paradise Lost" was a book he kept on his desk for reference while writing his script. He didn't have many feelings about it, and those he did have were mostly related to literary ambiguity.

Lin Feng flipped through a page or two and said, "If you also love literature, then read less of this kind of book. Reading too much of this kind of book is harmful."

Wang Zixu neither agreed nor disagreed with his opinion, but out of respect for the other party's status, he nodded and said, "Well, I haven't looked at it much."

Lin Feng said, "If you love literature, I recommend you read some more substantial works, like, uh, *Les Misérables*, or *The Count of Monte Cristo*..."

Wang Zixu said, "Isn't *The Count of Monte Cristo* a popular novel?"

Lin Feng was taken aback: "Who told you that? Don't you know Alexandre Dumas?"

Wang Zixu said, "Yes, I know it. I've read it. The Count of Monte Cristo is a popular novel."

The leader beside him glanced at Wang Zixu. He knew Wang Zixu well; he spoke without regard for others' feelings. Sensing the situation was turning sour, he quickly tried to smooth things over:

"Isn't a popular novel still a novel? They're all the same, all the same. Xiao Wang, be more modest. President Lin has made great achievements in literature. You should learn more from him and not think that you know the most."

Wang Zixu felt a little wronged. He was just stating the facts. The two examples Lin Feng had just given were completely unrelated.

It's like someone recommending you read both Lu Xun's "Call to Arms" and Jin Yong's "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" at the same time. Although both books are good, their styles are so different that it's hard not to complain.

But this is a critical time, and the overall situation is paramount. While literature is important, it's not appropriate to popularize science at this moment. He obediently shut his mouth, neither contradicting his leader nor continuing to argue with Lin Feng, keeping his eyes down and his mind at ease.

From those two sentences, he had basically figured out Lin Feng's level. But there was nothing to be proud of, and there was no need to dance outside of someone else's knowledge level.

Lin Feng, however, seemed unperturbed, saying, "Hey, it's alright. Literature is a matter of personal taste. Some people like the refined, some like the popular. In my opinion, the most popular is the most refined, and the most refined is the most popular. What we just had was just a heated argument, a gentleman's discussion, focusing on the issue, not the person. Don't take offense."

Wang Zixu gave a thumbs up and said, "That's a very insightful statement. There's a saying, 'Great minds think alike.' While I'm not a hero, I do indeed share the same views as President Lin."

Raymond Lam laughed heartily: "What are you talking about? I'm no hero either."

Wang Zixu's words came from the bottom of his heart, without a trace of flattery, but the leader did not think so. He stood behind Lin Feng with an extremely beautiful expression and gave Wang Zixu a rare kind smile, as if to say, "You've finally figured it out, kid."

The leader cleverly inserted a witty remark to enhance the atmosphere:

"General Manager Lin is a literary master, and Xiao Wang is a talented young man in our unit. What do you call that? Great minds think alike!"

Raymond Lam said, "Haha, right!"

The guests and hosts enjoyed themselves immensely. Lin Feng patted Wang Zixu on the shoulder and said, "When can we have a meal together and talk about literature?"

Wang Zixu saw the leader behind Lin Feng winking at him and nodded, saying, "Okay."

His department's examination was over, and there were no problems. He passed smoothly, and then they went to Guo Ranran's department.

After the group left, Zhang Cangnian, who had been hiding outside the door, strolled back in, patted him on the shoulder with a smile, and said:

"You're quite the charmer! You've really made Lin Feng happy. This should make things easier for us during the inspection. The boss will definitely remember this and give you credit."

Wang Zixu put away Junichi Watanabe's "Paradise Lost" and said, "I didn't lie to him."

Zhang Cangnian, holding his water glass, asked, "By the way, what happened to *The Count of Monte Cristo*?"

Wang Zixu glanced at him: "Nothing much, it looks pretty good."

"What I mean is, how many books have you actually read?"

Wang Zixu looked up and thought for a moment, then looked down and said, "Let me put it this way, I've read all the major works of the authors whose names you can recall."

Zhang Cangnian asked in surprise, "So confident?"

