Chapter 57 Troll Control
"Back off! Back into the village!"
It was Wood's voice. Upon hearing it, Lindsay and the other two Silver-ranked adventurers also retreated. At the same time, the goblins suddenly became excited.
Whether they were ordinary goblins, wolf rider goblins, or slightly larger ones, they all huddled behind the ogres and trolls, chattering noisily, waiting for the trolls to launch the first attack.
After understanding their own situation and the surrounding circumstances, the four giants did not attack the village directly, but simply stood still.
Lindsay did not hear the heavy footsteps of the giants in pursuit. He glanced back and saw that the giants were still standing in the same place.
Lindsay turned around and slowly backed away, this strange phenomenon piquing his curiosity.
At this moment, saliva was dripping from the ogre's mouth, and drool was constantly flowing from the troll's mouth.
"Hunger...food..."
"The food is in the back..."
The troll's broken Common tongue reached Linsel's ears, and he saw the troll suddenly grab backward without warning.
The goblins behind them hurriedly jumped away with screams, but two unfortunate ones still couldn't dodge and were grabbed and put directly into their mouths, instantly turning into mincemeat.
Lindsay remembered the [Shaman Monster Summoning] spell he had previously acquired.
It seems that this troll's gluttonous nature is similar to that of an ogre, and it appears to be beyond the control of goblins.
The ogres also became restless. Seeing that the trolls next to them had already eaten meat, they all roared loudly.
"Aww!!!"
The four goblin shamans were at a loss when Linse saw an old goblin dressed in clothes made of leaves and vines emerge from the darkness behind them.
Like the shaman, this goblin held a short wooden staff, pointed it forward, and let out a strange cry.
What is this, casting a spell?
Lindsay opened the panel.
[Goblin High Priest, Monster, Health 40/40, Armor: 40/40 (Natural Grass Armor)]
Goblin High Priest? That sounds like a powerful name.
This goblin raiding party was able to organize itself and had certain tactics, so it seems that the goblin high priest was in charge, and he must be the leader of these goblins.
When the goblin shamans saw the high priest holding the wooden staff, they seemed to have received some kind of instruction and gathered around.
They began their eerie goblin dance again, a dance that seemed to have an effect on the howling ogres.
"Powerful... must obey..."
The ogres suddenly calmed down, and a few seconds later the troll did the same. These giants faced the village and began to slowly approach with heavy steps.
Successfully brought under control?
Linsset retreated to the large iron gate, at which point the sound of "goats" came from the wooden fence next to the gate.
"Squad leader, come in quickly!"
Linssey ran through the iron gate, and several militiamen closed the large iron gate and inserted a thick bolt.
"Mr. Will, I just saw an old goblin outside wearing strange vine clothing. What was that?"
"Old goblin? More like a shaman." Will asked, somewhat puzzled.
"It's the Goblin High Priest," the robed mage said, flipping through the Goblin Compendium. "He's a core member of the goblin group, the leader of their large-scale operations."
"Three, two, one... What other information is in your encyclopedia?"
The sheriff directed the archers to fire arrows outside, and upon hearing of the goblin high priest's presence, he calmly inquired.
However, Lindsay still caught a hint of unease in his speaking speed.
"Forget about high priests or low priests, if they dare to ram the door, you humans come and help! Just hold it off with me!"
The dwarf's deep voice cut in from beside the large iron gate, interrupting the conversation.
"The Goat" also spoke up: "But I'm wondering, although this wooden fence is very tight, can it withstand the attacks of those giants?"
"It doesn't matter," a militiaman holding a short bow answered his question from beside the wooden fence.
This militiaman was none other than Kale: "The wooden fence protecting Linxi Village was built at great expense, with a high-level mage casting enhancement magic; ordinary forces cannot destroy it!"
Enhancement magic? Linsel had always thought the wooden fence was just a temporary defensive structure, and he had a vague sense of unease after the battle began.
However, now that I've heard from Kale that there's this enhanced magical protection, I wonder how effective it will be.
Judith, the female knight-errant, stood on the wooden fence platform, full of confidence.
"Ogres, they're so clumsy! I'm confident I can blind them with an arrow!"
"Alright, adventurers of the Iron Fang, I know you are strong, please let your teammates finish speaking first."
Will gestured to the mage who had paused, and the latter read from the booklet in his hand again: "The Goblin Compendium says that if you fight the Goblin High Priest, you must kill it as soon as possible, otherwise it will be very troublesome..."
"What's the trouble?"
"Sir, our arrows don't seem to be having much effect on those giants!"
The one who was loudly reporting was the militiaman Calle by the wooden fence, and at that moment, Will realized what trouble he was in.
"Let me see for myself."
He climbed onto the wooden platform, and in his line of sight, the ogres less than a hundred meters away were riddled with arrows, their bodies and tattered leather armor pierced with them, but the arrows did not slow their advance.
The goblins behind the trolls followed slowly, their positions spread out, seemingly to minimize casualties from the arrow rain.
"I'll do it." Judith's arrow had already been fired, and a moment later, an ogre covered its wounded right eye and let out a painful roar.
"Well done, Judith!"
Wood, standing below the platform, loudly praised his teammates. He, along with the dwarf Ink and seven or eight adventurers and militiamen of various kinds, were blocking the large iron gate, ready to hold it open and stop the giant at any moment.
"Concentrate your firepower on those three ogres in the front!"
Arrows continued to rain down from the village, but the ogres pressed on, using their thick arms to block the arrows.

[Ogre, Monster, Health: 343/450, Armor: 11/80 (Ragged Monster Leather Armor, Bone Plates), Minor Torso Wounds]
Linsel also pulled out his crossbow and fired. Three bolts flew towards the ogres, accurately hitting one of them in the head, but without causing much damage.
"Ogres have thick hides, this crossbow is too weak and won't work."
When they were less than fifty meters from the large iron gate, the three ogres began to unleash a series of terrifying battle cries.
"Plug your ears!" The sheriff frowned, struggling to endure the enemy's sonic attack from the [war cry].
The guards, militia, and Black Iron-level adventurers were severely affected by the [Battle Cry]. They collapsed to the ground in pain, temporarily losing their ability to fight.
Most of the arrows fired by the people stopped, and the ogres also stopped in their tracks.
They pulled out thick javelins from behind and hurled them toward the village.
