Chapter 71 Caravan Leader Kent

The man in the black robe took out a palm-sized wooden box from his person and handed it to Lin Sai.

"Now that the goods have been delivered, I'll be leaving."

After saying that, the other person turned and left.

"What is this strange object?" "Broken Arrow" was also very interested.

Linsset opened the small wooden box and found a pure white feather inside, along with a small note.

The note contained information about the strange object, written in two languages: neat goblin script at the top and crooked human script at the bottom.

[Floating Feather, a one-time use item. When infused with magic, it allows the user to levitate and defy gravity for 10 seconds.]

Infuse it with magic? I'm a bit stumped.

When using the Flame Arrow, he can generate flames in his hand simply by thinking about it. However, he doesn't know how to inject his own magic power into the artifact, and he also doesn't know whether ordinary people possess magic power.

"This is a one-time use artifact; it requires the infusion of magic to be used. Brinnan, do you know how to infuse it?"

"Captain, aren't you good at magic tricks? If you don't understand, I don't understand either. We'll have to ask those sorcerers."

The only mage Linssey knows so far is Rolf, who was in the Iron Fang squad before.

"I don't quite understand either. Using magic tricks and infusing magic are two different things. I'll keep this for now and learn it later when I have the chance."

Linsel returned to his cabin, bringing with him the items he hadn't used last time, and then headed towards the south gate of Linchui Town with "Broken Arrow".

They stopped by the place where "Goat" lived and went in to visit him.

Linsley knocked on the door: "We'll be leaving Linchui Town for a while, Uncle 'Goat'."

"The Goat" sat up in bed. "Oh, where to, Wind and City?"

Lindsay nodded: "Yes, I'd like to go to the city and take a look."

"Broken Arrow" approached the other person and sat down on the edge of the bed: "We've taken on a mission to escort a caravan, 'Goat.' If you encounter any difficulties, have your son leave me a message at the Adventurers' Guild. Even though we're no longer teammates, I'll still help if I can."

"Goat" laughed and said, "It's kind of you to still remember me. Actually, I don't need anything. The reward from that mission last time is enough to live on for several years after retirement. As for the days to come, we'll talk about that later."

He then added, "Linse, the city is not like our small town. There are only about a dozen new faces every day. As a low-level adventurer, you should keep a low profile. Even if you are a well-known adventurer in the village, there are actually many in the city."

"Thank you so much, Uncle 'Goat'! Let's chat some more after I get back from the city!"

The two left the wooden house and arrived at the south gate of Linchui Town.

Four horse-drawn carriages, two of which were carrying goods, had been parked at the gate for some time.

Eight caravan guards, armed with muskets and shortbows, stood beside the first carriage. A man wearing a brightly colored feathered hood and a magnificent tunic stepped forward upon seeing Linssey and his companion arrive.

"You must be adventurers commissioned to escort our caravan, I am Kent, the caravan leader."

Lindsay replied, "Yes, you can call me 'The Wolf Slayer.' Are we ready to depart now?"

"Okay, let's go now."

"Mr. Kent, I remember that caravans going to Wind and City usually don't need guilds to send adventurers to escort them, right?" Broken Arrow asked with some doubt.

"As you probably know, it takes about two and a half days to travel from Linchui Town to Wind and City, and it's usually quite safe. However, recently there's been a goblin swarm in Linxi Village, making the road less safe, which is why we're hiring you."

After Linssey and his companion exchanged a few more brief introductions with the other party, three more Iron-level adventurers emerged from behind the carriage.

"Hey, look, two bronze-level adventurers have actually accepted an iron-level escort mission!"

"That's normal. Sometimes when they don't have many missions and are short on money, they might compete with us Iron-ranked players for missions..."

Two adventurers, armed with spears and shields and wearing cotton armor, were discussing something when a third adventurer, carrying a sword and shield, interrupted them.

"What are you saying? We're all in the same boat! Our mission this time is to protect the convoy. In fact, having two bronze adventurers helping us is a good thing."

Lindsay extended his hand to the sword-and-shield adventurer: "I hope we have a pleasant journey together!"

The other person smiled broadly and shook hands in return: "'Wolf Slayer,' I've long heard about your success in driving away the goblins in Forest Creek Village. Your performance was on par with a Silver-ranked adventurer. Truly impressive."

I just wonder if I'll run into those green-skinned guys on this trip; I think it's very likely.

I took on the same mission last week: escorting a carriage to Wind and City. On the way, we were harassed by more than a dozen goblins, but luckily the caravan had a lot of people and managed to drive them away.

"Alright, alright, enough chit-chat, let's get ready to hit the road, everyone get in the car!"

"Helmet Kent shouted, and Lindsay and his companion, along with three Iron-rank adventurers, boarded the second carriage."

The convoy slowly started moving, departing from the south gate of Linchui Town and traveling along the dirt road.

After the carriage had traveled for a while, Linse looked back and could no longer see the town of Linchui.

At this moment, he felt a surge of excitement. This was the first time he had left the small town where his original self lived since he transmigrated, and was beginning his journey into the outside world.

In the future, he plans to go to more places, to other cities, to the capital, to go abroad, and to travel to various places, visiting every settlement of intelligent races in the other world.

After driving for a while, the convoy soon stopped in the fields, at which point it was lunchtime.

"Brinan, in this desolate wilderness, do adventurers prepare their own lunch?" Linsel pulled a piece of black bread from his bag and whispered to "Broken Arrow."

"No, for missions like escorting caravans, they usually provide food, it's just cheaper."

"Dinner is ready!"

Kent beckoned to Lindsay and his companion. Several caravan guards had already lit a campfire by the wagon, and were boiling water and wheat bran porridge in a small pot to make wheat porridge soup. Of course, everyone was also given a piece of black bread.

"The caravan will provide a total of five meals, two meals a day, and one meal on the last half day. We hope all adventurers will not find this inconvenient."

After all, the journey is long, food is difficult to preserve and prepare, so we've gotten used to it and eat this kind of simple food.

Linsset took a bite of the dark bread and found it hard and unpalatable.

It seems that I've eaten too much delicious food before, and my taste has become too picky. Next time I prepare the team's daily meals, I should buy some other good food in addition to black bread.

"Captain, this crossbow on your back looks much better than your previous hand crossbow!" Broken Arrow took a sip of his wheat porridge and pointed at Linsel's newly bought crossbow.

"With this crossbow, even without the corresponding combat skills, you can still inflict some damage on the enemy."

As Linsel spoke, he checked his pulley crossbow again to make sure it was loaded.

After a simple lunch, the caravan guards extinguished the campfire, and everyone set off again.
