Chapter 187 I'm in a hurry

Suren took the key from Anjou's hand.

"Mr. Suren, I'd like to go too, I can help with the liaison work."

Anqiong hesitated for a moment before speaking.

Suren opened the car door, glanced back at him indifferently, and said nothing, but the rejection in her eyes was self-evident.

Anqiong took two steps back because of his gaze.

At that moment, Director Arthur came out of the room and handed over a portable communication headset: "Put this on. Charlie can help you cut into the nearby surveillance network at any time and provide intelligence support."

Suren glanced at the headphones and this time didn't refuse.

Watching the taillights disappear into the distance, Liz crossed her arms, leaned against the door frame, and let out a disdainful snort.

"Are we just going to let him go like that?"

She looked at Chief Arthur and said, "What's this guy all about? I don't think he's anything special except for his bad temper and gray hair."

"Going to arrest someone empty-handed without any preparation?"

In her view, Suren's behavior was nothing but pretentious posturing.

As an anomaly with a demonic curse lingering within her since childhood, Liz battles day and night against the flames that threaten to backfire on her at any moment.

She knew better than anyone how terrifying monsters associated with demons could be.

Arthur ignored her questions, simply tightened his ill-fitting old suit, and led Anjou into the house.

More than an hour later, Suren drove his car to a coastline.

This is the address of the abandoned hospital provided by Charlie, which is also where his magical imprint is located, and it hasn't been moved for some time.

Charlie's voice and the sound of him typing came through the earphones: "Suren, at this cliff intersection, there's only one camera that can capture a view of the hospital entrance. We don't know anything about what's inside. Be careful."

"it is good."

Suren responded and stepped on the brake.

The car came to a stop on a clearing at the edge of a cliff.

Dry vines climbed the gray stone walls, and several broken stained-glass windows swayed in the sea breeze.

According to Charlie, the hospital was built in the late 19th century, and its overall style is more like that of a monastery.

Suren pushed open the slightly ajar main entrance of the hospital and stepped into the lobby.

To his surprise, the hospital, which had been abandoned for many years, had no strange smells at all; even the faint smell of disinfectant was hard to detect.

The entrance is a straight corridor that leads deep into the hospital.

The walls on both sides of the corridor were peeling, and rusty mobile hospital beds, various medical instruments and medical records were randomly piled up everywhere.

To the left is a spacious hall with several rows of benches, which looks like a place used for waiting for doctors in the past.

"Suren, can you hear me?"

Charlie's voice came through the headphones again.

"explain."

Suren stepped through the broken glass and walked inside.

"The hospital's internal power grid has long been paralyzed."

Charlie's keyboard clicked incessantly. "The architectural plans show there's a backup diesel generator in the basement—"

"Need not."

Suren kicked aside a wheelchair blocking his way, interrupting him from saying anything more.

Who knows if the generator in this old building, which has been abandoned for who knows how many years, is still usable?

Besides, if he had the time to crank the generator, he would have finished long ago. Why go through all that trouble?

He walked along the dark corridor, not only without making a fuss about his steps, but even taking the time to stop and look at the doctor's information hanging on the wall.

Guided by the magic, Suren went down the stairs and pushed open the iron door on the basement level.

Outside an operating room, a person in pajamas lay quietly on the tiled floor.

"Found it."

Suren stared at the figure on the ground and muttered something under his breath.

It's unclear whether he was reporting to Arthur and the others on the other end of the earpiece, or deliberately reminding the other side.

The moment he finished speaking.

The corpse lying on the ground suddenly stood up stiffly, as if being pulled by a string.

"Click-click-click."

As his body continued to convulse, an eyeball embedded amidst the blood and gore stared intently at Suren through his damp hair.

"Sizzle—"

Suddenly, his communication headset emitted a static sound, and the surrounding lights, which had been turned off, began to flicker.

Then, a hoarse voice suddenly rang out in the earphones.

"Why do you keep getting in my way?!"

The other person's face looked terrifying with anger, and the muscles exposed to the air twitched uncontrollably.

Suren looked at the other person's face calmly.

"I'm just curious, what exactly did those doctors do to you when you were a child?"

He stepped forward. "Why would a parasite smell like a demon?"

"What did they do—parasites?"

The monster seemed to have heard some incredible joke, and its strange "giggle" laughter reached Suren's ears through the headphones, causing him to frown slightly.

"Was I born to die?!"

The monster roared excitedly at Suren, pointing to its head, "They treated me like a monster! An experiment! Every day they injected that black blood into my brain! I endured all the pain!"

The monster snapped its arm, pointing to the back of her face. "And her!"

"Yet she can pretend she remembers nothing, enjoy her parents' love, and live a normal life—"

"Bang!"

Before the monster could finish speaking, its body was kicked away like a soccer ball.

"Although your story is fascinating, I'm in a hurry."

Suren patted his trouser leg, slowly withdrew his leg, and said calmly, "If you have a mental illness, I can help you get an appointment with a psychiatrist. Of course, you'll have to pay for the medical expenses yourself."

The monster was brought into the operating room by Rui, where a pile of steel pipes and iron frames collapsed, burying it underneath. It was momentarily stunned.

When it finally managed to struggle away the trash on its body and raise its head, a fist the size of a sandbag rapidly enlarged in its cloudy pupils.

Inside Charlie's room at the Federal Agency for Extraordinary Intervention, several people are gathered around a computer.

"Sulen?"

Arthur gripped the microphone and tentatively called out.

Ever since Suren said "Found it," a series of random buzzing sounds came through the earphones, as if the signal had been interfered with by something.

They couldn't hear the conversation between Suren and the monster behind them, nor did they know what was happening on the scene.

Arthur looked at Charlie sitting in front of the computer, his brow furrowed: "What's going on?"

Charlie's fingers flew across the keyboard, creating a blur of motion, while complex data codes danced across the screen.

"A strong electromagnetic pulse has just erupted around the hospital."

Charlie traced the signal and explained, "All communication devices were interfered with for a short period of time."

"But don't worry, the impact is only temporary, and the communication lines will be restored soon."

Behind them, Liz sat on the bed, playing a game on her phone, and sneered, "Is that all you've got? You didn't even last one hit before that thing took you down, did you?"

"I told you all long ago that this kind of guy who doesn't follow orders and is blindly arrogant is completely unreliable."
