Chapter 313 Over Two Decades of Change, Blue Star Map

The First Emperor raised his hand from the table and waved it toward Meng Tian and Li Si, pointing to the straw mat in front of them.

"Sit still."

Meng Tian sat down on the straw mat, his back straight, his hands resting flat on his knees, palms down.

His gaze remained fixed on Li Si, the intense killing intent in his pupils not yet completely dissipated.

Li Si got up from the ground slowly, his hands supporting him on the floor, his knees shaking violently.

He sat back down on the straw mat next to Luo Fei, head down, not daring to look at anyone, his hands on his knees, his fingers curled up.

The First Emperor shifted his gaze from them and landed on Luo Fei.

"Mr. Luo, you say you came from more than two thousand years ago. Then I would like to know what happened in the two thousand years since the fall of Qin."

Luo Fei sat on a straw mat, his hands on his knees, his fingers interlaced, and spoke in a deep voice.

"After the fall of the Qin Dynasty, the world was in chaos. Liu Bang, the Duke of Pei, an ordinary man who rose from the rank of village head, spent four years defeating Xiang Yu, the Hegemon-King of Western Chu, and establishing the Han Dynasty."

"The Han Dynasty lasted for more than four hundred years and was one of the longest unified dynasties in the history of the Chinese nation. At its peak, the Han Dynasty's territory far surpassed that of the Qin Dynasty, extending north to the Gobi Desert, south to Jiaozhi, west to the Western Regions, and east to the sea."

"The emperors of the Han Dynasty dispatched envoy Zhang Qian to the Western Regions, opening up the Silk Road. The Han army launched a northern expedition against the Xiongnu, achieving the Fenglangjuxu ceremony and inscribing the Yanran Mountain. Han Dynasty scholars wrote the Records of the Grand Historian and the Book of Han, recording three thousand years of history from the Yellow Emperor to Emperor Wu of Han."

Luo Fei paused for a moment, noticing the complex emotions in the First Emperor's eyes, and continued.

"But after the Han Dynasty, the world was divided again. The Three Kingdoms period, the Jin Dynasty, the Sixteen Kingdoms, and the Northern and Southern Dynasties were all in conflict. During this period, the north was occupied by nomadic peoples, and the Han people migrated south. The Five Barbarians established more than a dozen regimes in the Central Plains. The Han people were massacred, enslaved, and treated as 'two-legged sheep.' Women were abducted, children were killed, and villages were burned down. That era is known in history as the 'Five Barbarian Invasions'."

Luo Fei's voice carried a hint of heaviness.

The First Emperor clenched his fists tightly, and the veins on the back of his hands bulged out.

His lips were pressed into a straight line, with the ends drooping slightly, and the skin at the corners of his mouth was taut.

Fusu lifted his hand from his knees and gently placed it on the table, his fingers naturally spread and his palm pressed firmly against the tabletop.

Meng Tian gripped the sword hilt tightly, his knuckles turning white from the force.

Li Si kept his head down, making it impossible to see his expression; only his shoulders were trembling slightly.

Luo Fei continued, "In the history of China, there have been many such calamities. The Jingkang Incident: the Jin army marched south, capturing two emperors of the Song Dynasty and more than three thousand imperial concubines, leading to the fall of the Northern Song Dynasty. The Yangzhou Massacre: after the Qing army captured Yangzhou, they massacred the city for ten days, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of thousands. The Opium War: the Western powers used their superior ships and cannons to force open China's doors, forcing China to cede territory, pay indemnities, and suffer national humiliation."

He paused for a moment, his gaze falling on the First Emperor's face.

The dark spot in the center of the First Emperor's pupils seemed to be burning. He roared in a low voice, "My descendants, my empire, have been humiliated to such an extent by foreign tribes!"

The Nanjing Massacre.

Luo Fei continued, pausing briefly after speaking.

He looked into the First Emperor's eyes to make sure the other was listening.

"The Japanese pirates, also known as the Japanese chickens, breached Nanjing, the capital of the Chinese nation at the time. In just a few weeks, they murdered more than 300,000 civilians and prisoners of war. Women were raped, the elderly were beheaded, babies were impaled on bayonets, and they were buried alive, burned, and killed in contests—they used every means possible."

Meng Tian drew his sword again.

"Where are those beasts now?"

His voice was forced out of his throat.

The First Emperor raised his hand, signaling him to calm down.

Meng Tian stopped, the sword still in his hand, but his arm trembled slightly with anger, a kind of rage that had nowhere to be vented.

Luo Fei didn't look at Meng Tian; he looked at the First Emperor and continued, "The origin of the Japanese people is still inconclusive. However, there is one theory that is accepted by many scholars."

"The ancestors of the Japanese people were very likely the three thousand boys and girls that Xu Fu brought with him."

The First Emperor's eyes widened suddenly, and his pupils contracted sharply.

He lifted his hand from the table and slammed it heavily on the surface.

"Xu Fu. I sent him to find the elixir of immortality. He lied to me, saying that there was a fairy mountain in the sea, and that there was a fairy elixir on the mountain. I gave him three thousand boys and girls, seeds of five grains, a hundred craftsmen, and large ships."

His voice was cold, like a river flowing beneath the ice in winter—unseen, yet its biting chill was palpable.

"He used my people to slaughter my descendants and trample on my kingdom."

He lifted his hand from the table, clenched it into a fist, and slammed it on the surface.

The table shook, the bamboo slips jumped up, and the writing brush rolled off the brush holder and fell to the ground.

Meng Tian raised his hand from the hilt of his sword, bowed to the First Emperor, and spoke loudly.

"Your Majesty, I am willing to lead a small army across the sea to capture that old scoundrel Xu Fu and bring him back to Xianyang, where he will be torn to pieces to vent my hatred!"

The First Emperor glanced at Meng Tian.

"No rush. We can discuss Xu Fu's matter later. I still have questions for Mr. Luo."

Meng Tian lowered his hand, retreated to the straw mat, and sat down.

Luo Fei reached into his sleeve and took out a scroll from his ring.

He placed the scroll on the table and slowly unrolled it.

A map of the planet Blue Star appeared on the table. It was colorful, printed, and extremely precise, with mountains, rivers, oceans, and continents marked with the names of various countries and cities.

People in the Qin Dynasty did not recognize simplified Chinese characters, but they could understand the colors, shapes, and proportions on a map without needing to read the characters.

The First Emperor leaned forward, his eyes fixed on the map, his pupils darting across every corner of it.

He stretched out his hand, his fingers lightly tracing across the map, and looked up at Luo Fei with a question in his eyes.

"This is...?" His voice was a little unsteady.

Luo Fei pointed to the location of the Dragon Kingdom on the map and drew a circle around that area.

"This is His Majesty's Great Qin."

He drew an even bigger circle on the map with his hand.

"This is the territory of the Dragon Kingdom more than two thousand years later. It is much larger than that of the Qin Dynasty. However, compared to the whole world, the Dragon Kingdom is only a part of it."

The First Emperor's hand slowly moved across the map, from the location of the Dragon Kingdom to the location of the Japanese. His finger paused on that small island nation, and his fingernail lightly scratched the paper.

"This is the place. The descendants of Xu Fu slaughtered my descendants and trampled on my land."
