Chapter 112 Two Combat Technique Books

You can buy scale armor with money, and you can use points to exchange for other hard-to-obtain items, such as skill books. At least, I didn't see any places selling skill books in the Adventure District.

Linsel chose the [Colossus] skill book, worth 100 points.

Further enhance your physical strength to match your monster abilities. As long as you are tough enough, with the help of [Physical Regeneration], you are expected to be able to recover while being attacked. The only drawback may be that you still cannot completely avoid pain.

There are 60 points remaining.

After some consideration, I realized that the skill book for [Armor-Piercing Crossbow] requires exactly 60 points, so I'll take it too. That way, I'll have 160 points to get two combat skill books.

After finishing his consideration, Lindsay looked around.

"I selected two books, where do I pay?"

"Have you made your choice? If you have, give it to me, and I'll hand it to the counter on the first floor," one of the guards, a short man, answered Lindsay's question.

Just to be on the safe side, he decided to double-check and asked.

"Okay, but are you a guild guard? I want to ensure the rewards are obtained safely and effectively. How can I prove your identity?"

The other person was taken aback at first, then smiled with relief and pointed to the standard chainmail he was wearing.

"Adventurer, you're making a lot of trouble. This outfit can't fool you, can it? Besides, the fact that I'm in the guild's restricted reward area means my identity is genuine. Even if someone wanted to tamper with it, it would be very difficult."

The reward area is not only manually monitored by a few guards like us, but also protected by a hidden barrier. Nothing can be taken out without the guild's permission; an alarm will be triggered immediately if anyone leaves the guild area.

Furthermore, even if we wanted something, we wouldn't take skill books. It takes an average person three or four years to master something like that; it's too much trouble.

After handing the two booklets to the short guard, he checked the skill books first, then went into an inner room on the second floor.

After waiting for a few minutes, Lindsay received a message that he had successfully obtained the reward.

"Alright, adventurer, go down to the lobby to collect it."

Linsel left the rewards area and went downstairs. He received the two skill books he had exchanged from the counter staff and immediately began to carefully look through them.

The key to learning the [Colossus] combat skill is to train your body according to the method described above, which looks like a high-intensity workout; the key to [Armor-Piercing Arrow] is simply practicing archery, but the book recommends using armored training targets as the best targets.

"Captain, you changed two skill books. Let me see what they are and learn them." "Broken Arrow" was very curious when he saw how focused Linsel was on the books.

"What a pity. One book is about warrior profession skills, and the other is about crossbow combat techniques. You use a bow, so it probably won't be very effective."

Even after hearing Lindsay's explanation, "Broken Arrow" still seemed somewhat unwilling to give up.

"Crossbow? Crossbows and bows do have some similarities. Learning crossbow combat techniques might allow you to gain insights into other areas and achieve cross-disciplinary understanding."

"Come on, Brinan, this won't work. Otherwise, I would have already asked you for the [Triple Shot] technique. It's because it's a bow technique, and it's very difficult to learn."

But I can learn it whenever I have free time... Come on, I've just decided, let's go get our equipment now.

The two returned to the Kachiton armor shop, where the burly owner immediately greeted Lin Sai as he entered.

"Have you thought it through? 'Wolf Slayer,' I know you've got your eye on this heavy scale armor in our shop. I can sell it to you for 10 silver coins, or 1 gold for 30 silver. How about it?"

"Oh, how come it's suddenly cheaper again?" Lindsay was a little incredulous.

"You're 'The Wolf Slayer,' right? Seeing that dented helmet on your head earlier, I thought you were one of those people who fought against the cult yesterday. I just found out it really is you."

You've protected our Wind and City, that's a great achievement, so giving you a little discount isn't unreasonable."

"It was just a few cult members we beat up, nothing serious."

The burly boss got excited when he heard Linsel's modesty.

"It's not just a few cultists. The thing that has bothered us residents of Wind and City the most in recent months has been completely resolved by you last night. That must be a great thing!"

In reality, those cultists would eventually be dealt with by nobles or even more powerful adventurers if left unchecked. The real problem lies with the refugees surrounding the city; their presence has caused a lot of trouble.

"The nobles wouldn't bother with such elaborate measures to deal with people like these, but your attack yesterday actually caught the attention of the higher-ups, and even solved the problem of these refugees. This is truly a great thing."

After listening, "Broken Arrow" nodded: "If this problem is really as serious as you say, boss, and we have solved it, then it is indeed a good thing. No wonder the captain was praised by many people in the Adventurers' Guild before."

"Alright, enough of that, boss. Hand over the heavy armor to me now. Here's one gold coin and thirty silver coins."

Linsset took out money from his purse, and the shopkeeper accepted it. Then he took out a small booklet.

"Wolf Slayer, whether you like the word or not, since you've purchased heavy armor from this shop, I have to recommend this book, 'Wearing and Maintaining Heavy Armor.' You could even call it a book of hidden combat techniques. It'll only cost you 2 silver coins, how about it?"

"Is it really that amazing to call it a 'Hidden Combat Techniques Manual'?"

"Of course, there are many intricacies involved in armor."

Linsel, filled with curiosity, took the booklet handed to him by the owner of the Kachton armor shop and began to read it. Although the contents were somewhat simplistic and rough, the writing was indeed as the title suggested.

Although this book cannot be called a skill book, it feels similar to travel guides or cooking books, and at 2 silver coins, it's not expensive. Even if it's a cheap item, it's still worth it.

"Okay, boss, I'll take it."

After receiving the heavy armor, Linssey put it on right there in the shop. The burly shop owner even gave him some tips on how to wear the heavy armor properly.

Wearing the Linssé scale armor felt slightly heavy and uncomfortable.

Once you've fully mastered the techniques for wearing heavy armor, it should get easier once you get used to it.

He admired himself in the fitting mirror; the thick, interspersed metal plates on his nails gave him a unique sense of security.

At this moment, "Broken Arrow" said from the side, "Thank you, boss. Now that Captain Linssey is wearing this scale armor, he looks like he has already crossed the threshold of becoming a high-level adventurer."

"Well, we're currently missing a heavy-duty helmet and gauntlets," Lindsay remarked casually.

"Adventurer, need any other protective gear? We have plenty of heavy helmets and gauntlets, as well as visored helmets, pointed helmets, chainmail gloves, and scale armor gloves. Take a look at this one..."
