Archer's Adventure Manual
Chapter 070: An Ordinary Tavern
Loran had no idea that Instructor Lena had such a story behind her, and her understanding of adventure became increasingly complex.
When he first arrived from another world, adventure was something that combined novelty and excitement.
During the adventure, you can see all kinds of scenery and meet all kinds of people. Everything is as wonderful as depicted in novels and anime.
But that's just from an observer's perspective. Behind the novelty and excitement lies the unknown and danger that adventurers have to bear.
As a member of the adventurer's party, Loran was undertaking not only an adventure, but also a responsibility.
They bear the responsibility for the shared fate of the team.
He absolutely had to maintain this small team that he had built from scratch. His teammates were among the few people Loran could trust in this lonely world.
......
Finita and Loran finished training. Loran was about to say goodbye to Finita when Finita asked curiously, "Um, Loran, where are you going now?"
Loran thought for a moment and said calmly, "I'll go sit in the tavern."
"Um, can I come along too?" Finita blinked her eyes and looked at Loran earnestly.
Lorraine didn't hesitate much and readily agreed, "Sure, but I'm not going to drink, I just want to sit down."
"Hmm! No problem, I'll observe what a day in the life of an adventurer is like!" Finita said excitedly.
Loran's lips twitched. This Finita really knew how to pick; she chose an adventurer who seemed least like an adventurer. But then again, taking this naive little girl to the tavern wasn't such a bad thing.
Loran then took Finita and Brian to an ordinary tavern. He didn't go to the barbecue tavern because he didn't plan to overspend now.
The food here is much cheaper than that at the estate, such as the most common black bread and some freshly squeezed fruit juice diluted with water.
Loran casually ordered a few items, took a few bites, and... well, they were pretty bad.
Seeing Loran's expression, as if he had ingested some strange substance, Finita said with some concern, "How about... I order you something tastier? These look a bit unappetizing."
"Ahem, Finita, you have to understand, sometimes eating isn't the main purpose; we just need the right to sit here."
Loran spoke with great professionalism.
"The right to sit here?!" Finita's eyes widened. She looked around at the adventurers drinking heavily and talking loudly, and suddenly realized that Loran was gathering information!
Sure enough, professional adventurers are different; they come to the tavern every day to gather information about the day's events!
"But these adventurers are speaking in a muffled voice, and they're quite far away, so I can barely hear them... Loran, they even have accents. How did you manage to glean any hidden information from them?"
Finita asked with great curiosity.
Loran shrugged. "I'm the same as you. I can't understand what those guys are muttering about either."
"Then...what are we doing sitting here?" Finita asked, puzzled.
At this moment, Loran patted Brian's head at his feet, "Don't worry, professional tasks are handled by professional dogs!"
Loran naturally wouldn't need to infiltrate the adventurers to gather intelligence himself; he would leave that to the reliable Brian.
"You sent Brian to gather intelligence?" Finita's mouth dropped open, clearly not expecting Loran to pull such a stunt.
Brian dashed into the crowd of adventurers, and many were captivated by the adorable creature's charm, easily blending into the group.
Finita was dumbfounded. She thought it was already shocking enough that Brian could talk, but she never expected there to be something even more surprising.
"Let it do its thing. We can just chat here," Loran said casually, occasionally taking a sip of watered-down fruit syrup.
Just then, a commotion arose at the tavern entrance.
Several figures appeared at the entrance of the tavern, and soon caused a commotion inside.
"Hey! Look at those people...they look familiar! Oh right! That blond one, isn't that Elfin?!"
"Holy crap, it really is him! Blonde hair and elf ears, who else in this town could it be but him? The half-elf ranger Elfin, he actually came to this tavern!"
Upon hearing the commotion, the tavern owner quickly came out and warmly greeted Elfin.
Elfin and his adventurer party found a spot to sit down, and the chosen spot happened to be in the center of the tavern, where almost all the adventurers in the tavern could see Elfin and his party.
This doesn't seem like a coincidence; it's more like the tavern owner knew about their arrival in advance and reserved seats for them.
When Elfin and his teammates took their seats, the other adventurers were in an uproar.
"Elfin actually came to this tavern for a drink! I thought an elite adventurer team like theirs would look down on such a vulgar tavern."
"Tch, don't take this guy too seriously. He's just gotten a bit stronger lately. Compared to the Blades of Excellence, their adventure rankings are still far behind!"
"Yeah, yeah, all they do is shout slogans. Their actual adventure experience is far from that of a real top-tier adventure team! I wonder who's been praising this kind of team."
Finita stared blankly at Alfin, who was sitting in the center, and was even more amazed.
She looked at Loran with some suspicion. Could it be that Loran knew Elfin and his group were coming and had arrived at the tavern ahead of time?
Indeed, well-informed adventurers are different.
Finita said she learned a lot and realized the importance of intelligence.
Loran frowned as he looked at Elfin, surprised to encounter this strange fellow, and wondering what secrets he harbored...
Soon, the tavern owner brought out several of the tavern's signature dishes and its signature beer, placing them in front of Elfin and the others for them to enjoy.
After tasting the signature ale, several of Elfin's teammates couldn't help but exclaim loudly, "This is a really good beer! It reminds me of the taste of home!"
"This food is quite good! One bite seems to transport you back to that vibrant wheat field!"
Elfin's teammates seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves, their movements becoming somewhat exaggerated.
Loran, who was observing from the side, seemed to understand the group's intentions. Weren't they here to bring this tavern to its knees?
The owner of this tavern must have given Elfin a lot of benefits, allowing him to sit in the tavern and help promote it.
"Damn it, this Alfin is pretty cunning. He's already looking for ways to monetize the traffic he's generated, huh?" Loran couldn't help but think to himself.
