Archer's Adventure Manual
Chapter 024: Crisis in Luoxi Village
Since he's no longer of any use as an archer, he might as well rush in and share some of the firepower with his teammates. He can't just stand by and watch everything happen like this.
Lin Wen, who was struggling on the back of the wild boar, suddenly looked at Luo Lan when she heard her words. However, there was no blame in her eyes, and a smile appeared on her pale face.
She seemed to say something, but Loran couldn't hear her anymore. Lin Wen was thrown away by the powerful force, and she no longer had the mental energy to unleash her prized Shadow Lurker...
"Even if it's a hard fight, I'll fight you to the end!" Noah's veins bulged all over his body. The wounds on his arms were tearing open, and the wounds on his chest were bleeding continuously, but he didn't care at all.
"Zhao Xin, run!"
Loran only heard Noah say this one sentence before Noah was also knocked away by the boar's immense strength and crashed into the mountainside. This time, the injury seemed to be more severe than any before.
"Boom!" The mountain boar leaped into the air, raising a cloud of dust.
Brian, who fell from the sky and landed on his bottom, still biting the wild boar's tail, had to face the gravity generated by the mountain wild boar's massive size.
That force was enough to crush any living creature, let alone an ordinary mountain hunting dog...
"Brian!"
"Roar!" After dealing with Brian, that annoying dog, the mountain boar roared angrily at Loran.
Loran's ears were ringing; he seemed unable to hear anything else...
He could only watch as the wild boar approached him step by step, his limbs growing weak and powerless, the poisoned arrows having no effect whatsoever.
"Adventure Manual... Is there still a way?"
Survival Guidelines: ...Sorry, no effective solution can be provided.
…………
"Captain Vance, something terrible has happened!"
"Captain Vance, something terrible has happened!"
As Vance listened to the messages from one adventurer after another, he felt a chill run down his spine. No, how could this be?
In the short time that had just passed, he had encountered several adventurers who had returned with news, and without exception, they had all reported that some of them had encountered large mountain boars.
That's not the main point. The main point is that these mountain wild boars are forest variants with certain rocky skin characteristics, making them a rather rare and difficult species to deal with.
Even a small team like the Blade of Excellence would need a sufficiently powerful mage to dare to hunt such a creature.
Why have at least three of these mutant wild boars appeared near such a small village, and all of them coincidentally, near a wild boar's den?
"This is beyond our control. Immediately send people back to Rockfall Town to inform the Warren Nobles and the Adventurers' Guild that a serious biological crisis has occurred in the Rockfall Village area... The situation is extremely serious and requires a team of adventurers with at least Bronze-level 5 shields to handle it!"
"yes!"
Captain Vance did not panic, but calmly analyzed the situation and took action.
"With our current manpower, we can't even hunt a mountain boar. Gather all the remaining adventurers, enter Falling Creek Village, join forces with the village chief, and activate the village's defenses!"
Vance immediately made a decision.
Immediately, an adventurer stepped forward and retorted, "What about those adventurers who are currently encountering mountain boars? Are we just going to ignore them?"
Vance frowned, his eyes grave, and said, "It's not that we're ignoring it, but this has far exceeded our capabilities, and this crisis may also affect Luoxi Village. This is the worst-case scenario."
Everyone fell silent. With disaster looming, they had no choice but to follow the instructions of Vance, the most experienced old hunter.
A mutant wild boar that big is definitely not something that mediocre adventurers like them can handle.
The adventurers who had accepted the farmland pest control mission were shocked to hear about the changes that had occurred around the village. They were all relieved that they hadn't chosen to actively seek out wild boars... they had narrowly escaped death.
Captain Vance said that no one could survive being swallowed by such a beast.
Only a dozen or so adventurers remained of Vance's group. The rest might not have returned, or they might be dead; nobody knew.
Vance organized the adventurers to help the village build defensive structures.
As the group traveled along the route, thick, dark clouds gathered above the village, and a light drizzle fell from the sky, casting a faint gloom over the entire village.
Upon receiving the notification, the village chief of Luoxi Village rushed to the front line, inquired about the situation, and immediately began mobilizing the villagers.
"Village chief, did this wild boar appear suddenly, or had it been there all along?" Vance asked the village chief earnestly; this question was undoubtedly very important.
If the village chief knew about this threat but chose to conceal it, it would be a very serious matter. He wanted to determine the truth of the matter by listening to the village chief's next words.
The village chief answered the question very carefully: "Captain Vance, I am certain that the wild boar that attacked the farmers' fields was just an ordinary mountain wild boar. I have never seen a wild boar as large as the one you described."
"Furthermore, if wild boars were attacking farmland as you say, our village would probably have been destroyed long ago. Why wait until now?"
Captain Vance nodded in agreement. The village chief had no reason to hide such a hidden danger, and if the wild boar had existed for a long time, the village would not have been so intact.
That leaves only one explanation: the mountain boars appeared suddenly, and in considerable numbers at once, which is extremely strange...
Fortunately, the village was not entirely populated by weak villagers; many retired knights had been allocated land in the village and settled there.
They were once frontline guards or henchmen. Upon hearing the news, these retired knights drew their once-proud iron swords, and their swords were no less formidable!
The wooden spike traps were placed at the village entrance and connected with vines and other resilient materials to form a basic safety barrier.
The villagers then used their hoes to dig shallow pits nearby and placed wooden spikes inside. Wild boars, struggling to stop their charge, easily fell into these traps.
Meanwhile, something resembling tripwires was set up along the front line of the village. These sturdy ropes made of vines and hemp ropes might be able to trip the wild boars.
The blacksmith shops also began to rush to make javelins. Since black iron was somewhat scarce, they made fewer javelins and mostly made stone javelins.
The slingshot, which children love to use, has also become an invaluable weapon. When loaded with sharp stones, it can still exert considerable power.
The village now has only one thing to do: defend itself and wait for reinforcements from Rockfall Town!
