Archer's Adventure Manual

Chapter 022: Mountain Wild Boar

"Whoosh!" The greatsword, accompanied by the sound of wind, slammed down on the charging wild boar, hitting it squarely on the head and halting its advance.

"Clang!" The little wild boar crashed into the greatsword and made a collision sound, but the scene of being cut and bleeding as imagined did not appear.

Lin Wen seized the opportunity, quickly approached the wild boar, and plunged his dagger into the boar's abdomen!

Compared to the head, which even the greatsword couldn't penetrate, the boar's belly was much more vulnerable. Lin Wen's dagger pierced deep inside, and blood spurted out.

Loran also activated his skill, aimed, and fired two arrows that accurately hit the boar's rump.

As for why it was the buttocks, it's probably because his shot was inaccurate, but because he had a skill that guaranteed a hit, it deviated to the little wild boar's buttocks.

It would be great if this precision shooting system had a more accurate navigation system someday.

The little wild boar felt pain and began to wildly dart around, causing everyone to quickly dodge.

The little wild boar shook its dizzy head in place, stumbling as it walked. It finally realized something was wrong, and its survival instinct made it instinctively want to return to its burrow.

Unfortunately, it was too late. Brian seized the opportunity and bit the little wild boar's tail, refusing to let go.

The little boar spun around frantically, but it couldn't shake off Brian, that troublesome hound.

"Swish swish swish!" Lin Wen seized the opportunity and frantically stabbed the wild boar's belly, drawing blood with every stab!

"This is a great opportunity to kill a wild boar. I'm going to get its head!" Loran thought to himself, drawing the bow with three fingers and then firing a shot!

"call out!"

The arrow pierced the wild boar's head. The little boar's body stiffened, it kicked its legs twice, and finally collapsed in a pool of blood.

"Combat Guide: You have killed an E-rank 'Mountain Boar Cub', gaining 2 Adventure Points; the fur on this boar's head is excellent for localized defense. | Unlocks the skill 'Weakness Insight'"

Weakness Insight lv.1 (unlocked at 20 Adventure Points): You can gain a preliminary understanding of the weaknesses of creatures.

Current Adventure Points: 134.

Loran now has a lot of adventure points, and once he has unlockable skills, he decisively chooses to unlock them, mastering the skill "Weak Current Insight".

"Hehe! I'm rich! I'm rich! A little wild boar! Even a little wild boar can be exchanged for 20 silver coins. I'm making a killing!" Lin Wen was so happy that he almost jumped up.

However, at that moment, Loran noticed something unusual in the adventure manual.

Survival Guide: A Class C threat creature is approaching...

"Quick, let's leave first!" Loran shouted to Lin Wen before she could explain.

Lin Wen was taken aback, looking at the baby wild boar's carcass on the ground. "But...but it's a baby wild boar!"

"Roar!" A huge roar came from the forest, and then Loran saw a huge wild boar rush out. It was very big, nearly 3 meters tall.

And... this guy is running, not standing!

"Run!" Loran shouted, preparing to flee.

However, the next moment, the seemingly clumsy mountain boar leaped up and landed directly in the path of Loran and his companions' retreat, dispelling their plans to move.

Many adventurers nearby heard what was happening and rushed over to check. However, upon seeing the size of the mountain boar, they chose to flee, as they had absolutely no confidence in defeating this behemoth.

Noah stared intently at the mountain boar before him. "This big guy is probably a mutant mountain boar... Perhaps it came into contact with some kind of magical plant in the forest, which is why it has grown to such a massive size."

"Then run in the opposite direction!" Loran shouted.

The three tried to escape in the opposite direction again, but the wild boar leaped over them and blocked their path.

This guy's jumping ability... is simply terrifying!

"Zhao Xin, Lin Wen, you two go first. This wild boar is far beyond your capabilities. Go find Captain Vance; I might be able to hold it off for a while..."

Noah took off his backpack, picked up his greatsword with both hands, and stared intently at the mountain boar.

Loran was completely bewildered. What... what was going on? Noah... was trying to buy them time?!

But, isn't this guy trying to harm me?

Loran recalled the hints on the bond page. Brian was able to gain the 'partner' bond because he trusted him, and now, there are two more people with this bond!

So, does that mean Noah was never the one who wanted to harm him? Instead, he was truly a passionate adventurer!

"No! Look at this wild boar, its eyes are already red. It looks like we killed its cubs. You'll die if you face a wild boar in a frenzied state alone!" Lin Wen said, her eyes already reddening.

She might tease her teammates on ordinary days, but that's just her way of expressing joy. Now that it's a crisis, she absolutely doesn't want to abandon her teammates and choose to run away alone!

"Roar!" The mountain boar didn't seem to have any intention of wasting words with everyone. It leaped towards Noah's head, seemingly wanting to deliver a "Mount Tai crushing down" blow.

Noah, of course, wouldn't take the blow head-on; instead, he quickly dodged.

"boom!"

When the wild boar landed, dust mixed with gravel flew everywhere, creating a dust storm!

Just as everyone's vision was limited, the wild boar suddenly charged out, and its target was none other than Lin Wen!

Loran's heart skipped a beat, and he instantly completed a mental operation.

"Survival Guide: You have successfully spent 20 Adventure Points to subtly grant your companion 'Linwen' the skill 'Shadow Ambush'!"

Although Lin Wen considered himself an assassin and was indeed very agile, he still appeared somewhat pale and powerless when faced with the sudden impact of this behemoth.

She reacted quickly enough, trying to run out of the wild boar's impact range, but... it was too late. The wild boar was already in front of her, and she could even smell its stench!

"boom!"

A tree was smashed and, along with Lin Wen's shadow, vanished in the charge of the wild boars.

"Buzz!" Loran's mind seemed to go blank. He couldn't believe that his first adventure after transmigrating would involve seeing his usual companions taken away by wild beasts.

The Adventure Handbook isn't a panacea. The Bonds page explains it clearly: granting someone a skill is a gradual process, not something that can be done overnight.

Previously, he had reasons to say he didn't have enough adventure points and wanted to accumulate more to exchange for useful skills; even Brian's language learning had to be postponed again and again...

But now, he has already gained so many adventure points this morning, and they are still superfluous. Why, why can't he let Lin Wen learn 'Shadow Ambush' ahead of time?

If Lin Wen had mastered the Shadow Ambush, would the outcome this afternoon have been different?

Being wary of Noah is fine, but what about Lin Wen? Lin Wen is such a trustworthy girl; she generously lent him money when he was in trouble and even took him hunting...

"But what about myself?" Loran's eyes turned red. "Would I only be willing to give this girl who helped me, on my deathbed, the opportunity to learn... a skill she had pursued for so many years?"
