Chapter 182 The Kidnapped Woman

Suren pushed open the gates of Hell, and outside, a light drizzle had begun to fall.

A cool breeze swept up damp air and patted his face, the slight coolness dispelling the stuffy heat in the bar.

He stood at the doorway and gently exhaled.

At first, Suren thought that the Armitage family might just be a puppet planted in human society by an evil sorcerer group to make money.

But judging from Rodin's unwillingness to get involved, the other party's background might be more complicated than I imagined.

Perhaps the other party is a group of evil sorcerers?

He tugged at the collar of his trench coat; that possibility couldn't be ruled out.

Walking along the dimly lit alley towards the outer street, Suren touched the note in her hand.

What surprised him even more was...

Rodin, a fallen angel who oscillates between heaven and hell and doesn't even respect God, would actually recommend an official organization to him.

The other party did not provide much explanation for the specific reasons.

If it were the old Suren, she definitely wouldn't have bothered to contact the official authorities or such semi-official organizations.

Those guys who wear suits and ties often have a lot of problems and are always talking about the big picture and moral blackmail.

But now the situation is different. Since Rodin has given this suggestion and even left his contact information, this organization might actually be of some use.

At worst, we can just get the intelligence and leave without getting involved in any conflicts of interest.

"It's getting late now—"

Suren looked up at the darkening sky and decided to check on the situation again tomorrow.

However, he didn't plan to just go back to the hotel to sleep. Since he had come all the way to Washington, he planned to go out and explore the city to see what was going on.

"Whoosh" 6

Just then, a blurry black shadow suddenly flashed past his head.

"Um?"

He recognized the smell; it was the dark figure being chased by plainclothes police officers outside the train station during the day.

Suren looked at the empty space above her head, a sense of curiosity flashing through her mind.

This was the first time he had ever seen a symbiotic being that carried both human and demonic scents.

He leaped up and landed on the rooftop, looking into the distance.

The shadowy figure moved very strangely, crawling close to the ground with all four limbs twisted in opposite directions, like a doll whose joints had been forcibly broken.

However, this posture, which goes against human physiology, does not affect its speed at all; it is even more agile than a normal person when it moves.

More importantly, the shadowy figure was carrying a woman who had fallen into a coma.

"Running around at night, it can't be Spider-Man rescuing hostages, can it?"

Suren moved swiftly and followed silently.

Perhaps, if we follow this shadow, we can find some clues, even if we have to dig deep into the mud.

Strange things don't happen alone; once you find one, you'll encounter a series of other strange occurrences.

A dozen minutes later, Suren followed the dark figure to an upscale suburb not far from downtown Washington.

Watching the dark figure skillfully scale into a detached villa, Suren stopped on a large tree outside the villa.

He closed his eyes, relaxed his mind, and carefully sensed it.

"There was no one else, and no other demonic scent."

In his perception, besides the dark figure, the only other person in the villa was the woman who had been carried in.

The woman's heartbeat was a little rapid but steady, and she was not in any danger. She had already been taken up to the third floor by the shadowy figure.

And the two of them stayed in the attic, making no further noise.

However, after a while, the dark figure retreated from the attic and went down to a certain place on the second floor, where it stopped moving.

To Suren's surprise, after the dark figure stopped, the faint demonic aura emanating from it disappeared!

After it disappeared, the aura of humanity reappeared.

"One body, two souls? After the demonic consciousness went into hibernation, it completely relinquished control of the body to the human?"

Suren leaned against the tree trunk, stroking his chin. This was the first time he had ever seen anything like this.

He waited patiently for a while longer, wanting to see if there were any other changes.

But the human on the second floor gradually began to breathe steadily, and even his heart rate decreased.

"Asleep?"

Suren raised an eyebrow.

Since the host is asleep, he, as a guest, should go in and have a look around.

He circled the villa, randomly picked a window, and climbed inside.

It's hard to imagine that with such poor public security in this country, residents have such low safety awareness. Aren't they looking down on thieves by not installing security bars on their windows?

Suren ignored the sleeping humans in the second-floor bedroom. He didn't know enough about Washington yet, and making a move rashly would only alert them.

He went straight up the stairs to the third floor.

The attic wasn't small, but it was filled with all sorts of odds and ends.

Near the window, there was a worktable with some grinding tools for polishing weapons on it.

On the coat rack next to it hung a black leather coat covered in raindrops.

In the center of the attic, a young woman with disheveled hair was tied to a load-bearing pillar with a thick hemp rope.

Hearing Suren's footsteps, the woman looked up in terror, but when she realized that it wasn't the twisted monster that had entered, but a strange man in a dark red trench coat, the fear in her eyes turned into a desire to survive.

"Waaaaah!"

The woman had a rag stuffed in her mouth and struggled to make sounds.

Suren walked up to her, held up one finger, and gestured for her to be quiet.

He then removed the cloth from the woman's mouth.

"Please! Put me down! Take me away from here! Call the police for me!"

As soon as the rag was taken out, the woman started shouting in a panic.

"Shut up."

Suren frowned slightly, and a small knife instantly appeared in his hand, pressed against the woman's neck.

Feeling the chill on her neck, the woman's voice stopped abruptly. She froze in fright, tears welling in her eyes.

"I ask, you answer."

Suren looked into her eyes, her voice calm.

The woman looked at him with a terrified expression and nodded repeatedly.

"Who kidnapped you?"

"Surren asked."

"I—I don't know!"

The woman shook her head frantically, tears streaming down her face.

Suren's eyes turned cold, and he pushed the knife in his hand forward slightly.

The magical power emanating from the blade instantly pierced her skin, and a trickle of blood flowed down the blade.

"Don't kill me! I swear I really didn't know!"

The woman felt a sharp pain in her neck and was terrified. She explained in a panic, "I'm just a staff member at a haunted house in an amusement park! I just got off work today and this monster grabbed me! I swear, I'm telling the truth!!"

"What's your name?"

Suren stared into her eyes, and after confirming that she wasn't lying, continued to ask.

Serena May.

The woman gave her name, her voice trembling.

Suren frowned; he had never heard of it.

"Please, take me away from here."

Serena looked at Suren helplessly, "I'll give you whatever money you want—"

Just then, she suddenly looked behind Suren, her pupils contracting sharply.

The dim yellow lamp on the attic ceiling began to flicker.
