Chapter 26 The Troubles of the Squad

Linchui Town, Guild Tavern.

Lindsay and Calle walked out of the guild office.

The mission was completed, and he gained 8 points. His money bag contained 22 silver coins, 2 of which were from recycling the nameplates of bronze-level adventurers.

I've experienced this twice now; it's kind of darkly humorous.

Linssey learned about the "Sharp Teeth" squad.

For a team officially registered with the guild to change members, both the team leader and the person making the change must come in person, or bring their team badge, to the guild in the city to make the change.

The itinerant guilds in towns and some villages are not capable of doing this kind of thing.

He handed over the badge given to him by the goblin adventurer, and after verification, it became the team emblem, but he couldn't become the team leader immediately.

The team emblem can only ensure the survival of the unmanned [Sharp Teeth] squad.

Guild member Gina also said that the squad leader has to pay a certain maintenance fee every month based on the squad's level.

The [Sharp Teeth] team is a Gold-level team, and they need to pay a maintenance fee of 1 gold coin every six months. This year is the second half of the year, and it seems that they haven't paid it yet!

One gold coin equals 100 silver coins; this is really troublesome.

Regarding the sudden attack by "Scarface," after Gina explained the situation to the guild member Gina in detail, the member immediately stated that the guild would send an investigator to investigate the matter.

"Are they starting to suspect us?" Kaller said, somewhat displeased.

"Who knows? Maybe there are just more guys with bad character."

Lindsay then asked Caller, "Who are these inspectors the guild is talking about? Have you met them?"

"I saw him once in the village when I was a child. I remember him quite well. He was a man riding a big horse and wearing full iron armor."

This inspector sounds quite professional.

"Narinse, I'm leaving now. I'll remember you. The village is near the town; you can come visit Linxi Village sometime!"

After saying goodbye to Cale, Lindsay found a seat in a bustling tavern.

"Boss, a bowl of lentil soup, please!" a townsman shouted, glancing at Linse.

"I'll have the green meal."

"Here you are."

Lilia ran to the table with the menu in her hand: "Brother Linsel, what kind of salad would you like to order for your green set meal?"

"Let me see... I'd like a large mushroom salad."

"That's 80 copper coins in total."

After making a note, Lilia jogged back to the kitchen, while Lindsay collapsed onto the wooden table.

The intense battle scenes from a few hours ago, along with the figures of the goblin adventurers and Kaller, and "Scarface," were now playing on a loop in my mind like a movie.

The "Flat-Nosed" goblin, the ninth, and then himself the tenth, is also the only remaining member of this nominally defunct squad.

Am I alone again?

With only one person left, the team's existence seemed meaningless, but "Flat Nose's" last wish was probably to ensure the survival of the [Sharp Teeth] team.

I remember him saying that this was a team with a long history, and he probably really didn't want it to end during his term.

Linsel scratched his head, feeling quite troubled by the high maintenance fees.

Actually, I don't really understand what advantages there are in officially registering a team with a guild.

A greater reputation? Or something else entirely? Let's leave that for now and ask about it later.

At this moment, Lilia also brought over the green set meal: a large plate of mushroom salad, two pieces of dark bread, a bowl of crispy dried fruit, and a glass of ale.

Linsset picked up a glass of ale and downed it in one gulp. The ale was like water, with a faint hint of hops as it went down his throat.

"Two more glasses of ale, please."

"Coming right away!" Lilia smiled and skipped back.

"Lincei, it's good to see you again."

Lindsay looked up and saw that it was Claire, the bronze adventurer, who had somehow ended up sitting across from him at the table.

"What have you been doing these past two days?"

"Don't even mention it. I did a goblin lair quest, it was dangerous the whole time, and someone even died..."

"Someone's dead?" Claire asked, somewhat surprised. "Who died?"

"It's 'Flat Nose,' the goblin adventurer we attacked the bandit camp last time. 'Scarface' is dead too. That guy was a demon..."

……

The next morning, Linsset woke up in the wooden shed.

I drank a lot of ale yesterday, and after a good night's sleep, all my bad mood has vanished, and it's a new day.

There was a longsword and a dented nose guard in the corner. He hadn't gone to the blacksmith's shop yesterday because no one was there; there should be someone there today.

This longsword was a bit longer than his original iron sword, but the craftsmanship was quite ordinary, so he planned to sell it.

The bone plates hidden in the Twilight Forest have not yet been retrieved.

The breastplate of the wolfskin armor still needs to be repaired at the tailor shop.

I fired eight fire arrows during yesterday's battle, and I felt like I could fire one more. Judging from my stats, it's probably related to my 9 points in constitution.

This also needs to be verified.

As for that tattered [Heavy Strike] combat skill book, you can go to Instructor Rhodes to see if you can learn it.

There's so much to do.

Linsset got up and prepared to load bolts into his crossbow.

He discovered that he had run out of crossbow bolts, but there was a small packet of white candles on the ground that he had bought the day before.

"Oh, I forgot to buy crossbow bolts yesterday, I only bought this candle."

He hadn't forgotten his newly acquired monster ability, so he spent some copper coins at the market to buy these candles and also prepared wooden branches to use for activating the shaman monster summoning spell.

It seems a ritual is still needed. What should the ritual involve? Should it be like that goblin shaman from yesterday, swaying back and forth and making random noises?

As Lindsay pondered, a bold idea suddenly popped into his head.

If you summon some new monsters using this monster summoning spell, and then kill them, wouldn't you gain new monster abilities?

Lindsay grew increasingly excited, but the description of the monster's abilities dampened his enthusiasm.

If you summon a monster with a threat level of 3 or higher, you might not be able to defeat it, and that monster might even turn around and attack you.

He can't kill an ogre, a monster with a threat level of 3.5, by himself yet.

There are still risks, but I feel the potential rewards outweigh the risks! I'll give it a try once I've finished dealing with my current tasks.

Linsset walked out of the wooden shed and headed toward the blacksmith's shop.

He remembered that the blacksmith's owner was a dwarf with a braided beard.

The reason he hadn't been to the blacksmith's shop many times was that his iron sword was quite good and durable, and the iron armor was relatively expensive, which he couldn't afford for the time being.

Moreover, the leather armor that Old Zane made for him was quite good.

However, I now have 40 silver coins in my purse, which is a small amount of money. I can go to the blacksmith's shop today to see if there are any good items.

After passing through the bustling market, Linssey arrived at the blacksmith's shop.

As soon as you get close, a fiery aura emanates from it.

Clang, clang, clang.

The sound of hammering continued, and a muscular man emerged from the blacksmith's shop. He saw Lindsay.

"Are you here to do business? The boss just returned to town last night and is in the shop right now."
