Chapter 115 Phantom Ghost

The sword struck the opponent, and a white light immediately emerged from the wound, instantly filling the surrounding area.

Lindsay's eyes stung from the white light; he squinted and focused his vision again.

As if in a dream, the surrounding white mist disappeared, and when his vision cleared, Linsel saw a small, hunched, stone-green monster, less than a meter tall, jumping around in front of him.

This guy must be the Phantom!

Linsset raised his long-handled sword and slashed, but his opponent nimbly dodged to the side, then opened his mouth and exhaled a cloud of incomprehensible breath, lunging at Linsset.

Faced with this strange white gas, Lindsay cautiously retreated and avoided it.

He glanced at the surrounding terrain out of the corner of his eye and saw a second phantom ghost, and then a third one.

The second and third ones were both around the "broken arrow," positioned one in front of the other, constantly exhaling white vapor towards the "broken arrow."

Meanwhile, his teammate "Broken Arrow," standing a few meters away, was motionless, enveloped in white gas, seemingly under control.

"Brinan!"

Linsset shouted, but to no avail.

He then brandished his transforming two-handed sword to drive away the two phantom ghosts, and at the same time kicked "Broken Arrow" away.

His teammate was kicked to the side by Linsel. After being freed from the strange white gas, he covered his head and immediately regained consciousness.

"What just happened to me... Captain, something's wrong!"

"Hurry and help these monsters!"

Linsel stared intently at the three phantom ghosts in front of him. They seemed to have been coordinating beforehand, and their movements were incredibly agile. Several of his attacks had failed to hit them.

Since we can't hit with two swords, let's try using magic to see if that works.

Linsel fired a flaming arrow with his left hand, aiming it straight at one of the phantoms opposite him.

The phantom ghost shuddered in fright at the sudden attack of fire, but reacted extremely quickly. It ducked down and flashed like an illusion, swiftly dodging the fire trick before reappearing on the side.

Blink? That's a bit overpowered. And at this distance, it can even dodge fire arrows. This monster is getting interesting.

Just then, an arrow, whistling through the air, seized the opening and shot towards the phantom ghost.

When the hunchbacked monster saw the arrow coming, it tried to use the same trick again, flashing to the side to dodge the arrow, but the timing and speed of the arrow were perfect.

The phantom ghost couldn't dodge in time; the arrow pierced its chest, and it was simultaneously knocked backward by the force of the impact.

Lindsay immediately stepped forward to finish the job, and Brand's battle sword severed the head of the monster that had fallen to the ground.

Well done, "Broken Arrow"! You've gained your twenty-fourth monster ability!

"Broken Arrow" took three arrows from behind and nocked them on his bow: "Kids, try out my new combat technique."

The longbow was drawn swiftly, and three arrows were fired at the remaining two phantom ghosts.

Unfortunately, the aim was a bit off, and the three arrows went in different directions, being dodged by the two monsters.

"I'm sorry, Captain, my combat skills are not fully mastered yet."

Lindsay dropped Brand's sword and drew the iron sword from its sheath.

To deal with this agile, hunchbacked monster, it seems I'll have to use my proficient one-handed swordsmanship.

The two phantom ghosts opposite did not show any fear when they saw one of their companions killed by Linsel.

They stood on the left and right, opening their mouths wide and spewing out large plumes of white mist that instantly enveloped and concealed their respective emerald-green bodies, forming two large, irregular white mists several meters in diameter.

"Broken Arrow" shot two arrows into one of the clouds of smoke, but it had no effect.

"Watch out, Captain, don't get close to those two plumes of white smoke."

Linsel looked at the white gas and smoke opposite him, pondering how to deal with it.

White mist, what kind of dirty trick is this going to pull now? Well, since this monster can release smoke, I'll use the new ability I just acquired to release a [Battle Smoke].

As for how Brinnan explains it, his various abilities will be exposed sooner or later anyway, and since he's one of their own, there's no need to worry too much.

Linsel concentrated, and then, as if guided by a divine hand, the method for using the new monster's ability immediately appeared in his mind.

He opened his mouth and felt a large mass of gas churning in his stomach, like a burp. He immediately exhaled green smoke.

The green mist gradually filled the surroundings, and Lin Se continued to exhale, forming a phantom-like smoke in just a few seconds.

"Captain, what... what is this? Is it your magic?"

I'll tell you later.

Lindsay was enveloped in smoke, still exhaling plumes of smoke from his mouth.

The good news was that his body had adapted to the smoke, and his throat did not feel uncomfortable in it. Although the smoke obscured his vision, he could still vaguely see the white mist on the other side through the small gaps in the smoke, so he rushed towards one of the clouds on the other side.

When the two enemies opposite saw Linsel also release smoke, the two white clouds of smoke immediately gathered together, and at this moment the smoke on both sides merged together.

The two plumes of smoke mixed, further reducing visibility, and Linsset was now finding it difficult to see what lay ahead.

As the white smoke from the phantom gradually touched Linsel, he felt a slight pain in his head, and an unknown white light flickered in his vision, somewhat interfering with his sight.

Fortunately, the "Battle Smoke" he released reduced the concentration of the white gas; otherwise, he and "Broken Arrow" might have been controlled by the hunchbacked monster's white gas and entered a world of mental illusion, just like before.

"Brinan, keep an eye on the smoke!" Lindsay yelled again.

"good!"

After settling "Broken Arrow," Linse, amidst the smoke, heard the Phantom Ghost's hoarse cough. At the same time, through his "sensitive sense of smell," he also detected the approximate location of the two monsters, which seemed to be just a few meters ahead in the smoke.

Gripping his iron sword tightly, Linsel took two large steps forward. At the same time, relying on his sense of smell, he guessed that the Phantom Ghost was moving in the smoke, and he immediately swung his sword.

Swish.

The slicing sensation in his hand told Linsel that he had struck a phantom ghost.

"Hiccup..."

The monster emitted a strange, painful sound as it coughed. Linsel, using the sound to pinpoint the location, swung his hard iron sword down again.

He felt as if he had chopped off the head of a monster!

The metal plate on my chest hissed, and I suddenly felt an impact on my back.

Linsel was thrown back a few steps by the impact. Within a meter's distance, he finally saw clearly that the two claws of the remaining phantom were lunging at him.

Linsel quickly raised his iron sword to block, but the opponent's claws grazed the sword before disappearing into the smoke.
