Chapter 183 Face

"Sizzle"

As the lights flickered, Serena's face showed terror.

Behind the strange man in front of him, a disheveled black shadow hung on the wall like a gecko.

It was holding a fruit knife, raised high in its hand.

Before Serena could warn the monster, it pounced.

Without turning his head, Suren delivered a side kick as he slightly turned his body.

"Bang!"

The monster's body flew backward, crashing through the attic wall and falling directly from the third floor onto the muddy ground outside.

"Fine, since we've been discovered, let's arrest them all."

Suren pushed off with his feet and leaped through the large hole in the wall, landing on the lawn outside.

The monster that had been kicked away was wearing a pink silk nightgown and was struggling in the mud to get up again.

Suren walked up and stomped it into the ground.

He bent down and gently brushed aside the hair covering the other's face, finally getting a clear look at the monster's appearance.

"So ugly."

He was even uglier than any of the deformed people he had ever seen.

The monster's face had no skin at all; bright red flesh protruded slightly, directly exposed to the air. A naked eyeball was casually stuffed into the flesh, turning back and forth as it struggled.

His long, black hair, stained with rain and mud, clung haphazardly to his flesh.

Suren examined the monster closely, then looked at its clothes, and suddenly realized something was wrong.

Normal pajamas should have buttons on the front.

The monster's outfit not only lacked buttons on the front, but even the collar was on the back.

"No way—"

He suddenly remembered a horror movie he had watched before.

A husband discovered his wife putting on makeup in the middle of the night. He went over and lifted the hair at the back of her head, only to find another face smiling at him from there.

Purple magic surged behind him, and a ghostly hand grabbed the monster by the neck, lifting it from the ground into the air.

As the ghostly hand slowly turned its body around, even though Suren was mentally prepared, she still felt a chill run down her spine when she saw the monster's other side.

Watching it on TV and watching it live are completely different experiences.

This feeling doesn't stem from how disgusting the other person looks, but rather from the physical discomfort caused by the sudden appearance of this most familiar human being in front of you in a way that completely contradicts your understanding.

In other words, it's the uncanny valley effect.

The monster has a completely different female face on its front.

The woman's features were exquisite; even though she had just been in the mud, her original beautiful appearance was still evident.

But now, the woman's eyes were closed, her face was pale, and she seemed to be in some kind of coma, completely unaware of the outside world.

"Two sides of the same coin?"

Suren looked at the sleeping face, then at the back of his head where the face was grinning at him.

Is this innate, or the product of later experiments?

He didn't linger in the rain, but followed the hole in the wall back to the attic.

After tying her to another pillar, Suren patted Serena, whose face was blank.

"Hey, wake up."

Suren pointed to the woman who had fallen into a deep sleep beside him and asked, "Do you know this woman?"

Serena snapped back to her senses and glanced at Suren with some fear.

She had just witnessed the monster's actions firsthand: it kicked the monster away, jumped down from the cave entrance, and then jumped back up.

This made her wonder if she had accidentally wandered into a movie set.

She examined it carefully and then shook her head.

"I've never seen this person before."

Suren glanced at Serena, then at the unconscious woman, his expression somewhat strange.

These two women look so alike.

Aside from one being young and the other a bit older, they're practically identical.

But Serena doesn't look very old, she looks like she's only in her thirties or forties.

"Have you ever had children before?"

Suren suddenly spoke up and asked.

Serena's expression changed, and she shook her head frantically, denying it immediately.

But this behavior has already betrayed her true thoughts.

Suren nodded and did not ask any further questions.

He looked at the two women, who were about the same age and could even be described as mother and daughter or sisters when they stood together, and stroked his chin.

Even if it was abandoned, what's with the monster on the back of its head?

Driven by curiosity, Suren took out his phone and dialed the number provided by Rodin.

Since the other party is an organization that specializes in handling these kinds of matters, they must have some intelligence.

"Beep beep beep one"

The phone rang three times before being answered.

"Hello, who is this?"

A male voice came out.

Suren curled his lip and said directly, "Rodin sent me to find you."

Upon hearing Rodin's name on the phone, there was a flurry of activity on the other end, followed by a sudden change in tone to one of considerable restraint.

"Is there anything we can do for you?"

Suren looked at her phone with some surprise. When did the officials become so easy to talk to?

"Have you located me? Send someone over; I want to ask them some questions in person."

"Also, investigate Serena May."

Serena, who was tied to the pillar, screamed like a madwoman when she heard that Suren was going to have her investigated.

Annoyed by her noise, Suren frowned, picked up the rag from the ground, and stuffed it back into her mouth.

The person on the other end of the phone had obviously heard the woman's screams and sobs, and remained silent for a moment.

Then, he stammered, "Okay—okay, our people will be here soon."

Suren hung up the phone and put it back in her pocket.

Just then, someone knocked on the door downstairs.

"Bang bang bang!"

"Sister! Are you home?"

A young girl's voice came from downstairs, "My mom made a casserole and asked me to bring some over to see you!"

Suren paused for a moment, looked at Serena, and then at the woman.

guessed wrong?

Where did this little sister and mother come from?

He ignored the knocking downstairs, leaned quietly against the wall, and waited for the other person to leave on their own.

A few minutes later, the villa fell silent.

But suddenly, the sound of a window being pushed open came from one of the rooms, followed by a scream of pain.

Suren sighed helplessly and went down the stairs.

Not long after, he returned to the attic carrying a girl with shoulder-length blonde hair who was struggling desperately.

A moment later, Suren sat in a chair, looking at the three women in front of her who were tied to a pillar with hemp rope, and was somewhat speechless.

How did I suddenly become a kidnapper in the middle of the night?

He looked at the blonde girl.

The other person is very young; judging from their attire and appearance, they are probably just a high school student or a freshman in college.

To Suren's surprise, after the initial shock, the girl didn't whine and scream like Serena. Instead, she looked around at her surroundings with curious eyes, showing no fear whatsoever.

I won't hurt you.

Suren looked at her and said calmly, "But I need you to answer a few questions for me. Nod if you understand."

The blonde girl looked at Suren and nodded repeatedly.

Suren reached out and removed the rag from her mouth.

The girl was finally able to breathe freely. She took a deep breath and, before Suren could even ask a question, preemptively asked, "Who are you? Why are you at my sister's house?"

Suren raised an eyebrow upon hearing this address.

"Is she your older sister?"

Suren pointed to Serena on the other side, "Do you know this person?"

The blonde girl glanced at it and shook her head.

Suren remained silent for a moment.

This network of relationships seems to be more complicated than he imagined.

A younger sister who suddenly appears, a monster older sister with two faces, and a mother who was kidnapped by the monster older sister and is suspected of abandoning her children.

"What's your name?"

After considering it for a moment, Suren asked again.

"Sydney Lake".

Sydney replied, then continued, "Are you a serial killer? Or are you one of those legendary FBI agents, here specifically to investigate the recent series of murders?"

"What murder case?"

"Surren asked."

"So you're not from around here?"

Sydney looked excited, as if she had found out some information.

"A mysterious serial killer has recently appeared in the city."

"He first broke into this house and brutally murdered his sister's husband, and then went on to kill several doctors in the city. The police still haven't caught him."

Listening to her description, Suren asked, "What does this serial murder case have to do with your sister? Does the police suspect she hired someone to kill them?"

Sydney looked around and said in a low voice, "Actually, the scariest thing isn't the serial killer."

"But every time that serial killer committed a murder, my sister would clearly see the process in her dreams."

"It was as if she was standing next to the murderer."
