Chapter 82 The Pursuit of the Cultists

"Sir Knight, these cultists are holding out inside the wooden palisade. We tried to close in with a spear barrage, but they forced us out with their throwing knives."

Several people were injured by the throwing knives and are currently receiving treatment in the back.

In response to the guard's report, the female knight calmly replied, "I'll go up first. You few follow behind. Leave two of you to guard outside the wooden fence. Adventurers, support me with arrows."

"Yes, Sir Knight." "Broken Arrow" took a few steps back, drew his longbow, and aimed.

Linsel also raised his pulley crossbow and followed behind Karina and the guards.

When the three cultists saw Lindsay and "Broken Arrow" aiming at them from behind, they dodged to the side and hid behind a wooden fence that was more than two meters high.

"Damn it!" Broken Arrow shouted. He realized he could no longer shoot arrows from a distance, so he slowly moved forward.

The female knight, shielded by an iron fan, slowly advanced to the entrance of the courtyard. At that moment, several throwing knives flew towards her.

She raised her shield and moved forward, the throwing knives hitting the shield with a thud before falling to the ground.

A cultist sprinted quickly to Karina's right, intending to throw a throwing knife from the side.

Linsset witnessed the enemy's action, and immediately aimed his crossbow at the enemy and pulled the trigger.

The crossbow bolt shot out, and at the same time, the cultist's throwing knife flew towards the female knight from the side, piercing her breastplate.

However, just like the previous throwing knives that had been thrown at the shield, this one was deflected by the silver-white breastplate.

Just as the cultist was about to spit at the sight, Lindsay's crossbow bolt flew towards him, striking him in the abdomen and piercing through his leather armor before lodging in his front.

He cried out in pain, but did not fall down.

The other two cultists, finding that the throwing knives were no longer effective, took out their twin daggers again, preparing to scale the wooden fence and escape.

"They're escaping!" Broken Arrow arrived at Linsel's side at that moment, and at the same time, he redrawn his longbow.

"Don't rush, there are still guards outside the wooden fence who can hold them off for a while. 'Wolf Slayer,' you two go help those outside the fence, I'll take care of the injured one inside!"

Linssey and "Broken Arrow" understood each other and retreated back. In their line of sight, the two cultists had just climbed over the fence and were now being blocked from escaping by two guards with spears.

Seeing this, one of the cultists immediately pulled out a throwing knife again and hurled it at the two guards. Because of the close proximity, the guards couldn't dodge, and one guard, who wasn't wearing an iron helmet, fell to the head, struck by the knife.

The second guard was hit by a throwing knife in his chainmail and he kept retreating, while another cultist approached with two daggers.

"Broken Arrow" fired an arrow, which struck the back of the guard with a whistling sound. The guard's body lurched forward, but he immediately lunged at the guard again.

The opponent deftly dodged the guard's spear thrust with an arrow, while simultaneously stabbing the guard in the ribs with a dagger, drawing blood.

The poor guard screamed and fell into a pool of blood.

The female knight swiftly slashed and killed the cultist wounded by a crossbow bolt in the courtyard. Hearing the pained cries of the guards outside the wooden fence, she immediately circled back from the courtyard.

"They're getting away!" Lindsay shouted as he ran, reloading his crossbow. The two heretics had already disappeared at the other end of the alley.

"Quickly, after him!" Karina led several guards, closely following the adventurer "Broken Arrow" who was also running forward, in pursuit of the enemy.

Linsel rushed to the alley entrance, where wooden houses and stone buildings lined both sides. He saw the last cultist appear at the edge of another alley entrance.

But just then, a deep female shout erupted from the side of the alley. Linsel saw two heretics retreat from the entrance of the alley opposite and flee forward in a straight line.

A strong woman rushed out of the alley; she was the "Beast Blood Daughter," followed by "Iron Spear," who wielded a long spear.

"Broken Arrow" saw the enemy reappear in his field of vision, drew his longbow, and fired another arrow with [Long Shot].

The arrow flew forward in a parabola and struck a running cultist precisely in the back.

"What a great arrow!" shouted the strong woman in front, and she immediately lunged at the wounded cultist.

Lin Sai rushed over and saw that although the cultist was injured, he was still skillfully dodging the barbarian woman's twin swords. The strong woman slashed four times, but none of them hit her.

"I told you to hide!"

The female barbarian shouted and prepared to strike again. At that moment, the "iron spear" rushed past her from behind. The pointed spear flashed slightly and pierced the cultist, piercing him through his armor and body.

"Iron Spear, you're quite strong." The cultist coughed up blood and collapsed, while the female barbarian praised the silver-ranked adventurer beside her.

Linssey and "Broken Arrow" arrived at this moment. "Iron Spear" shook the blood off his spear and said, "It's just one of my spear techniques. Enough of this, let's hurry and chase after the last one!"

Four adventurers ran ahead, followed by a female knight and several guards, as they chased after the last remaining cultist, who had already vanished.

Linsel asked some citizens and other strangers along the way and learned that the strangely dressed cultist had just run past them and headed straight for the south of Wind and City.

"Where are 'Iron Spear' and 'Azure Chain'? Why weren't they with you?"

"That's right," the Silver-ranked adventurer replied, panting as he ran, to "Broken Arrow's" question, "We were just searching together in an area further south..."

She said she saw the shadow of a cult member, so we followed him, circling around the alley several times.

Then she said, "We need to... surround the cultist from the other side," and they separated, and then they saw the two cultists you were chasing.

"I see. Didn't you hear the guards shouting?"

"No, we're quite far apart."

Linssey and his three companions continued their pursuit, quickly asking passersby along the way. Those who answered quickly were pursued along the provided route, while those who answered slowly or refused to cooperate were ignored.

Finally, after turning several streets, Lindsay learned from a middle-aged passerby that the strange-looking cultist had rushed into a wooden house in the alley ahead of him and had not come out.

"Is that so, sir?"

"Yes, adventurer, go quickly and slay the cultists! We citizens all support you!"

At this moment, the female knight Karina and her guards caught up with the four adventurers and surrounded the door of the wooden house.

The barbaric woman kicked open the locked wooden door.
