Chapter 66 Gold Coins

He was wearing a uniquely styled wolfskin armor, with a few strands of black hair peeking out from under his wolf-head hat. He also carried several pieces of equipment on his back, indicating that he had great stamina.

The bronze adventurer nameplates on the chests of the three men indicated that they were bronze-level adventurers.

Tang Li saw the three people walk past him, and on a whim, he called out to them.

"Seniors, could you lend me two silver coins? I'm a newbie who wants to start an adventure, but I don't have enough money to register as an adventurer."

"Are you a child who grew up in Linchui Town? I've never seen you before." The one who answered was the blue-haired adventurer, none other than "Broken Arrow" Brinnan.

The remaining two bronze-level adventurers are Lindsay and Claire.

The other person answered honestly, "I moved here from Wind and City a few years ago."

"Oh, no wonder, I wasn't in Linchui Town at that time."

"Little brother, what's your name? And why do you want to become an adventurer?" Claire asked in a gentle tone.

"My name is Tom. I've had an adventure dream since I was little. I want to see the world, learn a skill, and leave this country..."

"Understood," the "Phantom" pulled out two silver coins from his person. "Here you go..."

"Wait a minute." Just as Claire was about to hand over the silver coins, Lindsay stepped forward and grabbed her slender arm.

"Claire, we can't give it to him."

"Why? It would be fine to lend it to him." The female vagrant quickly broke free, feeling somewhat puzzled.

"Adventurers don't earn money easily. I can tell you don't usually save any money, which is one of the reasons. Let me ask around and decide if it's suitable before we talk about it."

"Senior, this lady has already agreed to give me the money, why are you stopping her?"

Lindsay paused slightly in response to the other party's question.

"Well, I'm the team leader, and she's a member, so she has to listen to me. I don't think I can give it to you; there have to be conditions."

Claire's face was flushed, while Tang Li was clearly unhappy.

"What are the conditions?"

"Do me a favor, just run an errand to deliver something. It's around Linchui Town, not far. I can have her give you silver coins after I'm done."

"Broken Arrow" looked at Lin Sai, and the two exchanged a knowing smile.

Lindsay planned that after the deed was done, he would have Claire give the young man, who was not yet an adventurer, 2 silver coins directly, not as a loan.

Borrowing money inevitably means repaying it, and he doesn't want to have any connection with people who can't help him.

Tang Li thought about it for a moment and then agreed.

"However, this favor isn't something you need to do right now. Our [Sharp Teeth] team is about to turn in a mission. You can wait at the table over there for now, and we'll call you when we're done."

"Okay."

Linsley and his two companions then headed straight for the guild office, where Gina opened the door.

"Newcomers in front of the task board at the entrance, please be quiet. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me."

"We can't understand what's written on the mission instructions, what should we do?"

"Yes, yes, why should adventurers need to learn to read? Shouldn't they be actively preparing for battle?"

Gina sighed.

"To become a qualified adventurer, literacy is essential. Otherwise, you won't even be able to understand the quest logs, and even if you have exceptional combat skills, it won't be of much use."

The guild offers classes for adventurers who are illiterate and lack basic arithmetic skills. There are classes in Linchui Town; you can sign up for a fee of 2 silver coins.

The two porcelain-level adventurers sighed in despair upon hearing that they would be asked for money again.

"Why do you want more money? We already spent 2 silver coins just to register."

"Is that training course useful? If it's not, then it's better not to learn it at all."

"It's so noisy, newlyweds, get out of the way."

Linsel sternly rebuked the two porcelain-level newcomers in front of him, who were stunned by his voice and fell silent.

"Ginavie, we went straight back to town to rest yesterday and didn't come to collect our reward, so we've come to collect it today."

"Oh, Lindsay, I know you," the other person replied with a smile, his expression softening considerably. "Come into the office. The rewards for your goblin extermination mission this time were quite generous, including compensation."

"There really is compensation? How come I didn't know?" Claire was very surprised.

Lindsay: "Of course, it's normal that you didn't know since you were so busy attending the village banquet yesterday."

Inside the guild office, Gina scanned the three adventurer nameplates one by one on the machine.

"30 points and 120 silver coins per person."

"120 silver coins?" Claire exclaimed excitedly.

"Yes, the Adventurers' Guild has found that there was a flaw in this mission, which caused the adventurer challenge recommendation level given in the mission book to be inconsistent with the enemy's actual strength."

Therefore, the guild will double the rewards for all adventurers who survived this mission as compensation.

"Wait a minute, we have another member in our [Sharp Teeth] team, 'Goat' Reginald, who is injured and disabled and unable to come. As the team leader, I'd like to collect the mission reward on his behalf."

"No, unless he comes in person, or his adventurer's badge comes. The guild will recognize the person first, and then the badge, but it cannot be claimed by someone else. Otherwise, it will be dealt with according to the laws of the kingdom."

Lindsay pulled out the middle-aged adventurer's nameplate from his person: "I brought it."

I spoke with Uncle "Goat" yesterday afternoon, and he was very reassured and handed over his nameplate in advance.

"That's fine too."

After scanning the middle-aged adventurer's nameplate, Gina took out four glittering gold coins and some copper coins, and distributed them to the three.

This was the first time Lindsay had received a gold coin.

The obverse of the gold coin features the portrait of the current king, while the reverse depicts a majestic lion. It feels wonderful to hold, which pleases him greatly.

One gold coin has the purchasing power of 10000 copper coins, enough to eat black bread for nearly five years!

Of course, his main purpose is to improve himself, and now he can use this gold coin to buy some useful equipment and items.

After leaving the guild office, Claire said she had to go first, and the two said goodbye to her for the time being.

Linsel noticed that the two newcomers who had been at the porcelain level earlier were now sitting with Tang Li, staring at him with somewhat fearful eyes.

"Tangli, come here."

The latter immediately ran in front of him.

"You come with me now. I'm going to get that thing. You take it to the farm on the east side of town and hand it over to the person in charge there."

"I see."

"Captain, aren't we taking on any missions today?" Broken Arrow asked habitually from behind.

"Brinan, let's not take any more missions today. Take a few days off to rest and regroup. I'll let the tavern owner know if we'll be going on missions together later. Just ask him."

"Broken Arrow" scratched his head: "Yeah, 'Goat' can't be an adventurer anymore, I think I need to adjust my mindset too."

Linsel left the guild tavern, parted ways with "Broken Arrow," and led Tommy towards his wooden shed.
