Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 005: Girl Linwen

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry, I got a little excited to see you!" The brown-haired girl scratched her head sheepishly.

While catching his breath, Loran looked the girl up and down and found her information in his memory.

It turns out that this was a friend of the original owner, Loran, named Lin Wen. They used to often take on hunting commissions together, and the two had a pretty good relationship.

"Lorraine, weren't you going on an adventure to another town? Why are you back?" Lin Wen grinned and nudged Loran's shoulder with his elbow. "Hey, did you miss me? Did you feel like you couldn't get anywhere without me?"

Loran stared at the girl in astonishment. Is this girl... always like this? It seems like she is in my memory!

Now he understood why the original owner of the body, Loran, had gone out to collect medicinal herbs. This woman looked terrifying!

Stay calm, stay calm. The original owner, Loran, is no longer here. We can't let this guy see through our disguise.

"Well... something came up, so I decided to turn back." Loran relaxed and tried to act naturally.

Lin Wen raised an eyebrow. "Got into some trouble? Did you run into a bear or a wolf? Just shoot them dead!"

"Whoosh whoosh whoosh! Whoosh whoosh! Swoosh swoosh swoosh! It's so easy!" Lin Wen said, mimicking the motion of drawing a bow and nocking an arrow, looking quite lively.

Looking at the overly lively girl in front of him, Loran's eyes suddenly lit up. This girl might be able to solve his urgent problem!

"Hey, Linwen, stop for a second. Can you do me a favor?" Luo Lan stopped Linwen's exaggerated movements, calming her down.

Lin Wen blinked, asking curiously, "What kind of busy work are you doing?"

Loran cleared her throat and said earnestly, "The reason I came back is because I found an injured dog in the forest. I really wanted to save it; its injuries were severe... it needs a healing potion... but, but... sigh!"

Loran spoke these words with great emotion, and Loran felt almost moved by them. After all, what he said was the truth, and it was a genuine expression of his feelings.

Lin Wen pouted, "It's just that he asked me to borrow copper coins, why make up a whole story for me..."

Loran was taken aback, and quickly explained, "I'm not lying to you, I really did find an injured dog!"

"I have money on me now, but not enough. I'm 30 copper coins short of buying the potion. I'll borrow 30." Loran earnestly held up three fingers.

"Thirty copper coins isn't much, but I need to make sure you use it wisely. I know you secretly enjoy a little drink!"

Lin Wen held up two fingers, pointing to his own eyes, and then to Loran's eyes.

Lorraine replied confidently, "Okay, no problem."

Loran then led Linwen into another apothecary, picked up a small recovery potion, and handed Linwen 420 copper coins from his pocket.

"Hey, you buy it for me, now you've got the supervision covered, right?" Loran chose to have Lin Wen buy it for her.

On one hand, he wanted to hide his adventurer's credentials to avoid this acquaintance questioning him about why he was called Zhao Xin.

On the other hand, Lin Wen is a Rock-class adventurer, so she can get a discounted price.

He absolutely has to take advantage of this today!

Lin Wen shrugged, casually accepted the copper coins, and spent 450 copper coins to hand the potion to Loran. "Hmm, I'm going to follow you."

Loran, who had just taken the medicine and was about to leave, paused and said with an awkward smile, "This... isn't quite right."

"How do I know if the dog you're talking about is real? You still owe me thirty copper coins. If you leave, where am I supposed to find you? You were going to another town before," Lin Wen snorted.

Loran had no choice. Although he was worried about his identity being exposed, Lin Wen hadn't noticed anything unusual about him so far, so there shouldn't be any major problems. In fact, the original Loran's personality wasn't much different from his.

Besides, this carefree lady might not even notice these small details, so it's best to just go along with her wishes to avoid acting unnaturally and making it easier to expose flaws.

"Okay, okay, let's go, I'll take you to see the dog I picked up."

And so, Loran led the bouncy Linwen to the inn where he was staying.

As soon as they reached the door, the two were met by a burly man covered in a foul stench, shirtless, with a dirty piece of cloth slung over his shoulder.

The two quickly moved far away, and Lin Wen swallowed hard, asking in astonishment, "You...you live here? You're really bankrupt? I remember you were quite wealthy, weren't you?"

Loran shrugged. "Uh, the money's gone. I can't really say the details."

Lin Wen gave Luo Lan a strange look and snorted, "Fine, I'll reluctantly believe you. Don't think you can get away with not paying me back just by playing the victim."

"Alright, alright, thank you for your kindness, I'll pay you back." Loran said helplessly, walked into the hotel, and found his own room.

Upon opening the door, a musty smell immediately wafted out. Lin Wen pinched her nose, feeling like she was about to suffocate.

"Hey, hey, hey, how can you really sleep here? It's so awful!"

Lin Wen walked in while complaining, and then saw Brian, a white dog, resting on the ground. Her eyes lit up immediately.

"Hey, there really is a dog! This dog looks so cute! Wait, what's that stuff on it... birch bark? Vines! Did you steal someone else's dog?!"

Loran covered her face, speechless, and explained, "I don't need these things, so how am I supposed to bring them back?"

Loran thought to himself, "This guy's thinking is a bit strange, and he talks in such a dramatic way. I really wonder if Lin Wen's head was kicked by the lord's donkey."

Lin Wen's face lit up with realization. "Oh, I see. Oh dear, the injury is quite serious. There are even marks from the medicine. Hmm, it's rough, like your style... Quickly bring the medicine over!"

Loran crouched down, came to Brian's side, and carefully poured the small bottle of recovery potion onto Brian's body. The lacerations on his body gradually scabbed over, and Brian's mental state improved more and more.

"Truly amazing," Loran thought to himself.

At this moment, Loran wanted to take out his adventure manual to take a look, but he suppressed the urge because Lin Wen was there.

But just as this thought crossed his mind, Loran saw a phantom book page turning right in front of him. The texture, the words—it was an adventure manual!

Loran glanced at Lin Wen beside her, then at the adventure manual in front of her.

Lin Wen noticed Luo Lan's gaze, and seeing Luo Lan turn her head, he also turned his head, only to find that Luo Lan was looking at the dark wall panel.

"What's so interesting about a wall? Did you go outside and mess up your brain?" Lin Wen asked suspiciously, tilting her head.

"You... sigh, never mind." Loran sighed. If a dog bites him, he can't bite the dog back, can he?

Or rather, this guy is even less obedient than a dog...