"As long as you can remember the name."

Zhang Cangnian said, "You're a fucking ruthless guy."

Just then, the two heard a loud, exaggerated female voice coming from next door. Guo Ranran was shouting and yelling in the office next door.

The two went to the door next door to peek, and saw Guo Ranran with an exaggerated expression, her eyes glistening with tears as she looked at Lin Feng:

"Teacher Lin, do you know? I admire literary talents the most. Do you have any book recommendations? I really want to learn. Could you recommend a few books to teach me?"

Lin Feng laughed heartily and said, "There aren't many girls who like reading these days. Okay, I'll recommend a few to you..."

Guo Ranran said, "Please wait a moment, I'll go find a notebook. I need to carefully write down the books that Teacher Lin recommended."

Lin Feng laughed heartily again. The leader, standing nearby, said, "This young lady is quite eager to learn, and it's true, for someone born in the 00s, she's far more outstanding than many of our older colleagues."

At the doorway, Wang Zixu turned back to look at Zhang Cangnian and whispered, "Now that's what you call knowing how to coax someone."

……

On the second day after the Little Prince took leave, Huang Da's work quality deteriorated, his happiness index dropped significantly, and the entire company was shrouded in an atmosphere of anxiety.

I didn't notice it when the Little Prince was around, but now that he's on leave, Huang Da is almost driven to a nervous breakdown by the word "script".

"Huang Da, haven't you gotten a new script yet? When will it be sent out?"

"Hey, hasn't the scriptwriter come back yet? When will he be back?"

"Boss! I haven't closed a deal in two days! Where's my script?! Where's my script?! I can't use verbal therapy without my script!"

Overnight, it seemed like everyone was reaching out to him for scripts. He sat blankly at his workstation, the cursor flashing on the computer screen, as if he suddenly didn't know how to work anymore.

Just then, the cleaning lady appeared beside him in a sinister manner and whispered in his ear, "Foot."

Huang Da was so agitated that he almost jumped up from his chair. He turned to look at his aunt, as if to say, "Are you here to urge me to write the script too?"

Then the auntie said, "Lift it up a bit."

"oh."

After the aunt left, Huang Da felt that things couldn't go on like this.

He knocked on Zuo Ziliang's office door and poured out his heart to Zuo Ziliang about the current situation. Zuo Ziliang looked up at him and asked, "Is it really that serious? Can't we speech therapists do our part?"

Huang Da said, "Since we lost the crutch of scripts, the performance of our speech therapists has been, to put it mildly, deteriorated drastically."

"Where's the data?"

"The number of orders has dropped by 13% for two consecutive days, the number of tips has decreased by 30%, and the rating has dropped by 0.1."

Zuo Ziliang placed his hands below his nose, mimicking Commander Ikari's classic pose.

"With so many new users, shouldn't we let them use the old scripts repeatedly?"

Huang Da said, "That's what I told them too, but it didn't seem to work. First, they themselves couldn't remember which users had used which scripts. Second, some screenshots of our old scripts had been leaked, and some new users knew the tricks and felt cheated. This is the main reason for the drop in ratings."

Zuo Ziliang took a deep breath and said, "That's why I asked the Little Prince to train them. They're just mechanically using the script; they haven't truly understood it."

Huang Da said, "Boss, what do you think we should do?"

Zuo Ziliang was still pondering when Ye Lan walked in and said, "What should we do? In my opinion, let's just fire the scriptwriter."

Upon hearing this, Huang Da turned around in shock. Zuo Ziliang's expression changed, and he beckoned Huang Da to leave.

Huang Da obediently left, closing the door behind him. Only Zuo Ziliang and Ye Lan remained in the office.

Zuo Ziliang asked, "What do you mean?"

"It's obvious," Ye Lan said. "What I mean is, since you can't control the scriptwriter, then kick him out. We don't need the scriptwriter anymore."

She lowered her head, her eyes fixed on Zuo Ziliang: "For a company to get on the right track, it cannot tolerate people who are irreplaceable in their work. You studied management, you should understand this."
