The Black Bloodline of Hogwarts
Chapter 3 Magic Resonance Library
Alphad told Julien about the world of magic and wizards, about pure-blood families, about magical wars, about how he was expelled from his family, and about how he had kept things bottled up inside for decades.
Finally, looking at his grandson with complicated eyes, he said, "No matter where you come from, since magic has chosen you, you must learn to control it. Otherwise, you will only hurt yourself."
He took out a bottle of dark blue potion. "This is a calming potion; it will soothe magical fluctuations. Drink it."
Julien obediently drank it down, and a cool sensation spread from his throat to his whole body, calming the restlessness within him.
"The family's original plan was that after Christmas, due to family business, your parents would be returning to England, and you would go with them to study at a prestigious private school there. But now..."
"From tonight until you leave," Alphad said solemnly, "I will teach you some basic spells, magic control, and the history of the Black family—including the darkness and the light. But you must promise me two things."
"What?"
"First, never use magic in front of Muggles unless it's a matter of life and death. The wizarding world and Muggle society each have their own rules of operation. Don't try to break down the barriers, at least you don't need to."
"Secondly, next year you will need to study systematically at a magic school instead of a regular Muggle high school. I know you are precocious and have had your own opinions since you were very young. But now the plan has to change. Of course, I respect your choice, but I hope you choose magic."
Julien was silent for a moment, then nodded. He fully understood that this was the world of Harry Potter, though he also had other secrets.
Alfred finally smiled. He took his grandson's hand and led him to the skylight. Moonlight streamed onto the vineyard, making the entire land appear as if it were immersed in silvery liquid.
“Look,” he pointed toward the constellation Aquila, “that’s Altair, your father’s name. And you, Caelum, are there, the sculptor—the constellation that can sculpt the stars.”
The winery's celebrations continued that evening. Champagne glasses clinked, and laughter filled the air.
Inside the secret chamber, 10-year-old Schilling-Julien Black, holding his grandfather's wand, uttered for the first time: "Lumos."
A faint light shone from the tip of the staff, illuminating a line of almost worn-down Latin inscription on the wall:
"Sanguis non facit, sed eligit."
(What shapes a person is not bloodline, but choice.)
-----------------
As autumn faded in 1990, the vineyards of Bordeaux embraced the tranquility of winter, and time quietly slipped away amidst the interplay of magic and reality.
Julien's life was thus divided in two.
By day, he was a quiet young gentleman at the Black Vines winery, completing his Muggle lessons with a tutor from England. The tutor adjusted Julien's schedule to ensure a seamless transition to the English education system.
When night falls, or in the quiet of the afternoon, he would follow his grandfather Alfander into the secret chamber engraved with star maps and runes to begin his magical training.
Alphad's teaching was rigorous and patient, starting with the most basic perception of magic, teaching Julien how to gather and control the magic scattered in his body.
At first, Julien's magic was always difficult to tame. His "Wingardium Leviosa" (levitation spell) could only make the feathers tremble half an inch off the ground, and they would fall down in less than three seconds, or they would go up and down uncontrollably.
When Julien practices the "Scourgify" spell, he sometimes loses control of the area he cleans. For example, when he's cleaning his desk, he might accidentally sweep the magic books off the desk and onto the floor.
But Alphad never blamed him. Instead, he held his hand and guided him to feel the magical fluctuations transmitted by the wand, gently advising, "Magic is a resonance with the heart, not a brute force. Shylem, calm down and carefully feel the magic, like feeling the breeze rustling through the grapevines."
Under his grandfather's guidance, Julien's progress became increasingly evident. Just one month later, he could steadily make pebbles levitate and spin in the air, and could also accurately use cleansing spells to tidy up the clutter in the secret chamber;
He had become more proficient in the first defensive spell his grandfather taught him, the "Protego" (Armor Charm). Although the barrier formed by the spell was still very weak, it was already able to withstand minor impacts. According to his grandfather, some third-year students at Hogwarts couldn't even cast a complete Armor Charm.
In addition, Alphad collected a large number of magic books for him—from basic books like "Standard Spells, Beginner" and "History of Magic" to more advanced ones like "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" and "Potions and Elixirs," and even several ancient manuscripts passed down from the Black family, which recorded some obscure knowledge about the combination of astrology and magic.
Julien often read late into the night in the secret room. The magical elements that once existed only in his memory in the Harry Potter stories have now become tangible reality, making him both excited and awe-inspiring.
As for his wand, Julien used a willow wand that his grandfather had given him. His grandfather had taken him to buy it on the Meteor Path in Paris.
This is a place similar to Knockturn Alley, which he had seen in Harry Potter and fan fiction in his previous life.
There are no proper places to buy wands in France. Similarly, the Black family has no respectable, law-abiding members.
Of course, what his grandfather didn't know was that Julien's rapid learning of magic stemmed from the library in his mind. At the very moment of the magical surge, a library seemed to appear in Julien's mind.
At the time, he was confused because a large number of memories flooded his mind. It wasn't until he sorted out his thoughts that night that he could clearly see that the library looked just like the one he used to frequent when he was in college in his previous life.
Of course, Julien wasn't particularly surprised; after all, everyone who's traveled through time has some kind of cheat code.
And he quickly figured out how to enter the library. Actually, it was very simple; he didn't even need to figure it out. With just a thought, he could naturally enter. It's just that at that time, the library's bookshelves were completely empty, without a single book in sight.
"Cheat code! Cheat code!" Julien shouted, but there was no response.
"Oh, no, that's not right. System, system!"
"..."
"Golden Finger, are you there?"
"..."
"Get your ass out here, you system brat!"
"..."
"Daddy! I was wrong, System Daddy?!"
"..."
Why is it still not working?
"grandfather!"
"Meow~" It seemed like a voice responded.
"Hogwarts grass!"
A black cat, which seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, sat cross-legged on the empty bookshelf in front of Julien, looking like a Maine Coon.
But this cat's blackness wasn't ordinary black; it was the kind of deep black that "even Dementors would ask to borrow some of its shadow."
Its fur was so soft it seemed to absorb all the light, and its long tail was elegantly coiled in front of it, like an ancient scroll that had not yet been unrolled.
What is most striking about it are its eyes—two large, round eyes, the left eye amber and the right eye silver-gray. The pupils shrink to two thin lines in the dim light, yet they are still surprisingly bright, as if they can see through Julien's thoughts.
It tilted its head and stared at Julien with an expression that said, "You've finally arrived, three hours and forty-two minutes late."
"Uh... hello?" Julien waved tentatively.
The black cat didn't move, but simply flicked its tail. The empty bookshelves behind it automatically spelled out several glowing words with a "whoosh": "Magic Resonance Library, your librarian is learning to speak."
