Director Qin's fingers tapped lightly on the solid wood table, producing a rhythmic tapping sound, as if keeping time for the important topic that was about to unfold.

Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the blinds, casting dappled shadows on him.

He nodded slightly, his deep gaze sweeping over Luo Fei opposite him, and said, "I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I've hardly slept these past few days. My mind is like a machine that keeps running non-stop, repeatedly filtering and comparing several timelines."

His tone carried a hint of weariness, yet it couldn't hide the solemnity in his heart.

Luo Fei leaned back in the wide chair, crossed his hands over his stomach, and looked calmly at Director Qin, his eyes showing no urging, simply waiting for him to continue.

Director Qin did not pick up any drafts or look through the documents on the table. It was clear that these plans had been repeatedly polished in his mind and were thoroughly memorized.

He cleared his throat and began to explain the first option.

"The first option is the Jurassic period."

He spoke slowly, his voice unconsciously carrying a hint of longing and reverie for that ancient, primordial era.

"During that period, Earth was the domain of dinosaurs, which were found in every corner of the planet. From the ferocious and awe-inspiring Tyrannosaurus Rex to the enormous and docile herbivorous Brachiosaurus, these behemoths ruled the entire planet, forming a powerful and wild ecosystem."

Director Qin's description seemed to transport the two of them back to that distant era, where the spectacular sight of dinosaurs roaming the plains appeared before their eyes.

"The plant species back then were also completely different from those today. Huge ferns blocked out the sun like towering trees, and the air was filled with a moist and primitive atmosphere. The climate was also vastly different from what it is now."

He paused, then continued, "If we could bring back dinosaur eggs, complete dinosaur specimens, and various ancient plant samples, you are probably well aware of the significance for biological, paleontological, and geological research. That would be a groundbreaking discovery that could rewrite the entire history of the discipline, and might even reshape our understanding of the evolution of life."

"We can also build a real Jurassic Park, hatch and breed various dinosaurs, and let people learn about that history of our planet while visiting."

His fingers paused on the table for a moment, as if he had completed a time jump across billions of years in his mind, then changed direction, and his tone changed from longing to seriousness.

"The second option is some key historical moments. Those periods that are recorded in history books but are vague in detail, or even full of controversy."

"For example, the Battle of Zhuolu between the Yellow Emperor and Chiyou, that ancient war that is said to have determined the direction of Chinese civilization, what exactly happened? Which tribes participated in the battle? Did they use simple stone tools, or did they have more advanced inventions? These are all mysteries waiting for us to unravel."

A look of inquiry gleamed in Director Qin's eyes.

"For example, whether the Xia Dynasty truly existed and its establishment process has always been a hotly debated topic in the archaeological community; and what exactly was the rise and fall of the mysterious Sanxingdui civilization? What unknown cultural codes and belief systems are hidden behind those uniquely shaped bronze masks?"

"Besides the silk and grapes recorded in historical texts, what other items and technologies did Zhang Qian see and hear during his mission to the Western Regions, or were there any important discoveries buried by the dust of history?"

Director Qin became more and more engrossed in his speech, his eyes sparkling with an infinite longing for the truth of history.

"Written records from those eras are extremely rare, and many are just oral legends, which inevitably contain the imagination and embellishments of later generations."

"If we can personally observe, listen, and record on-site, the study of the history of the Dragon Kingdom can be pushed forward by at least hundreds or thousands of years, filling countless historical gaps and giving us a clearer understanding of the roots and origins of our nation."

He added.

"There are many tragic and regrettable events in history, and we all hope to have the opportunity to understand the truth and even change their fate."

Luo Fei tapped his fingers lightly on his knee, producing a dull sound. This subtle movement indicated that he was listening attentively and was deeply moved by Director Qin's words.

Director Qin continued, "The third option is the period of Japan's invasion."

When this period was mentioned, his voice became noticeably lower, carrying an undisguised heaviness and indignation, and the atmosphere in the office became solemn.

"If we choose this period, there are many more things to prepare. Dongfeng missiles and mushroom bombs are naturally indispensable, as are various advanced weapons production lines, as well as all kinds of scientific and technological data we have, and even detailed documents on the modern history of China. The specific list needs to be discussed and decided by the professors and academicians."

He paused for a moment, as if trying to calm his turbulent emotions, then looked up at Luo Fei with a deep and firm gaze. Without waiting for Luo Fei's response, he continued, "The fourth option is 76. That was the most painful year in the hearts of the people of the Dragon Kingdom. Several major events occurred that saddened the entire nation."

Luo Fei's brows twitched slightly, and a complex emotion flashed in his eyes. Clearly, this option had touched upon some thoughts and memories deep within him.

Director Qin didn't linger and continued, "The fifth option is Earth tens of thousands of years from now."

His voice carried a hint of bewilderment about the distant future, mixed with a touch of curiosity and a desire to explore.

"If the timeline could indeed be pushed forward by tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of years, what would Earth's civilization have been like then?"

"Does it still exist, and has it developed to a higher stage? Has it broken free from the constraints of Earth and ventured into the vast universe, carving out a new home in the expansive cosmos? Or has its civilization perished in some sudden catastrophe, leaving only ruins and cold, silent rocks to tell of its former glory?"

"Exploring that era allows people on Earth today to see the path of the future in advance and judge whether we should continue to move forward in the current direction or adjust our development strategy as soon as possible to avoid possible crises and disasters."

Director Qin concluded.

After listening, Luo Fei fell silent, his fingers unconsciously rubbing against his knees as he fell into deep thought.

The timelines listed by Director Qin cover ancient times, history, modern times, contemporary times, and the future. While they partially overlap with the directions he had previously envisioned, Director Qin's considerations are clearly more comprehensive and in-depth, and he has also raised some angles that he had not thought about deeply.

After a long while, Luo Fei finally spoke, "You're right. These directions are all worth exploring in depth, and each one could bring immeasurable and enormous gains."

"But the specific choice, and how to choose, does require more professional personnel to conduct a comprehensive evaluation from various fields and carefully weigh the pros and cons. After all, we only have two choices left."

He paused, his eyes hardening, and made a decision: "Immediately convene a meeting of experts from various fields to discuss this matter. Let them offer their professional opinions and suggestions so that we can make the wisest choice."

Director Qin nodded, a look of approval on his face, and said, "That's what I thought too. One of the slots will be decided by the experts after thorough discussion, taking into account all factors to select the best solution."

"As for the other column..."

Director Qin changed the subject and looked at Luo Fei.

"That's entirely up to you. Just fill it in whenever you've decided. We'll then do our best to prepare the necessary supplies based on your chosen timeframe."

Luo Fei responded with a "Okay," offering no objections.

This trust made him feel a greater sense of responsibility, but it also strengthened his resolve to make the right choice.

Director Qin picked up the thermos on the table and took a sip of warm tea.

As he put down the cup, his fingers lingered lightly on the rim, as if he had suddenly remembered something, and his expression instantly turned serious.

"Oh, right, there's one more thing."

He looked at Luo Fei and said in a serious tone, "The court has already issued its verdict on your aunt's ex-husband's side."
